This mod currently adds five new world types:
(Beta 1.8.1 not shown)
If playing with the alpha 1.1.2_01 or indev generators, remember to turn off smooth lighting for the classic minecraft experience!
Lapis lazuli will be generated in alpha 1.1.2_01 worlds. Seeds can be obtained by using a hoe on grass, although this only applies to the default hoes and not ones that are added by mods.
Lapis lazuli and redstone will appear in indev worlds. Seeds can be obtained with a hoe like in alpha 1.1.2_01.
New in update 6:
You now have the choice to play with either default settings or to further customize the generators. A screen will appear after clicking create world where you can choose what to do.
For beta 1.8.1, beta 1.7.3 and alpha 1.1.2_01 you can enable or disable individual structures. If you choose to play with default settings then the normal structures button will be used. Ravines can also be turned on or off. Structures and ravines are not supported in indev.
For beta 1.7.3 you can also change the size of the biomes and choose to replace rainforests with jungles, which look great on 1.7.3 terrain.
A file named world info.txt will be created in the world folder (where level.dat is). This file shows which options are enabled for that world.
DEPENDENCIES:
Required: None.
Recommended: Either ModLoader or Minecraft Forge.
Either ModLoader or Forge is needed to use the classic grass and leaf textures with the alpha 1.1.2_01 and indev generators. The generators can be used without it, but grass and leaves will not have the classic bright green color.
This is what alpha 1.1.2_01 and indev worlds will look like with neither ModLoader or Forge. Close, but not quite right.
COMPATIBILITY:
Should be compatible with most mods as long as they don't replace va.class or xe.class.
That is, if something adds a custom world type it might not be compatible.
Compatible with Forge as long as you install it before Generator Ports.
INSTALLATION:
Create a backup of minecraft.jar
Copy everything into minecraft.jar
It won't load properly if you put it in the mods folder added by ModLoader.
Delete META-INF!
If you intend to play with an old world, read "README FOR OLD WORLDS.txt". If not then select the generator by using the world type button.

Question: is it compatible with better than wolves?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
if i behave weird in my post; it's not that i am weird actually. I like to pretend being weird just for the satisfaction of me and to make the community feel more normal. herpy herpy derp. btw, comic sans.
Question: is it compatible with better than wolves?
It should be. If better than wolves adds biome specific content then that might not appear in worlds with the 1.7.3 generator, but otherwise there shouldn't be a problem.
I can confirm that this mod does work with Better than Wolves. I have that mod as well as Better then Buildcraft, Buildcraft and several other mods installed.
Yeah, I'm going to use your version untill The Nostalgia Factor gets updated. You should REALLY join their dev team, your seem like an excellent modder to my eyes.

I'll have to ask UGoBoom, but he will help with The Nostalgia Factor nonetheless.
One thing I really miss from 1.7.3 are the biome coloured skies.
Although some people might say it was hardly noticable, the colour changes were drastic enough to add to the general fell of beta. It's a commonly overlooked feature when it comes to nostolgia mods. I had too suggest it to Exalm before he added it into NBXlite. If it's not too much trouble, do you think you can add it into your version.
Excellent! Thanks for sorting that out, there'll be a mod spotlight type thing for this mod in one of my episodes from my Minecraft Mountain Madness series. And it'll certainly stop people from spamming me asking "How did you get this world?" and them moaning that seeds before 1.8 don't work after 1.8... :biggrin.gif: :smile.gif:
I'll definitely have to check out your series then. :smile.gif:

Fixed. Update should be up in not too long.
That was actually something I meant to add from the start, but got distracted and forgot about it. So thanks for reminding me. :tongue.gif:
EDIT: Things are going a bit slower than I expected. The fix will be in the next update, which will be out sometime tomorrow (GMT+1).
It took longer than I expected but now it's done and uploaded. It includes the sky color fix suggested by Daniel_l94, but also a whole new generator. Well okay, an old generator, from minecraft aplha 1.1.2_01!
Wow, this actually seems quite cool. Downloading. Btw are you going to be adding older gens like Indev? Guessing you are, as you seem to be adding 1 or 2 update gens at a time.
I've been thinking about it, but I'm not sure how it should be done. Indev uses a finite map, which can make it a pain to port (especially for extra tall maps). I think it's possible, but I can't give you any guarantee. I'll do some research and see what I can figure out.
Would people prefer if I tried to make the generator infinite (which I'm a bit skeptical about), or should I just make it generate an infinite water/lava ocean around the map?

Oh ok, yeah no pressure. By the way, so do you mean a infinite indev map? If so, that would kinda defeat the point of porting a indev generator in the first place.

Yeah, that's what I think too, but it's nice to hear peoples' opinion on it.

Yeah. I noticed that you edited your post a lot after i replied to it just now. Haha i'm the same way, i always end up saying something that makes me sound dumb or uneducated that i change.
I can confirm that I'm going to add the indev generator, which will be the next generator added to the mod.
I've deobfuscated it (to a runnable state), which I really don't want to do again! Now I need to extract the relevant parts of the code, write code to "glue" it to the new generator and write a generator settings screen to emulate the old one. This will probably take a couple of days.
Then you can all enjoy a nice dose of nostalgia! Also, indev maps could work well as survival type maps because of the limited resources.
Beta 1.8.1, beta 1.7.3, alpha 1.1.2_01 and indev!

I'll have this fixed in not too long. It ain't minecraft without ssssssSSSSSSSS!

Thanks! That's what I was aiming for, simplicity and compatibility.
I highly doubt it, they don't seem to like going backwards.
Try More World Types, it has 1.7.3 and more.
Like Melontopia, All Caves, Skylands, Netherlands, Etc.
Didn't know about that one. Anyway, it doesn't matter. I'm planning to add more functionality to this one which will make them more different.
