EDIT AGAIN: I just found out it's optifine causing the problem... anyone else having problems should check if optifine is the culprit if you're stuck!
I've been steadily working on v09. I added dithering to SSAO to remove banding artifacts. I've also fixed how Ultra shaders behave when it rains so that interiors don't become impossibly dark. I'm going to put together some additional configurations that you guys can download as well. Those will include a version that draws shadows at a much farther maximum distance, and a super lite version for people who really just want color grading and mood without shadows or any effects. I might put together an "overcast" version to give the eye a logical explanation as to why sun shadows wouldn't be there, in which the sky will be a gray overcast color. It might give a cool 'gloomy' mood to Minecraft.
I've been working a lot on music and another game development project, so my progress isn't quite as fast as it was before, but please continue to check this thread for updates. v09 will be rolling out soon. Thanks for your patience.

Same issue, with exact came card. Even manufacturer is the same. I've updated the drivers and done everything short of trying anohter card (including reinstalling minecraft and re-modding from scratch) I have an i5 quad core sandy bridge. I also get sun inside caves, though I know you mentioned it was a known occurrence. Thanks!

Looks great otherwise!
From both an artistic and technical point of view, that looks like the drivers aren't reading the alpha channels correctly for graphics that are codded with OpenGL. Someone on a forum I visited suggested to change your 3D graphics settings in your card applet manager to force Trilinear Filtering to Off. Might give that a shot. Good luck!!
Edit: Did a COMPLETE reinstall, using the Ultra config, and it works AMAZING now- no strange sunlight leaking through into caves. I get a silly awesome framerate for everything this mod is doing. Still getting the strange color on stuff I break, but that is a VERY small price to pay for this:

You did install Optifine first, correct? This mod requires it

EDIT: Well I tried it again and it loads the mojang logo now! But after that is a white screen...
I guess you could try using multi-core optifine and/or giving minecraft more RAM.
Im using a mac btw
