I didn't even know your name but your presence will be missed. I hope that you will be able to return to your place in the world that you helped create one day.

Saw on Xcomp's blog that you'd resigned from modding and had to come here to say goodbye. You've been one of the best members of the modding community for at least around a year now, and we will all miss you. You've helped turn EBXL from a great mod to one of the best mods, and you've helped so many people on this thread with their issues without ever getting mad, and helped so many other modders with their code issues as well. The land of Minecraft will forever be a little dimmer, a little less vibrant without you.
'Course there'll be a bit less of that quicksandy stuff too.
I hope everything is okay for you in reality -- I've been down the path of reality sapping my ability to do anything virtual for both good reasons and bad -- and that you'll have a happy future doing whatever it is you decide to be doing. Let your dreams stay big, your worries stay small, and I hope you never have to carry more than you can hold
Thank you so much for your contribution to the MC modding community, Scott. We players will miss you dearly, but will continue to play your mod in honor of the time you've spent on this good work. May you relax, rest, and enjoy your life. You deserve it. I will be happy to extend a bit of my spare change to put towards your next vacation. You've earned it. XD

Scott and I had planned to begin working on the next version of Extra Biomes in the near future before Scott's situation changed. Although we never really got that far in planning together I did get the sense that we had very similar visions for what version 4 should be and I'll try my best to bring those ideas to life. Our philosophies are also very similar. We both do this for the enjoyment and working with all of you for both ideas and contributions is important.
It's going to take me a while to get into things as we were planning to get started in the next month or so before so I'm not very organised yet! Hopefully the way everything is done will remain the same, and your input is as welcome as ever.
For those worried about Underground Biomes etc the aim was to make pretty much everything configurable so if you don't like something you can just disable it.
If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask and I'll try to respond to them all!
Lastly thanks to Scott for the opportunity! It's unfortunate that we couldn't work together but I'm sure you made the right choice and I hope that everything is ok

I did search this topic, but I couldn't find the average heights for the biomes. I actually don't need all of them, I just want to know which biome has the lowest average height, so I can use it in my Mystcraft mining age.
If you actually mean Y=-0.2, then yes, that will be the lowest.
If you mean 0.2 blocks below sea level, then I suspect swamp, and mushroom island shore are both lower.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
yeah they do work when put in manualy or with turtle, so is that a buldcraft issue then ?
The issue lies with how pipes talk to machines that use the BuildCraft API.
BuildCraft pipes and Forestry machines "talk" to each other differently than player and machine, turtle and machine etc. A BuildCraft pipe will sort of ask the machine: "Do you have room for this item with this item id". If the machine says "no", then the pipe will respect that. Turtles, RedPower 2 tubes and a few other mechanics simply access the inventory directly and does as they please.
So why can you put it in manually? This is probably a flaw with The Forestry machine. The logic in the GUI is slightly different from the logic when talking to pipes.
(This was just a theory and there might be details in the interactions between mods here that I've missed.)
Do the added biomes appear in an already existing world or only in a world which is generated after the installation of the mod?
And if the mod didn't work on already existing worlds, is there any possibility to enable it in my existing world?
They will appear in an existing world, but only in areas you haven't explored yet. When you reach those parts, there will probably be an ugly, linear scar across the landscape where the old terrain meets the new terrain.
mine won't work i think it's because off block ID problme but can u verify it for me
You'll need to post an error log for us to be able to help you. Please follow the instructions on the OP regarding how to post your Forge log. Please remember to use spoilers when posting the log.
So, are we getting a 1.5 port of the current EBXL or are we going to have to wait till the new version is done. I hope a port is being done cause I really don't want to start a new world on the server without EBXL.

Last week, some things developed in real life that prevent me from continuing with my commitments regarding Minecraft and gaming, in general. It is with a heavy heart that I have spent the last several days working with MisterFiber to transition the mod's development assets to him.
Completely by coincidence, we recently added Exterminator Jeff to our team. Jeff shares my philosophies on mod development and MisterFiber has selected him to replace me leading the development effort. Jeff and I have discussed the plans I had for ExtrabiomesXL and I know he is capable of fulfilling the vision. Please welcome and support him the way you have me.
I doubt much will change, as I heavily relied on my teammates--most of what you see day to day is them. The team is committed to success and I look forward to seeing what they produce in the future.
I have been very verbal about my appreciation for this community. As I exit, I hope that many of you will recognize the efforts that those on this team make every day and that you will have respect for the examples they lead. This thread is different than others because of their commitment to patience and politeness. I would ask you to follow their lead.
I realize that this announcement is rather dramatic. I personally hate drama and apologize to you for that aspect of this. I can assure you that my reasons for leaving are actually rather banal.
Thank you for all of your support and encouragement over the last several months!
Scott
Scott; I never thought that this moment would come so soon, time flies when we're having so much fun my friend!
I'm sad to see you leave, sad for many reasons. I hope those responsible will at least have enough sense to feel some shame for what they have done to the entire community and to this game, but mostly to you and to those of us who love having you in our lives...
But no matter what else has happened no one can now reverse the incredible sea-change in the course of Minecraft occurring due to the deep and powerful additions you have made to Forge and what you have also set in motion with EBXL and the relationships that you have forged and help to create throughout the community. You have set a tone and standard amongst many in this community and served as a living example of how to bring fun into what we do here by how we choose to get along with each other and work together towards common goals.
Your presence and what you have given us all will be felt by us for so long as this game and genre exist, and affect us even longer than that.
I selfishly hope that it will be possible for you to still interact with the community for as long as is possible, and perhaps even return to a greater degree at some point. But only as it is possible to do so while still taking care of the most important things in your personal life, they must always come first for all of us.
Also; Thank you for the thoughtful way in which you have worked to transition everything and set the project up for continued development. There are many who wouldn't have even done that under the circumstances but would have just left. That is courage, strength and just downright classiness.
This is not a good-bye I hope, but merely a Thank You for all that you have done for us and for the kind and constructive way in which you have always done everything. You are and always will be appreciated Mr. Scott Killen!

It is good to meet you. If Scott and Mister Fiber trust you with continuing this next revolutionary upgrade to EBXL then you are a friend in my book.
I hope that you will find your part and contribution to this worthy project exciting and satisfying! By now you probably know what an amazing and wonderful thing it is that you will be helping to bring to the world with EBXL 4. It really will change everything, and for many many people. The radically fun and deep experiences that this will make possible for the entire community will set the standard for what is expected from Minecraft, and will likely end up improving vanilla minecraft itself.
It is still broken, on both the copy, and the main download. Still pops up a warning saying that it could harm my computer. I click keep, and it says corrupted or broken.

Sadness! No! Sniff!
So long, and thanks for all the biomes and decorations.
(I can't thank you for all the fish, because we still only have squids :-).
We shall do our best to carry on. One final picture ...
