Nope, nether is pretty hardcore already (especially with some help of existing mods). The End used to be a joke when I started this mod, and although Mojang fixed some issues with the dragon, it's still pretty easy and boring :). Also, I'm finally adding stuff to the wiki, including details about Stardust.

I don't really play Minecraft atm because of lack of time and it's been ages since I played with some mods, so I can't really recommend anything. Try to look for some hardcore modpack, that should have all sorts of goodies :).
Update 1.3.1 has been released!
Mostly bugfix and tweak update, this should fix all of the recently reported crashes. The major feature of this update are Essence Altar sockets, before those appear on the wiki, I'd suggest playing around with some metal blocks - maybe you can put some inside the altars :).
This is also probably the last update for 1.6.4, unless there are some serious issues with it. I'm going to concentrate on updating HEE to 1.7.2, which might take a little bit of time - so stay patient :).
/EDIT/ Updating to 1.7.2 is postponed, there are too many unfinished things in Forge so I wouldn't be able to update some of the features yet.

I think almost all normal mod players still use 1.6.4, just because great mods (incl. yours) are not updated and especially the combination of many mods on servers prevents any updates on those servers, even if some mod got updated to 1.7.x. You can't include updated mods, without updating the whole server too. Which means you can't use all those not updated mods, you had before. And I believe many big mods will have bugs here and there, after a update to 1.7.x, because of bugs in Forge and who knows where else. ^^ It will take some time until everything gets stable at 1.7.x (with mods) and then would be a good time to update anything to a newer MC version.
Don't you have to constantly fix you mod, because Forge gets fixed or any other library/api/depended stuff? I mean you made everything right, just because something changed beyond your control. It might get annoying, or?
So it might be a good idea to wait and drink tea anyway, it's stress-less and the end-product could be better. And then I see all those update begging posts all over the board...
Current version of Forge for 1.7.2 isn't really usable for big mods, since a lot of features are missing. Rewrites can be fun, although the progress on new features is halted, which is unfortunate. I hope Forge will get usable in 2 weeks, that's expected time for another (somewhat major) HEE update.

New translation system is ready!
Whilst using PO Editor, I found the project to get very close to the limit of translated strings (for which I'm really thankful to all the contributors ), but I needed to switch to a system that would have no limits - so I decided to write my own one! And I also included a bunch of useful features that PO Editor didn't have, such as custom file formats and exporting all languages at once.
Right now, it is in beta stage, so it is possible that there are some hidden bugs, even though it was tested a lot during the development, but it also means that there will be more updates to it, which is why I'm looking for feedback! If you want to translate, go ahead and let me know of any suggestions to make the system better.
If this is a simple ID error I apologize for posting it here.. but I can't make sence of this crash report which mentions HEE as the reason for crashing my modpack on startup.

I went to get the logs to show you, but in doing so I decided to research a problem that was showing for Perm Gen space, and found a handy topic suggesting to add "-XX:PermSize=256m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m" to my parameters which fixed the problem. Sorry for taking your time. At least now i know how to fix this issue for me and my friends and I don't have to get rid of this lovely mod. Continue the great work.
