I can't get godrays to work!!! I have turned off almost all the other post processing for max performance. (glare or bloom causes my fps to drop from 60-90 to 35-60, it's harder on my system than the freakin shadows, bug? :S) My system is i7 950, gtx 470, Vista. Don't tell me it doesn't support godrays. Are there any other post processing needed for the rays to work?
Okay so im on a mac and ive been trying to install this mod for a while
Ive installed optifine automatically with magiclauncher and that worked, but when i installed the shaders, i went back to the setup options, and optifine had an error. I logged in anyway, and it was just glsl shaders, and nothing else
then after playing a bit, like looging in and logging out, i just threw away magic launcher and used the original minecraft launcher
and i got this big, thick white line in my FOV, and its the only place where the shaders work i guess?
I opened up magic launcher and it was the same thing.
please help!

Disregard that post. I decompiled nitrous.jar and found that it's impossible.
To make it work with MCPatcher, I need to modify MCPatcher to make it call ModHooks.getHooks() when patching. MCPatcher is Open Source, so it shouldn't be very difficult.
This mod works almost perfect for me' but it gives me a REALLY low fps. I think it's because of the motion blur effect. How do I turn that off?
Go to your Minecraft.jar file, open it, go into the shaders folder within, open the final.fsh file. In there, put a // infront of any #define lines for effects you don't want.
Motion blur won't be causing most of your lag though. That goes to SSAO and Dynamic Shadows.
Is an Intel HD Graphics 3000, Integrated, 384 MB
And I said was an Intel Core i3, actually is an Intel Core i5, 2.3Ghz, with 4GB of memory
The game with the shaders works just fine, no lag, only problem are this segmented lines
Wow, you replied a lot of questions, really nice! :smile.gif:
Thank you
You'll probably need a new graphics card then. Intel Graphics Chips are non compatible with the mod. You can pick up some reasonable ones for less than $100, but you'll get low FPS (Hell, everyone does).
And thanks, I do my best to try and help people :smile.gif:
I see two problems with that, I love the sky ^^ But for testing purpose I've disabled clouds (Option: Clouds: Off) and there are still shadows on the sky.
Glare fixes up the sky for you. Yeah, there is a pretty visible difference without glare active, but glare basically adds... well... glare, of the bright blue variety in the sky, but different colours dependent on the block. Mostly fixes the lack of a normal sky.
How much minecraft normally uses memory? I run it via default, (just downloaded it from MC net, opened and it's working sweet without any problems), and I have 2GB of memory in my PC only. When I check how much java uses while I play it's usually from 700mb up to 1400 mb. (for most time it's 1gb up to 1400mb)
Generally 1Gb. Mine ends up using about 5Gb, but that's thanks to this mod, high resolution textures, TMI, and numerous other mods.
btw.
I don't check FPS metter, It's of no importance to me how much FPS i got in numbers. I measure it if the game playes smooth to me while I'm playing it and I barely see no difference in gameplay with and without the mods. It's playable, that's why I want to use it.
Yeah, that's what I go by for checking whether I can play a game or not, but generally you can link FPS numbers to how smooth it is (There have been some exceptions). 30+ FPS is good, 60 FPS is optimal, maybe 80-90 for competitive play. Anything below 30 is generally unplayable due to frame jumping.
btw. PC I'm running this on is:
CPU: Pentium Dual Core e2160 overclocked and working at 3,20Ghz
2GB of DDR2 ram overclocked and working at 1066MHz
Windows 7 x64
Palit nVidia GTS450
I'd personally upgrade the RAM a bit. 1066 MHz is slow by todays standards, and 2Gb is about a minimum amount. You should be able to get 4Gb 1600 for $50 or less, which will allow more to be allocated to MC, hopefully fixing some crashing issues.
I installed it like 10 times correctly and everytime i click on my world it spawns me in my world but everythings blue, like im looking at the sky or something. But i can move or anything
I've been having some problems with this mod and i'm really eager to get this thing working so i wondered if somoene could help me out.
The storry goes that when i install the mod the weavng grass doesn't show up + sometimes everything screws up all together.
But that aint the main problem, which is that i get horrible fps (5-11) on a laptop build for gaming.
I looked up if my GPU would work on this mod... and it said it should work fine, wich it doesn't.
If you guys would help me out it would be greatly aprecciated :wink.gif:
PC specs ( maybe the problem does lie here ) : GPU Mobilety HD Radeon 5870
CPU Intell I7
RAM 8GB
Built for gaming a few years back apparently, 5870 isn't a great chip. That partially explains your lag, but you can optimise the mod a bit to get it to run better using tips on page 52.
What it means by whether the GPU works with the mod is not whether it gets good FPS or not, but whether it encounters any errors like the no textures error or blue void error.
I have a big problem, i did everything right but i dont get the shadows, i have a circle around me that's white and I am on a iMac so it should be fast!
Even put the fastest settings...
Is this normal??
It is a problem some iMacs and Macbooks have, possibly caused by graphics card. Which one is in your iMac?
Also, for iMacs being fast, got to agree with this guy:
For Christs sake, read either thread. I'm going to stop replying to this soon. Let me spell it out in big letters;

