I'm getting the same thing as the 2 other guys before me:
If I order Minions to strip mine (4 to 6 of them) in different directions at the bottom of a mineshaft I sometimes get the "saving chunks" screen and then this in my console:
It only happens about 50% of the time, so I have no clue what the minion could possibly be encountering that is causing this error.
Is it possible that it is too much to have more than 4 minions strip mining at the same time? The game doesn't slow down or anything and I have 6GB of ram allocated along with quad core, 64bit java, so I'm pretty sure it's not something that the computer itself is unable to handle.
This also happens with a new world and no other mods installed.
Anyways, just thought I'd post to see if it helps any.
Edit: This is probably small and I'm wondering if anyone is getting this:
If you order one minion to start strip mining and then after a few seconds order a 2nd minion to start mining, the first minion will sometimes skip a block or two almost like his programming gets interrupted and he skips what he is doing.
Seems to happen to any minion doing anything when I send a strip mining command out to a new Minion.
As for your crash message - no idea. The Minion Threads are volatile, seperate and whatnot and shouldnt ever cause a MC crash.
For the same reason one Stripmining Job cannot effect another ... they are 2 completely seperate "Objects" in java
After looking through the last several pages of this thread, going back as far as the creator's post saying the feature was introduced, I cannot seem to find how to define the custom spaces I want my minions to excavate. Can anyone help?
It Isn't. When I try to define a vertical 9x9 shaft, it's trying to dig horisontal 9x3 cave.
And I can't set width to an even number.
You actually get the space rendered for you before you issue the order, and while i didn't test much, i know for sure Minions try to dig our exactly that space.
You can't set an even number because i didn't want to deal with LEFT and RIGHT sides of spaces.
Can anyone explain why I'm level 8, got to be so by killing lots of zombies and stuff, click "Commit to Evil" and the menu just disappears?
I had that issue, but it's easily fixed by putting the mod_minions_evils.cfg into the .minecraft/mods folder
@AtomicStryker: I just spent half an hour browsing through the mods section on planetminecraft (the popular section even), and i couldn't stop thinking why the hell are so bloody many mods that do pretty much nothing at all?. A lot of crap that's entirely pointless and unoriginal...
I am glad that at least some people make original and interesting mods. I love your minions mod and Kenshiro and MagicYarn as well. (also ropes+ but thats not really original). Kudos to you for actually making something interesting and fun.
i have a minor compatibility issue to report. with the newest version of thaumcraft if the minions mine any of the 6 vis crystals it only rarely deposits the item in the chest. please take a look at the mod "thaumcraft 2" and see if it is fixable? it is a forge mod. if the issue is something that needs to be changed with the thaumcraft block instead, say so and i'll contact them.
There are, however, 3 minion abilities I would love to see.
- Level ground: similar to the "dig" command, with a fixed height of 3 or 4 (and selectable width), but they will try to fill in the lowest of the 3 (or 4) levels with the block you targeted when giving the order. e.g. target a dirt block on the ground, and they will fill holes around it and dig away any obstacles.
- Build house: just a basic cube shape. they should be able to pick up wood from nearby chests or the ground to start building.
- Resume last job: save the last mineshaft/house they were making and let them resume doing so. (that's basically necessary for houses so you don't have to start over if they run out of materials, and its VERY handy for mineshafts)
PS: right click on water to make them fish for you =P
Alright so, I have both the client and craftbukkit versions fixed but I cannot log on my server because of "The server requires you to have the following mods:" "mod_Minions 1.2.3 @ MC 1.2.5" and i've noticed that my client version is 1.2.4. The problem is obvious but do you have any plans to update it?
Love the mod as far as i've tested it in SP though, thanks.
Minecraft randomly crashes when my minions are ether digging a shaft or strip mining. this ONLY happens when they are digging/mining. does anyone have a fix for this? my error report is posted below.

Same thing is happening to me.
Pushed small client only update (no new version number)

Rather, tell your server owner to update.
According to this post, it should not be happening.
I did download the latest version off of http://atomicstryker.net/minions.html
Added the up to date bukkit port for you.
My army of minions are now happily reforming the world.
