Hey there guys, Had an idea for an addition to Your mod, thought I'd stop by and see what You guys all think.
As many mods (or in any case, Forge) are incompatible with Bukkit, this leaves most servers with very little in the way of protection for peoples things. I know there are permissions mods out there, but they can only do so much.
So, Heres what I was thinking: I know that Forestry/BC have an interface that recognizes who placed the block, and assign it an owner. I think it would be incredible if it were possible to incorporate this sort of feature into Your mod, as it would allow a simple way to protect Your stuff from other people, without requiring other permissions mods that unfortunately just don't cut it in most cases.
I don't know how plausible that is, but I figured it worth mentioning in case it is, as I love using these chests for their huge storage capacities, I just hate having them sitting there in the open, freely accessible to other people.
I also had the thought that perhaps(If You were to use the BC/For interface somehow) perhaps there is a way to turn off extraction capabilities? for example, if You try extracting from the top of a machine, You can only take things out of the top, the stuff in the sides cannot be taken. Maybe it could work sort of like the TE engines do, with a redstone signal for high or low, where one of the options prevents pipes, filters etc from being able to extract from the chest(as these bypass most other protections). I thought it might be worth mentioning as well, Hopefully You guys like the idea, maybe You could work it in somehow?

You should make a chest that when in your inventory and you die it gets placed on the ground and holds your stuff(Basically a death chest but for forge and maybe a bit more expensive)
Would it be possible to add double-iron-chests o this mod? Just as an aeshetic/optical feature?
Because I'm kinda used to having large chests everywhere... Just a simple "Put 2 ironchest in a crafing grid next to each other to create large iron chests" woud suffice. hat way people can still place the normal iron chests next to each other without transforming them.
When installing any version of Iron Chests, I get an error screen that says "Forge Mod Loader has founda problem with your minecraft installation. The mods and versions listed below could not be found"
Using forge build 517, with no optifine, and no other mods for "test purposes"... I have dramatic frame rate drops when opening any of the chests from this mod. It happens on more than one machine, so I'm pretty sure something is up. No errors are being thrown, it just has a terrible FPS drop when opening up any boxes.
This. I actually dropped multipage chests for this reason, and also because I felt they were OP based on the recipe.
This is sort of what I am looking for though, but not especially like CubeX's either. I was thinking about a big multiblock "chest" that acts more like a warehouse.
The idea isn't just a big "thing" to store tons of stuff. We don't get huge boxes and throw tons of crap into it in real life, right? When you have a crap of of mp3's, you don't just drop them all into one directory (at least you don't if your library is as big as mine is ). What I want is an organized storage mechanism, one that can hold lots of stuff, but does so in an sensible way.
It would be mighty hard - I'm a dot net coder, not a java guy - but I might have to give a go at doing this myself.

is the latest version compatible with 1.4.7? from what i can tell no? but not sure.
secondly, obsidian trapped chest, can this be added? i mean seriously, a nuke proof chest that emits a redstone signal, all sorts of evil ideas just spring to mind for protecting your stuff with that.
also are they able to survive the ICBM/UE explosives as well? or should they be contained with an MFFS field for that level of protection?
24 hours gone again, wasted in futility, welcome to minecraft modding, that is (unfortunately) our community.

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.
there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.

Try using forge build 518, I had the same problem (I was using forge build 499, for Optifine Ultra B6). but I upgraded to build 518 (because Optifine Ultra D2 is compatible with build 518) and now I can use this mod.
Any chance of a downgrade recipe from crystal to diamond? Or an upgrade from crystal to obsidian? After awhile, all these transparent chests get laggy, and sometimes you just don't want to stare at a chest full of zombie flesh.
For what it's worth, I'd love to see support for doubling chests from this mod. Perhaps even require it for higher-tier chests. i.e. if you want to get the full benefit of diamond, crystal, or obsidian chests, you'd need two of them side-by-side. You might consider *only* doubling those three, and reduce their single-chest capacity a bit to compensate.
If nothing else, allowing doubles provides more decorating options.
Yup, came in to report similar error as above. Latest iron chest release (plus daily builds) are requiring FML 4.7.22
As per the latest "official" release of forge: http://www.minecraft...hp?topic=4804.0 .. FML is 4.7.3.519, and Iron Chest mod wants something quite a bit higher than that.
Trying to find out what's what here. Will post up any solution I find ..
edit: Head on over to http://files.minecraftforge.net/ and grab the latest version of forge there .. working now on my local test .. well, it *loaded* .. now to really start testing

uh. some of us do that IRL.
and if you are good you can create a computer controlled inventory management system, but it requires Computer Craft, misc periphs, and OpenCCSensors.

You know, all for esthetical purposes^^
Use at least forge 22.
And then it says that FML 4.7.22 is missing...
