My GPU is 5670 and the game runs on 25-35 fps with i7 2600
will it get better if I buy 6870 ?
Yes, I currently am Running the 6870 with no problems. HOWEVER with that said. Make sure you get the HAWK edition of the 6870. It will also look like R6870. AMD ( used to be ATI ) put this out to match the NVidia GTX 560 video card.
If you want to see what my card can do, take a look at my tutorial about this GLSL shader on how to install it for the 1.2.3 of minecraft. Of course now my tutorial is useless because of the 1.2.4. upgrade.. but it will give you a tutorial on how to install it in case you never knew how.
My tutorial
My demo of what it looks like in game with the GLSL shader. ( Note I made this before I made the tutorial )
On the demo, I show you my computer specs. IF you'll notice, I am running the i5-2500K. Your CPU ( i7-2600K ) is better then mine. So watch my video and you can see that the R6870 does a GREAT job with shaders. And I have seen frame rates as high as 100.
I would just like to take a moment to address something that is destroying this thread.

1- "Plz update to 1._._"
This is pointless, and is known as spam. This mod will be updated when OptiFine and the original GLSL Shaders are updated. Please, stop asking.
2-"How do I disable/enable ____?"
In all likelihood, this has been addressed in either the original post OR in one of the (currently) 205 pages. Please look it up.
If you cannot find it, the option you are looking for can likely be found in final.fsh in the shaders folder in your minecraft.jar.
3- "I have a ___ card and a ___processor, will this work?"
There are a huge number of cards and processors that you may or may not have. Unfortunately, Sonic Ether probably won't know. I would recommend (after backing up your minecraft.jar) that you simply try it and see! Then, you can provide screenshots or technical information that may be helpful.
Please, please, read this. SonicEther, maybe you should add this to the original post?

You must be new. The board itself is a smorgasbord of ignorance. Not just here.
Is it possible that a computer with a GeForce 8600 GTS video card can't take this mod? Because my computer lags a lot with it. :S
I have an GF 8800 GT and it runs at 50fps, windowed. Have you tried using another version of Optifine? Also, set the graphics to fast, and normal Render Distance.
man, its really heart wrenching about the amd graphics glitch, i bought this whole new rig to use it on minecraft and as you cant fix it without doing trial and error with the amd card, i was wondering if you would do your tests and whatnot on my PC via teamview?
Wow, this is a really cool set of shaders. I've always seen shader mods like this, but they were never compatible with IC and its prerequesites. Finally I got the chance to try this mod, and I'm impressed. It feels like Minecraft in CryEngine 3! I do have a couple comments to make, if you are open minded to suggestions:
-The moving leaves are amazing, but shouldn't be on 24/7. Perhaps some time-triggered event, similar to how rain works? This effect could also be bumped up by leaf particle effects, similar to what they did in Dear Esther.
Actually, that was my only new suggestion... It is so much fun playing with these shaders on, that I am just going to have to live with the glitchy shadows for now. I'm tripping out in minecraft! I've never spent so much time just staring... at stuff.

I have the XFX 6870, and I'm having no problems with it, either. The 6870 is just a great card in general
