Hey, great post, username_not_taken! I was getting about 40 fps, and in the general video settings I turned graphics to fast and that gave me about a 7-10 fps boost, turned trees and grass edges back to fancy in Details. Smooth FPS seems to reduce input lag at the cost of fps, so with this disabled I was getting about 50 fps. Pretty good improvement, I'd say! I'll put these tweaks in the first post.
Thanks for more tips. What are your views on using Glare ATM?
Also, I don't know why, but my graphics cards seem to like high resolutions. Dropping resolutions does nothing for performance - whether its dropping SHADOWRES or the full screen resolution. Got 2Gb VRAM if that helps x2 cards in SLI. I also for some reason get higher framerates when setting preload chunks to a higher value, and when setting the draw distance to very far (Which should supposedly cut my FPS down to a ninth of its current value, but I go up 1 or 2 FPS for some reason).
Might I also ask where to find FSAA to disable it?
Unfortunately, I'm having an issue with the mod leaving water and ice invisible on fancy graphics. Updated all my drivers only 5 minutes ago, so those are all up to date. I tried playing around with all of Optifine's settings, still no improvements (apart from switching to simple graphics). Shadows casted by water are all there, and the water still exists. It's just invisible. Couldn't find any solutions to this anywhere, so if anyone could help, would be very appreciated.
Mods installed are this one, Optifine, FiniteLiquid and Zipline.

Wrong topic. It seems to be cause by Optifine itself.
BTW: Motionblur dosen't work (for me) with the new version 1.1.03 overwrite this code in final.fsh if it (too) dosen't work for you or download already fixed by me http://www.mediafire.com/?i0wamn2a3jaylc0
This mod is lagging me to death on default settings.
Windows 7 64-bit and the rest of my computer is in my signature. Java and GPU drivers are up to date.
Any ideas?
Have you optifine installed? set all fancy things to fast or off ....disable weaving grass
place this in your shader folder in your minecraft.jar to disable http://www.mediafire.com/?c0o6xcliv38km4l
This mod doesn't work with any of the versions of optifine HD A3. however, when i run it without optifine HD A3, it does work. Any ideas why?
Running just the original GSGL shaders mod also only works outside of optifine HD A3. I've tried all 4 flavors of optifine and none of them work. Infact, all of them give magiclauncher an error. Even though the optifine thread says you need magic launcher.
[EDIT]
I have even tried manual installation of optifine using the method in the optifine thread (deleting META-INF and replacing the .class files)
You, good sir, are brilliant. Where did you find the height of the sky plane?? I was thinking about doing a similar thing but wasn't sure where the sky plane was rendered. Thank you!
I just try for every number of power of two. But I'm not sure on other systems.
* The shadow at night time is weird. There shouldn't be shadow on torchlight. (1.1.02)
Hrrm.
Anyone know how to enable SLI for Minecraft?
Simply put, GPU (0) is at 99% GPU useage, 100% Shader useage, and overclocked by 100Mhz core, and 200Mhz Shaders, trying to get back to my normal 80+ Framerate with shaders (Its not working. Overclocking has done nothing so far), and I'd really prefer to use SLI and just get an easy double on my FPS. Sadly, GPU (1) is at 0% usage on everything. Haven't found any way to get it to work, so if anyone can help, thanks.
BTW, loving the glare. Looks freaking awesome when you have things like Glowstone around (I'm guessing the large amount of shine they give off into the area around them is your glare no?).
This tutorial is not for you. It is for people whos graphic card is old and lonely. Normally a PCs GPU is much faster than its CPU, but your PC seems to be different from that. You have 2 cards with 2GB of ram per card and likely very fast GPUs.
Please tell me how high you can set SHADOWDETAIL and how far you can make shadows visible. set shadowdetail to 8192 or 16384 or 32768 or 65536 make videos of it if it works.
glare? I try not to think about it, its default setting is worse than bloom. It might have high potential and its nice for screenshots.
Making a video may have to wait, blooming thing stops recording MC when I put it into fullscreen and just records blackness instead - but I'll see how high I can get the SHADOWDETAIL set.
Ok, WTF?
I set SHADOWDETAIL to 32768 and my FPS triples. 30 to 90 just like that. I am clueless as to how on Earth that happened. Umm. New performance trick for Dual 560Ti 2Gbs: Set SHADOWDETAIL to 32768. Umm. What?
Edit: Ahh, Dynamic Shadows stopped doing their stuff. Wonder why...
Edit2: It seems that I can hit 16384 fine, but dynamic shadows cuts itself off if I input 32768. No loading problems or crashes, the shadows just don't work. Might be worth looking into for any who don't have Dynamic shadows working when they should be, turn down the res.
In addition to that, it made glare a lot smoother with it off, but turned off high desaturation, reduced world brightness and made HDR flicker like mad.
Anyways, that was at distance 360 for SHADOWPHL (Was that the right name?) and that other variable. Shadows flickered a bit so I've toned it down.
Anyway, system specs:
i7 2600K @ 3.4Ghz (I don't think I have it OC'd currently...)
P8P67 Mobo
12Gb RAM 1600 DDR3
2 x Gainway Nvidia GeForce 560Ti 2Gb Phantom 2s, the one that is running Minecraft @ 922Mhz core clock, 2004Mhz Memory clock [Default] and 1845Mhz Shader clock.
Edit3: Just realised I probably was in the worst place for testing or FPS when I did all this, so may retry later in a normal location. To put it in perspective, I recently went to that normal location and hit 80FPS as normal. I go to this location, 35 MAX FPS. Probably doesn't help that I've got about 2000-4000 small black lines being rendered as shadows thanks to the enormous amount of glass I have there. That also turned out to be the cause of Shadow flickering.
Actually, the creator of GLSL shaders runs it on what I believe is a macbook pro. Not exactly an X-TREME GAMIN RIG. I'd say to get playable FPS at around 1280x768 with a fair few of this pack's options enabled you'd probably want a graphics card with at minimum a 400mhz GPU. No idea on VRAM usage.
You can get an ATi/AMD Radeon 4850 for like $60 these days, and there are probably better options for about that much.
here it is a GForce hmm... 5000 and something and i was with most of the settings that affect performance on fast but it still was very very laggy...and the rest of the PC i don't know it wasn't me who bought it...it was my dad i just have 10 years and i don't understand too much the only thing i know about this PC right now is that it haves a GForce 5000 and something :/
EDIT:nvm it is a Radeon HD5550 with 1 GB DDR2 with ATI Radeon premium graphics ATI Stream GPU Processing,Onboard HDMI and DVI,CrossFireX Ready and 40nm process low power...and yes i just looked in the box :tongue.gif: and omg advanced memory and shader model 5 + openGL support...the screen is LG 710 E
Latest drivers? Latest version of my mod? Latest version of OptiFine? Try those things :smile.gif:

Optifine seems incompatible with this mod...
and yet we're told it requires it...
PC Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE
GPU: MSI Hawk N460GTX

Now I just have to wait for the modding API to be able to use this with the water shader mod :smile.gif:
