Is it possible to remove all the default recipes and create a .txt configuration file to add your own recipes using existing resources such as tools and armor?
I feel the very start could do with a slight change. Say leave blocks have a chance to drop sticks which you can craft into a tool to harvest wood? It's a great thing that the tech tree is a lot more interesting but still being able to punch trees has to go! For the rest, it looks really promising and will have a go with it for a while.

I suppose that's technically possible, I'll consider it :smile.gif:
Also, are you saying in your latest post that recipes should be locked by achievements? Interesting, but I'm not sure I'll be doing that.
Not specifically for your tech tree mod, but a fork in the road maybe? I think an achievement locked progress/tech tree would greatly enhance the early game and make for more interesting challenge gametypes, like the Tree Spirit Challenge or the City Builder Challenge.
Good looking mod, I will probably be trying it soon. Is it compatible with the Technic Pack do you know? Would be a neat addition in my opinion. Get that tech tree ridiculously big and complex (which is good).
Something to consider: seems too easy to make stone buildings, out of cobblestone especially. I mean we don't even have stone tools yet but we can build a cobblestone castle. A solution that comes to mind for me would be to make it impossible to place cobblestone and smooth stone blocks (problem is that might need base class editing) and instead require the blocks to be turned into a different place-able block (stone bricks perhaps). This recipe would require some tool of some kind maybe out of metal or at least stone.
You could add another interesting level to building out of stone is to make the blocks fall like sand unless struck with another tool (some kind of mallet I don't know) and then they would remain where they are. This means you would need to build some kind of scaffolding to place the blocks on then pin them in place.
Not sure if this is stuff you want to deal with as its not so much recipe related. Seemed to me that building techs should match the tool techs.
Anyway keep up the awesome work, could to see some modders dealing with aspects of the game not often looked at.
Updated the mod, changes are in the changelog in the OP. I'm also considering either...
A: Making charcoal no longer work as a torch ingredient or furnace fuel, but still be creatable for use in mods,
or
B: Nerfing charcoal by making it more expensive.
Any thoughts?
I think you should make it so charcoal burns less in the furnace than coal and creates 2 torches instead of four. Also will better than wolfs stewing pot still change string into wool?

Yes. Fortunately, that requires you to have a bucket and iron to make, so there's still no bypassing the modded tech tree if I'm not mistaken.
Awesome idea. I'm a huge BTW fan simply because the tech tree takes work. I like having that sort of depth to the gameplay.
Just the other day, I was thinking that the most fun I have is in the beginning when I'm trying to scrape together some sort of home and materials to get me started. That's really the survival part for me. After that, it becomes more of a really awesome game of Legos/Tinker Toys. Unfortunately, I've been playing Minecraft for so long that I can do basically all of the survival stuff in the first day, now. Thanks for this mod.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep this up to date, I'll see what I can do

No need to apologize, bro. Modding needs to be fun for you first. If it is, it'll bleed into your work, and the mod will be better for it. Good luck with the update. I'm interested to see how everyone handles the new API and whether it's really the miracle that we've been looking forward to or not.

Thanks :smile.gif:
The Wood Age
- Punch leaves to get sticks
- 4 sticks to 1 plank
- Hatchet: blank (top left), stick (bottom left), wood plank (top right), wood plank (bottom right)
- Campfire: stick, plank, stick, plank (used to cook food only)
- Complete X achievements to unlock stone recipes

I hope so
Yeah but the class file wouldn't be the actual virus just a messenger, so technically i'm correct.
