Remember how easy it was to build a mob grinder before Ravines, Mines, and all of the other underground structures? Well this mod will let you relive those days. Basically the inverse of my Miner! mod, you will fill all of the world below the region you have selected. To prevent this from being a resource spawner, All of the air pockets fill with glass blocks. None of the water, lava, or other blocks are affected. So...
1) Craft 2 cubes. the "Start" and the "Helper".
2) Locate them at the corners of the area you want to clean up.
3) Enjoy your grinder.
I don't understand how this affects making mob grinders, but cool.
Mobs spawn based on available land and lighting within a certain chunk distance. If you have underground caves, a certain percentage will spawn there instead of on the surface/in your grinder.
Very useful little machine, like your miner/clearer. My only complaint is that tallgrass is not replaced with glass. Otherwise it's fine.
It's an easy edit to make. I've also had a request for a different base material. How would people feel about turning the starter cube into a "dispenser." Basically add in the material you would like to use to fill the region in. The only reason to keep it glass is going to be my follow-up mod that will break all connected glass blocks. This way you can quickly re-open those caves you just closed up if you ever want to.
Hmm. I think it's better to keep it as glass, since other options can be used for resource generation. Or do you mean filling it up with a ton of stuff, and it places what you put in it? In that case, I hope you keep the free glass-fill as an option.

The resource issue was why I made it glass in the first place. What I'm thinking is that the default setting will be glass but that if you could put an alternate block in place. It would be a resource generator at that point but if someone wants to use it that way.... well why not I suppose.

It will only place a glass block in an air pocket. Unless you have already cleared out a space, you wouldn't get any glass in the water.
That said... I could make a mod that did do that.

By request I will be trying the base cube to accept different materials so that you can control what blocks spawn. Any other feedback from people?
