Finished version for Optifine 1.2.3 HD B, and mirrored it to mediafire.com.
Will update vanilla with improved microoptimization at next opportunity.

I am running the following and need to know what version of optifine to get and what version of the mq.class to get:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium* , Service Pack 1 (6.1.7601)

DirectX* Version: 11.0
Physical Memory: 2550 MB
Minimum Graphics Memory: 8 MB
Maximum Graphics Memory: 358 MB
Graphics Memory in Use: 98 MB
Processor: x86 family 6 Model 22 Stepping 1
Accelerator in Use: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
Video BIOS: 1566.0
Current Graphics Mode: 1280 by 768 True Color (60 Hz)

I hope this is enough info. Please let me know what versions I should use on this computer....

1.2.x uses ni.class now.

I'd suggest the current ni.classfor Optifine HD B _{(docs.google.com)}
and Optifine HD 1.2.3 HD B _{(optifine.net via adf.ly)}

Also;
Wolflink289 has created an alpha-compatible version of this fix, by substituting color4f for color3f. I have not yet tested it myself, but it merits mention.

I have not found the time to test the code provided by ThVortex and Wolflink289.

I welcome them, like everyone, to incorporate the code changes I have documented into their own packages.

Everyone is welcome to mirror and link to the existing packages.

And I am flattered to have the odd share request from people who are unfamiliar with Goovle Docs.

However to the three people (or two with five email addresses between them) who keep demanding total control of all files;
Go hug a creeper!

I will continue to use MCP to maintain this fix, and encourage those who want to help with this to look at other areas to improve.

Everyone else;
Here is how to set up MagicLauncher to get around the "Bad drivers problem" (long post)

download MagicLauncher
Run MagicLauncher. (Enter your username)

Click on the "Setup" button, were we to click "Test" afterwards this would lead to the familiar crash report screen.

This is the important step! Click on the "Advanced" tab, then enter 800 for memory (equivalent to -Xmx800m).

Clicking "Test" will now lead to a better out come.

Now return to the "Mods" tab, and "Add" the mods you have downloaded.
Make certain that the mods are in the correct order to be applied;
ni_meow[...] must be after OptiFine to work, otherwise OptiFine will override it.

If you have altered your minecraft.jar file earlier, you shoud see a few warning labels.

In theory you could return to the main screen, click "Options" then "Force Update" but...

Instead if you have made a backup before changing that file, you can click the "Select" button from the "Settings" window to use that backup.

Now everything should be Okay.
(Even with those warnings it will keep working if it worked before).

Did test changing color3f to color4f, like 1.0 and 1.1 (but allegedly not 1.2.3) this resulted in a sea of grey text on my machine
