Not compatible with Xie's farming mod. You can log in, start a world etc but no items will spawn that you can gather etc. Plus the new soil types aren't compatible with the plants.
I have to admit, liking the mod so far. The only issue I'm really encountering is finding the cassiterite so I can continue with metalurgy (or however you spell it) besides that, everything else is fine
I want to ask, though, if this is a good suggestion for the prospector's pick: have it so that you can either select the range of blocks you wish to prospect or make it so that the higher the grade of the pick the larger the range you search.
Umm, I got Pig Iron but I can't work it into wrought iron, I've been heating up full bars of unshaped pig iron to white hot but I still can't work it in the anvil. I also have flux in there in case that's needed.
Found a bug!
Trying to use an automatic crafting table with saws and logs devours the saws with one use, never to return.
But hey, it outputs the three logs... (Does the same thing with axes!)
edit: Also, on the regards of gems, I would like to be able to encrust items and blocks with it! (Just have an entity like thaumcraft's charm on the block's side, with the color of the gem, and varying sizes for the varying conditions of gems [The better the gem, the bigger it is on the side of the block]!)
The axe being consumed in one use thing happened to me, but I was using the most recent forge version. I switched to 3.01 and the axes worked then. So maybe downgrade the forge you have?
Sorry Equivalent Exchange, I just discovered my new favorite mod!
It seems like all "Minecraft Overhauls" have been too scared to truly rework the systems in place. This is the best mod I've ever seen because it doesn't use flashy gimmicks or new blocks/items to pull people in. It simply relies on one (or several) person's genius and a lot of initiative to make Minecraft survival the way it should be. This is the first content mod I've ever seen which I completely believe should be vanilla Minecraft. Excellent work! I will absolutely be following the progress of this mod.

Alright, I have to be doing something wrong.
After starting a new world with the v1j hotfix, I spent 6 hours digging through an entire biome's worth of granite and found almost no minerals at all. So I started another new world and spent an hour flying around in creative mode just absolutely levelling the place and spam-right clicking with a gifted black steel prospector's pick, and while I found a ton of copper, hematite, galena, kaolinite, gypsum, and a host of other minerals, the one thing I did not find was a single speck of cassiterite. I ripped through an entire layer of granite. I found nothing.
Can someone, you know, actually confirm that cassiterite is spawning in the world? And if so, what version of Forge are you using? Because I've tried it now with both the version recommended by Bioxx, and the most recent recommended version, and I've yet to see a single piece of cassiterite ore, other than what I've spawned just to know what it looks like, through 6 worlds now.

Yeh, I've found a tone of other minerals on my world but no cassiterite in my whole biome. any way to run a block id scan on a world file to sse if its there?

I was going to install Industrialcraft2 and configure the OV scanner to detect only cassiterite and then go running wild with it to see if I picked any up, but it seems like IC2 is incompatible (and lacks a config file to change the blockIDs to make it compatible).

Config files aren't created until you run the mod for the first time. So run it, crash, note the error, then configure IC2.cfg.

I realize this. IC2 didn't have a list of blockIDs in it's config file when it generated it. Apparently it's a Forge bug that if two forge-enabled mods conflict, the conflictor doesn't get to write it's blockIDs before crashing out. I fixed it by removing TFCraft and letting IC2 start properly with a freshly generated world, which allowed it to finish what it was doing.
However, you can't configure the OV scanner to look for just cassiterite, because it's got metadata and the metadata-specific functions of the OV scanner aren't working.
hah, yeah I had the same problem this morning. I setup an extra copy of Minecraft, installed just IC to that and grabbed it's config file. Then proceeded to edit EVERYTHING in it since I was so tight on BlockIDs. Juuust made it.
What's this OV scanner thing, not sure I've seen/used it?

The OV scanner scans a 9x9 area, centered on you, to bedrock, and reports any "valuable" stuff it found as a value equal to something like (sum of all valuables/scan area). So if you're walking along you can scan the ground underneath you for goodies and then set up a mining rig if you find a hotspot of stuff.
If it would play nicely with metadata, you could use it to home in on a single type of ore by just walking around and clicking repeatedly. Which is what I was trying to do to find cassiterite, but alas, no joy.
It took me a while to get this mod running right...I think today's hotfix really helped. I'm glad i persevered. For the record, it does NOT work with Magic Launcher, but does work with Rei's Minimap, very important.
I want to ask, though, if this is a good suggestion for the prospector's pick: have it so that you can either select the range of blocks you wish to prospect or make it so that the higher the grade of the pick the larger the range you search.
You need a bronze anvil to work with iron.

Ok, got a bronze anvil, how do I turn it into wrought iron?
Math FTW
Minepedia is your friend.
Perfect model of default skin using coloured wool. viewtopic.php?f=1020&t=144504
Time for testing I think.
Its fun and interesting being forced to think so much more in this mod, but a parnter would be great.
Correction a person helping you would be great cause a dog can be a partner, a useless one :<.

Umm, what do gems do?
Can't wait for more!!!
