There is a mod that adds Jungle as a world type, like how there is 'Flat'. It makes a world that is all Jungle biome.
Lava superheats sand means you place sand near to lava and it instantly turns into glass.
Minable glass - simple enough, you can mine glass.
I used FernFlower to decompile MineCraft, and then I edit the source code using NotePad, and recompile using javac.
It's very difficult and time-consuming, because you have to work on obfuscated code, that's why the mods are fairly simple.
It's best to also have a window open with the MCP-decompiled source code of the latest release version of MineCraft, so then you can see what your looking for. Because the variables are almost always named differently, you have to find numbers that are unique to the classes or strings. That helps you to identify the classes. Also, MCPatcher will tell you some of the class 'mappings'.
If you want more detailed instructions, send me a PM.
