I'm sorry that this isn't mod related, but you seem to be the foremost expert on village/villager behavior. I've got a problem that at sundown, AI Move shoots through the roof and doesn't cease. Apparently it's about 400 villagers all trying to crowd into the same square(s) in a giant house. Since they are already technically in a (the) house, how can I get them to spread out and subsequently relax? Seems when they are calm and not bumping each other like crazy, the cpu load is at a minimum. It would let me run my golem farm unattended if I didn't have to sleep this strange behavior away.
I'm having the crashing at start up problem too. This is my first mod install--I'm on Mac OS X 10.7.4, and dropped the .class file into the .jar (after changing to zip and opening the file), deleted the meta-inf file, re-zipped, changed file extension to .jar, deleted the extraneous files that were created in this process, and started up minecraft. It goes through the loading process, then freezes on "Done Loading." I delete the modified .jar, replace with my backup of the original, and it runs fine. Help?

You don't have to extract or rezip anything. Just dop the class file in there (overwriting the existing file), and delete the meta-inf folder.
Also, make sure you're using the right version (1.2.5 for the most recent mod download).

Sorry, I only know little about villager behavior. As far as I know, they try to get into the closest house, and then try to get in a certain distance (within 4 blocks I think) of a certain block (I think 2 or 3 blocks behind the door inside the house). You could try building additional doors in your house (to get several houses internally), or try to block the path to the block they're trying to reach. Not sure if it would solve your problem though.
Ah! I can't wait for an SMP version. I hope someone could help you with that. I'd love both of you forevers!
A SMP version would require the server to be modded too because the client has no clue about how the server handles the villages (the server would have to be modded to send this info to the clients).
My number of houses keeps changing. They don't stay then same, even when I'm doing nothing.
That's normal, especially with big villages. Sometimes houses get detached from the village if there's no villager nearby for some time. As soon as a villager approaches the house again, they get readded to the village.
A few versions back (1.2.3 I think), this was much more noticable because a single house could get added multiple times.
I really love this mod, but I have a huge problem. I almost always play with the Technipack launcher on Technic SSP, but this mod just isn't compatable with the others. There seems to be another aiy.class file in the .jar and that's not letting me install it. It would probably be a lot of work to try and make it compatable, but it would be amazing if you would try!
ais.class was 1.2.3. They change that every patch (or every other, for small patches). aiy.class (1.2.5) translates to GuiIngame.class (named by the mcp guys). So it's basically responsible for the all texts and stuff you see normally. Some mods may only use it to include their mod name somehow. For other mods, it may be essential (e.g., showing minimap). So try installing the mod last. If one of the mods aren't working anymore, or minecraft won't start at all, let me know, and I'll try to make a merged version.
@93calcetines: yep, this appears to be more complicated than just merging two mod files. I'll see what I can do
In the village that I am expanding, I have noticed a problem with this mod... counting all my doors that are connected to a house is 9 and your mod detected that the first time I installed it, however, saving and quitting the world and re-opening it changes heaps... The amount of houses being detected is 3 or 4, the centre of the village changes, what's going on?
Well, it's not like the mod itself analyzes your village; it merely pulls the data from minecraft. So most likely the problem isn't the mod, but your village.
Minecraft always resets the whole village after a restart (village data are not stored in your minecraft save). There could be several reasons why you only get some of your houses recognized. Probably it's because there's no villager close to some of your doors. For a door to be added to your village, a villager must be within 32 blocks horizontally, and about 3 blocks vertically.
If it were zombies, the count wouldn't change after server restart.
No, unfortunately it doesn't work for SMP. The reason is that the village data is only available on the server and never sent to the client. So it would only be possible with an additional server mod.
Edit: I just downgraded to 1.2.5 and it works on my village. So apparently snapshot not supported.
Thanks for the mod
