Or if you work with pistons and redstone you can make it were if you step on one it closes (or opens) doorways!
i have read every reply to this post, i have just chosen not to respond. sorry, the main reason for that is because i have not looked into how to do that, so i don't have a proper response. do mobs have an id like blocks, or something similar, what would you enter into the config to say you want X mob to spawn. once i figure that out, and do a quick rewrite of the mob spawner system i can add that.
as for trip tripwires:
the problem with Dispensers, is that there is a 50% chance you will see them from the other side and just loot it. i have been trying to not add new blocks, but i may add a block that looks like stone, but acts like a dispenser and turns into one when activated.
and any complex redstone traps are just about impossible with 100% random generation.
the problem with tnt, is the activation place is too big, i would have to place a lot of tnt. (but maybe that's not so bad?)
this is my first mod, and my first post for that matter. so please keep that in mind. sorry if i make any spelling errors, i am no good at it.

This mod adds a new dungeon type to minecraft. While the default dungeons are small and boring, the ones in this mod are bigger, more interesting, and a lot harder!...

hopefully i will be able to get a base update out tonight. but that may not happen if there are complications. but if all goes well i will have a 1.3.1 version out tonight, and some new features on or before the 8th.

ok i just started copying it over, and almost lost the entire thing, im guna leave it alone for a bit. i may try again later tonight. but the earliest ill get it out would be tomorrow morning.

Oh, sorry to have bother you so bad about it then, but yes, the mob spawners do have special damage id (such as Spider Spawner = 52:52, Zombie Spawner= 52:54) and when a mod add mobs to Minecraft, they also get a special Entity ID which act like a extension to the Mob Spawner block (E.g. Mob X Spawner = 50:9999).

Well, Dispensers can shoot arrows though Cobwebs and Vines... o.o
True on that... I was thinking about the Jungle Temples, but those aren't really "Random"...
That is true, plus that would really destroy most of the Dungeon if activated...
Maybe something with a closed Iron Door to room with lots of mob spawners in it that opens when you step on the trip wire so that it lets out a swarm of mobs after you?