Now, I'm cutting you some slack and actually responding as the response does get lost in back pages. Please, however, look through the previous 4 pages in any thread before you ask a question. It usually holds the answer.
When I start playing I install it correctly but I get blue particles on the screen and begin to lag and my PC is fine I'm not sure if it's my graphics card or what but it's not working.
Blue particles are likely glare, which can be disabled in the final.fsh
Lag is normal. What is your Graphics card?
Also, page 52 for Optimisation tips, makes it run faster.
Most of the time, when I launch minecraft, it just crashes when I try to load any world. Next, If it does work, 1/20 times, it's just all blue, and my inventory is all black. Tried looking at what I think is the ground, and opening my inventory, and it still doesn't fix it. Running Quad core Intel i5's with an Intel HD graphics card on my laptop. I'd really like to uninstall as this isn't working, and probably won't. Any Ideas without a complete reinstall of minecraft.
Intel HD graphics card is your problem. They are incompatible with this mod.
As to uninstalling it, force an update in Minecraft. Resets the .jar to its default, and you don't have to completely reinstall Minecraft. Sadly, all other mods will be uninstalled too.
In regards to the sky, disabling it only removes the skybox, the clouds, sun, stars and moon should still appear. There is almost no visual difference. If you want the shadows on the sky you must disable the sky. You probably wont even be able to tell the difference, I barely could.
I personally could see a large difference, especially at sunrise/sunset. Glare counteracts that in the latest version though so it is now almost unnoticeable.
Minecraft uses a rather low amount of memory, that works great for its normal rendering system. In most cases, you dont want to designate more than half your RAM to one program. Since you have 2, try allocating 1GB. I've got 2GB dedicated to minecraft, just in case, but 1 will probably resolve your issue, and give you a few more FPS.
By default Minecraft is allocated 1Gb RAM. Allocating 1Gb to it will do nothing, allocating 2 to it may help.
In regards to FPS, anything below 30 will affect playability. I have 2 EVGA GTS 450 (too bad I cant get SLI working), overclocked to 900 Core Processes. Since we have essentially the same card, you probably get just little less than the same FPS as me. Which is 30. But occasionally, when you skim that close to 30fps, lots of items and characters on screen will cause too much lag to the point it is unplayable. Destroy a full chest in game, you'll see what I mean.
Really, in competitive online multiplayer games, anything below 80 affects playability: Input lag can be a ***** when things get fast paced. Generally I can stand 25 FPS in MC, but anything lower and the frames start jumping, which is a big issue when I'm trying to build something. But yeah, 30FPS isn't a bad basic FPS to have. 60 Is optimal, but you can live with 30.
Also have the blue screen problem, Got the latest drivers & Everything though... :\
Specs:
nVidia GTX 560 Ti (1GB)
Windows 7 x64
8GB Ram (DDR3 1333)
Intel i5 2500K
Hrrm. Got any other mods running?
Did you change any of the .fsh/.vsh files in the shaders folder?
Do you have Optifine on it? If so, which version?
I have a very similar setup (i7 2600K, 12Gb DDR3 1600 RAM, Windows 7 64 bit, 2 Nvidia Geforce GTX 560Ti 2Gbs in SLI, though only one will ever work for MC)
Hi
I Installed the mod, but everything is very plain, funny colours and no texture.
does anybody know what causes this problem and how to fix it please?
Thanks.
I can't get godrays to work!!! I have turned off almost all the other post processing for max performance. Are there any other post processing needed for the rays to work?
Godrays in this are very bad, and barely show up at all. Kinda sad, but I've gotten used to it. From memory it was something to do with the shadows that caused them to not work.
As for bloom giving you that much of an FPS drop, that's not normal. It doesn't even effect my FPS.
If you are referring to why Intel Graphics Chips can't run the mod, they are crap, simply put. If you want to play games well, you get an ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce Graphics card. Intel don't make theirs for games, they make them for watching movies and looking at photos: The two easiest things for a graphics card to do really.

