How do I update? Do I need to do it to a clean .jar, or can I just install it over top?
There are a good number of mods this is incompatible with, but you can try installing it over top.

Let’s play good guys against bad guys… Yes. Let’s play that. Are you ready? You’re the bad guy. And when you’re bad, you just run. That’s fine right? Well… Shall we play?
I'm definitely going to bookmark this, this looks really promising. I was watching " Mod Spotlight - TerraFirmaCraft - Part 1" by direwolf20 and it looks really interesting. I like all the new ways you have to do things. It makes most of what you know about minecraft go out the window.
There seem to be a lot of technical questions on this forum, particularly in regards to installing it. The developer's page is the best place to find instructions http://www.terrafirm...t.com/download/ . I highly recommend WinZip for editing minecraft.jar, since I've had trouble with 7Zip.
Barring that, I think this mod is absolute GOLD! Check out the forums on the chisel creations http://terrafirmacra...isel-creations/ and see what some really creative folks are coming up with.
Yes, there's a big learning curve here, and it's not for those with short attention spans. But this mod got me back into minecraft, and I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to vanilla.

Unless specified on the changelog http://www.terrafirmacraft.com/change-log/ I just drop the new update into minecraft.jar along with the TFC_resources and delete the 'config' folder in the .minecraft directory.
To be honest I feel that seasons last way too long for a game like minecraft. Waiting for harvest season takes so long, you really do have to play on your world for ages before you can do anything with fruit trees. By the time the correct season comes there really is no reason to get fruit from fruit trees.
Each month should have 10-15 days, that way you still have plenty of time to farm all you want in the right season/month, and you don't have to wait extremely long to get collecting either.
Also, when you sleep nothing gets effected still. You can be waiting for char coal, or crops to grow. But nothing will get effected while you sleep, your hunger doesnt even get lower in that time either, doesn't really feel very realistic.

Fruit trees are still in development. So they will change with time, agriculture and butchering too, so the wheat farms and hunting won't be such as profitable as it is now, like in vanilla MC

Also, would I be able to build four bloomeries this close together? I think having them there and the forge on top would look boss as hell.

Lower-case os are Bloomery tops, 0 is the Forge.
When using an axe on the fruit tree branches (not the leaves nor the trunc) in the glooming month(leaves with flowers) you will have what I believe is a 60%-75% chance of getting a sapling for that tree. They(the saplings) all look the same for now
I believe you can build your bloomeries like that. If you already built one, knowing how to, then try your layout in Creative, from what I understand on that, the bloomery blocks will be accessed from the sides. Take a screenshot of it and post it here!

Blame Notch for that
i don't know if its compatable with TFC, but get the somnia mod.
just get a stack of steak or so: then go to sleep for eternety and wait for everything to grow
XD
I am reading the changelog, and i feel that this mod is coming along nicely... very nicely indeed.
One mod I'd really like to see incorporated in this is Fishing++. With the animal mating being tweaked, and lack of potion brewing, this would be a nice feature. I suppose this mod is partially compatible now, though, maybe it should be made to be a little more in line with the realism feel.
Gotta pick fruit; if you just went in slashing about you would have fruit parts.
The scythe will have cool use I am sure once wheat has been reworked. Having to till large areas with a metal plow hooked to an ox would be cool too. Then you could build wagons for ox, and wheels would require barrel making; and barrels plus wheat n hops then needs a fermentation mechanic. Ah so much good stuff.
this mod seems realitivily popular but it doesnt seem as populer as it should be. weird
Probably because it overhauls everything in MC. Not to mention it's in beta and practically doesn't have any support for the famous texture packs. You almost can't use any other mods because chances are, this mod alters what other mods touches. In my case, I uninstalled this mod because it crashed my game with Sonic-ether's GLSL shaders and I couldn't stand the textures of this mod either.
I wish the features of this mod were modular and more compatible with other mods.
@Vigonator
Looks like you forgot to place TFC_resources in the jar as well as TFC_core. It is easy to overlook.

Good job, Bioxx. +11 internets to you, sir!

Not glich, intended. Don't let your things in the fire unattended!

Platinum rare, or ore rare?

Still an excellent mod, tho.

Edit: Meaning Unplayable legitemately. The game runs, but has countless snags, glitches, and quirks that deny surviving.
