This mod shows some information about the village you're currently in. For technical reasons, it is limited to SSP. However, I thought it might help people to better understand the mechanics of villages.
Yes, unfortunately it's not possible to make this work in SMP (remote server).
I haven't included that yet (as well as the exact breeding lock timer) because it requires modifying another file (village class) and I wanted to keep the mod small. If there's demand, however, I can make a second version of the mod for that.
For the time being you can also use NBTEdit (or any NBT viewer), and open data/village.dat in your save folder. You should find the values under "Players".
Bad choice of words Yes, I'd consider that demand.
Just noticed that it's possible o get the reputation without modifying the other file after all. So that's definitely on my todo list. I'm not sure though if I can make it show the reputation of other players, too. Is that something you'd like to see as well? And how about the "breeding lock" timer (currently shown under breeding status with Yes/No only)?
How would showing the reputation of other players even work, since doesn't this mod only work for SP? Or I guess there's LAN sessions now huh, that still counts? I don't know if it should need to show everyone's popularity, that might be too much extra text on the already crowded debug screen. Personally, I don't see myself needing it as I play by myself almost exclusively, though obviously I can't speak for anyone else. Adding the timer instead of just "ok/stopped" to the breeding status shouldn't make it too busy, though. Maybe something like "breeding status ok/breeding stopped; resumes in x:xx" or similar?
I had heard 1.4.5 was supposed to be friendly with 1.4.4 mods and servers, and yet many mods I use have updated to 1.4.5. I don't think much really changed from 1.4.4 to 1.4.5, so is the 1.4.4 version sufficient until there's a major update?
1.7.10 is total cake , nocakeing any caked recipe work , tried to make el steel now furnace kick coal out , srsly all mods that was upraded to 1.7.10 is stink cake
just delete this caking mod and install 1.6.4 they work at least or make your own mod without caking yourself all day and night because there is some caked recipe that dont caked work
Wish this mod would work on MP, at least for staff members. I'm trying to expand this village and I'm not sure if is really working.
The server uses bukkit, so if anyone know of any similar plugin for it, I would appreciate it.
I really love the mod, it's what i have been searching for for weeks,
only problem is:
It has compatibility issues when installed with "what's my light level" and "rei's mini-map"
and i see the you have fixed it for rei's mini-map but,
i would love it if you do the same with WMLL (as in support for all 3 together) since i need your mod to get information of the villages and "WMLL" to tell me where to put lights to stop mobs from spawning in the villages.
again it's just a note, if you don't feel like doing it, it's ok
Yes, the reputation is stored in the village.dat file just like the rest of the village data (position of houses, center, etc). But once a village unloads ingame, the village will also be removed from the file. So your reputation should be restored after a game restart, but not if you have it unload and then return to the village. Again, the exception might be if the village is somewhere close to the map's spawn point, as that area is always loaded.

Huh...seems like that kind of defeats the purpose of having a reputation in the first place, yeah? You kill some guys, become known in the village as a vile murderer, and the town's defensive golems are instructed to kill you on sight. But then you just go for a quick jog a couple hundred meters out of town and when you return, they're all like "why hello stranger, never seen you in these parts before. Want to trade some wool?"

Agreed, but the reputation system overall seems very immature. There are no benefits for having a high reputation and there's only one penalty (golems attacking you). Plus, trading with villagers is the only way to gain reputation.
No plans, sorry. As stated in the front post, it's not possible to get the same functionality without a server side mod. It might be possible to simulate the villages client-side, but it wouldn't be exact because some things happen randomly. It should be sufficient to check houses though.

Village Mechanics: A not-so-brief guide - Update 2017! Now with 1.8 breeding mechanics! Long-overdue trading info, coming soon!
You think magic isn't real? Consider this: for every person, there is a sentence -- a series of words -- which has the power to destroy them.

I'll probably release a new version with player reputation in the next few days though. It'll be based on 1.4.5 of course.

Also added WMLL version. Let me know if it works =)

Not as of now, but a stick to screen feature shouldn't be too hard to make, so I might look into that.

I might look into that in the future and create a separate mod. No promises though