MagicLauncher doesn't work with this mod.
As for the issue of the white line, are you on a Macbook or an iMac?
If yes, what is your graphics card? Many iMac/Macbook users get that error, whilst no-one else does. No current fix sadly.
I read the first ~15 pages and the last ~15 pages and didn't see anything about this so please yell at me if it has been addressed. D=
I get a rather large amount of blue tint with this installed. Its mostly around the edges sort of like a glare but it appears in quite a few other places too. I've tried changing every setting i could see that looked helpful but to no avail. It confuses me because i have watched quite a few installations of this mod and they definitely don't seem to get the same effect.
Edit: I did something to fix it but i am not sure what lol. Spent about 2 hours yesterday messing with stuff and didn't get anything. Half awake this morning i fix it. Go figure.

i dont really know what a graphics card is or where to find it.
and when i installed optifine manually, i couldnt find out how to get the minecraft.jar back to normal, because when i converted the minecraft.zip into a minecraft.jar folder when i open up minecraft, it just got stuck on "done loading" and when i just didnt turn the edited minecraft.jar into the actual jar, when i installed the shadow mod, it said "fatal error"

-->Solved! This mod does not work with MagicLauncher.<--
I had to install the mods in the order of:
ModLoader
TooManyItems
OptiFine 1.1 Standard
Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders v1.1.03 (Windows)
all manually in the minecraft jar.
Hopefully this mod will work with MagicLauncher some day.
----------------------------
Trying to get this to work and I've been running round in circles.
I've currently got:
ModLoader
TooManyItems
OptiFine 1.1 Standard
Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders v1.1.03 (Windows)
I can get the Motion Blur shader working, but nothing I try seems to make the dynamic shadows to come up.
Things I've tried:
Remove META_INF from minecraft.jar
Double/triple install of the Nitrous installer.
Manual install of the alternate shaders.
Reducing the shadow map size from 4096 (in halves) to 512.
Starting from scratch with an unmodified minecraft jar. (Forced Update)
I've got 12 gigs of Ram, and a nVidia 285 video card, so I don't think hardware is an issue.
The only clue I get is an error log from Magic Launcher complaining about (1 error) from Optifine:
MagicLauncher 0.9.4
java.home: C:\Program Files\Java\jre6
java.runtime.name: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment

Is this the new glare setting? I could be wrong but I thought I read that its still beta and if it doesn't look right to just disable it and use Bloom instead.
Thats what i thought but disabling glare didn't make the blue go away yesterday which is why i said it was like a glare and was stumped to why that didn't fix it. I think i may have not saved properly during that time in my frustration though. Reducing glare amount reduced the blue a fair bit, and then reducing the ssao strength blasted it to a non-issue. After changing it the default 1.8 ssao strength seems insane O_O
Major thanks for this outstanding mod SonicEther. I really cant wait to go exploring some servers and see what wonderful shots i can get. I think my favorite thing so far is definitely the rare occurrence when god rays work perfectly, it really is just pure eye candy.
HELP!I got the shaders but i get a problem,my minecraft is full of green and white squares and everything looks the same,no shadows, just the green and white blocks. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!
BTW AMAZING sHADERS I REALLY WANT THEM TO WORK!
Is there any reason that the tree leaves wouldn't be moving, but everything else would work fine? (I've noticed that in most of the linked videos, most people don't seem to have leaves working, but the author's vid on the first page shows some awesome swaying tree leaves. Is that feature not in yet, or...)
For the record, installing the "SEUS Shaders Only" caused some errors, dunno if that's a problem with the uploaded file or installation error on my behalf (although I don't see what's so hard about drag-and-dropping the shader files into the shader folder inside minecraft.jar...) But in any case, it cause some crazy effects, I had much better luck just leaving it with the default shaders from the exe installer.
But everything seems to be working fine now (finally), got dynamic shadows and moving grass with no artifacts or visual glitches that I can see... I'm just let down that my tree leaves aren't moving, too.
I totally love this mod! My only problem is I have a super large white line through my game.
I would post pictures but im such a noob I cant even figure out how to do that :sleep.gif:
Edit:
Never mind I fixed it :biggrin.gif:
Ended up installing it twice and it seemed to work :tongue.gif:
Again Love this mod!
I'm also having lots of trouble when it involves other mods. It crashes to black screen but it refuses to output an error log.
I normally run with BC/IC/RP which need Modloader & MP, and Forge. Which are requirements for the server I play on and when this shader mod is installed i get crash-to-black after a minute or so of gameplay.
Possible incompatibility? I dont know.
What I do know is it runs smooth as silk with either Optifine A, or the Multithreaded Optifine on my PC. As soon as I add modloader and forge it goes awry but I haven't seen those on the incompatibility list. So i'm stumped!
People have been reporting that Forge is incompatible with this mod. If we want to work in compatibility, daxnitro is the guy for that, not me. I'm just an artist who knows a bit of GLSL, and as much about java as I know about the dark side of the moon.
Okay, plz. That's so wrong. Only because you are using a super-uber designed too expensive computer, it doesn't mean it's fast. Like it could be 6 years old. And also it's java.
No and that's not how it should look like. Maybe a complete reinstall will fix it.
well what i meant is that my mac its kinda new ... and i have tried to reinstall minecraft... sonic ether's mod... the computer(I know I was desperate :biggrin.gif: )...
So i don't know what to do (well java is autoupdate on my mac so .... idk)
