I don't get it, i install this mod w/o optfine and it gives me a big void, then i install optifine no shaders? also im on a mac so i have a folder and i try to install it after optifine i get something called "fatal error"?
If someone can help me i would really appreciate it, also if you want me to i can show u whats going on
I asked this a while back but I was wondering why it lags on my PC.
I have intel i7 860 with 8GB RAM and NVIDIA GT320. I don't understand why it would go down to 15 FPS after I play minecraft normally at WAY over 100 FPS.
Anyone have any ideas how to improve on that other than tweaking the shader?
I haven't seen any videos of this at night..so I tested it out by myself. In my opinion, I LOVE night time way more than day time. It's easier on the eyes and things that glow are much more pronounced! Very good job.
Just so everyone knows what I mean I uploaded a VERY quick video.
Has anyone got all the settings at the best quality and having a good frame frate?
And also, has anyone worked out the best combination of settings that gives out a good framerate, without sacraficing the most necessary visual effects?
I can easily run all the shaders with 50 or so FPS. Running dual 560Ti 2Gbs in SLI.
Best combination? What is on by default. Gives highest FPS for most features, though disabling SSAO should give you a significant FPS boost and not take away too much.
when I fly very high the shadows do not just fade out, but they also invert (shadows turn into bright spots and bright spots turn into shadows) using
/* SHADOWRES:4096 */
/* SHADOWHPL:90.0 */
also changed:
if (distance < 60.0 && distance > 0.1) {
to
if (distance < 240.0 && distance > 0.1) {
and adjusted
if (yDistanceSquared < 57600.0) {
I should probably make one convenient variable for adjusting draw distance of shadows. In fact, I'll do that right now, give me a few minutes.
And yes, I was wondering if anyone would want me to upload just the shaders alone. I'll put that up there too after I make composite.fsh more user-friendly.
When I try to open minecraft after installing this shader, and loading a world, it keeps getting stuck at "simulating world for a bit" and "building world" (flickers between the two without actually loading into the game). I tried just using optifine and the game runs perfectly with no problems, so there's something not right with the installation of the shader. Could anyone troubleshoot please?
Alright, check the original post again. I've added an "Additional Files" section and uploaded a .zip with just the shaders, so once you've installed my mod, you can always just open this zip and plop the files into minecraft.jar/Shaders
I've also edited composite.fsh to be more user-friendly in changing shadow render distance.
From this point on, when I do updates and adjustments/add shader effects the shaders themselves will probably go into the "Additional Files" section so I don't have to make a new installer every time.

==== Shaders Failed Installation ====
I got this exact error, but unlike in Speeshul's case, trying to install GLSL shaders manually didn't help. It's odd, because these shaders usually work for me. Am I still doing it right? This is what I did:
1. Install Optifine and delete META-INF
2. Extract the contents of the GLSL zip into the .minecraft folder (so that "shaders" ends up in the usual "mods" folder)
3. Run the Installer.exe
Yes, the glsl shaders use the same effects that have first been used by Farcry/Crysis. I waited for too long for this dynamic shadows in such a dynamic environment.
(there once was a similar shadow mod for minecrft beta 1.4 but its shadows where a static shadow map that did not work on transparent textures and it had too many issues and to few updates to ever become popular)
I completely agree! I couldn't wait for Minecraft to look something like this! I just didn't know that I'd be a part of it :tongue.gif:
Hmm, this was with 1.1? I really thought I fixed that already :sad.gif:
nVidia graphics card, right?
This doesn't happen on ATI, which is what I'm running. So, sadly it's hard for me to find a fix although I think I know what's causing it. Open final.fsh located in minecraft.jar/Shaders and comment out (add // to the beginning of the line) HIGHDESATURATE. Then save the file, make sure your modified version is in the jar, and load up Minecraft. Let me know if that eliminates the issue.
that just begs to know your screen resolution and how high your fulscreenantialiasing is set.
this mod really needs a dicsclaimer "if you have fullscreenantialiasing high or a high resolution, stop whining about surprisingly low performance compared to without this shader, no matter how much ram you have"
Yeah I run it in fullscreen at 1980 x 1020 or something like that. as for the other thing I don't know.

Maybe when it gets into a latter stage near perfection :wink.gif:

Those arn't doctored?
Pardon my french.
Holy mother****ing ****.
Bump mapping + Water shader + This = Next Gen Minecraft.

I got the game to load finally, but am having a similar problem as xragnellx, whereas no dynamic shadows are being rendered at all..
