Ahah! Elensaar on the BTB thread over at the BTW forums has it correct!
I believe that whatever program you're using to copy files to minecraft.jar is not recursively copying files within folders.
I installed everything with 7zip. It worked. Then I tried simulating what would happen if 7zip did not copy recursively; I deleted the "forge" folder from minecraft.jar and copied over BTB's forge folder again.
I got your exact error.
What does this mean? It means that when you install BTB with whatever program you're using, the files that BTW put in the "forge" folder are getting deleted in the process.
So here are your solutions:
1. Use 7zip. That's what I use, and it copies correctly.
2. You can still use whatever you're using, but you need to do an extra step:
When installing BTB, don't include the "forge" folder when copying all the files over. Instead, copy everything BUT the "forge" folder, then go inside the forge folder, and copy the files from there into the forge folder in minecraft.jar.
Arguing that it is somehow a hindrance to the mod is just plain short-sighted. I also think "Happy Fun Time" would be an awesome mod title, so we're obviously coming at this from very different angles.
Your title change got a LOL out of me, so that made the whole discussion worthwhile.
The non-descriptive name thing was really just an afterthought to my main point, which was that the "then" instead of "than" comes across as an error more so than anything clever. As a first time viewer of the mod title, my initial thought was "that guy screwed up the title of his mod," not "how clever" or "oh, I see what this mod is!" Even after looking over some of the posts in here stating that the name was as intended and not an error, I still didn't really understand why. Based on the several other posts in this topic that also expressed confusion or tried to point out a grammatical error, I made the suggestion that it might not have been the best choice of name. Take that however you want.
Whether a cute/witty versus a dry but informative mod name is better for mod "marketing" is probably a separate discussion. Personally, I'm more likely to click on a mod that tells me up front what it does. I didn't click on Better Than Wolves because the name gave me no idea what it did (and yes, names like "RedPower" tell me at least something. I am intelligent enough to surmise that it deals with redstone, given the context). The only reason I know anything about BTW at all is because it was featured with other mods in a YouTube video. You're correct that at this point it does so many things that it would be difficult to name in a descriptive way, but perhaps that means it should be broken up into several smaller mods. Another reason I don't download mods is when they try to do too many things in one package, meaning if I use that mod I'm almost certain to be stuck with things I don't like as well as what I do.

Just like the name, it may take people awhile to realize just what a sarcastic ******* I am and how much of what I do is tongue in cheek
Glad you got a laugh out of it

The thing is that it is very hard to produce any kind of cohesive experience when you go that route. Not knowing which blocks/items are available from your own mods to interrelate to each other can both be a hindrance from a design perspective, and also eats away at coding time given the constant checks you have to perform to see if particular modules are installed.
Also, maintaining individual download packages like that is also a huge time-sync for a developer.
Keep in mind that I am an individual working alone on what has become a relatively massive project in BTW. Going the above route would inevitably result in me being able to produce less actual content, so I made a choice very early on to stick to one download package and one only for the sake of my own productivity (and sanity...the above kind of work is mind-numbingly dull).
It's one of the advantages of something like BTB actually, in that we now have a platform in which we can be *certain* that features from both mods are available, and design/code specifically for that circumstance. IMO, it's going to result in a far more cohesive experience with time than anything that would have been possible if the two mods were compatible but just installed separately.
The name actually comes from when me and my buddy first started playing Quake 2 online. We had an intoxicated conversation about "what is the most humiliating name to be fragged by?" and FlowerChild was born
The installation link doesn't cover how to install the mods on a mac. :sad.gif:
The one main thing to be careful about is that the built-in achiever replaces folders, not merges them.
When you install BTB, drag and drop everything but the forge folder into the minecraft jar, then open the forge folder in the BTB zip and in the jar and combine the two that way.

My .jar does not contain a forge folder. Was I supposed to download something else?
WAIT A SECOND 6 diamonds to get 4 pipes - I don't think so
Lol! Why not exactly? The diamond pipes are one of the most advanced in BC, they're extremely powerful, generally not used in large numbers, and by the time you reach that point in the tech tree, you most likely have a quarry and don't exactly have diamond supply problems.
A lot of thought went into the recipes man. If you disagree with them, at least *try* to state a rational reason as to why that's the case. At best this just sounds like a knee-jerk response based on being used to the regular BC recipes.
1.5 diamonds for a multi-purpose filter is not much by a long shot especially considering a plain old pick takes 3.
I had asked it previously but no one had a clear answer so I tested it out myself.
This works in every way you would expect with additional (teleport) pipes:
and Logistics pipes:
That's excellent news man! Thanks for testing that out!

I tested the latter pulling out of all BTW inventories (cauldron, crucible, hopper, Block Dispenser, and even the VASE!) and it worked fine.
Well, there's one known issue with pipes sucking the filter out of Hoppers, but I'll resolve that shortly

I can't wait to play with all this. I think logistics/teleport pipes might need to become more expensive to match the new difficultly of BTB.
If the authors want to support BTB recipes, feel free to put them in touch with me here. It should be fairly easy to set something up to detect BTB installation and modify the recipes accordingly based on that.
Why do you do everything in your power to make only a very select group of people happy? You dropped Forge. What's next, dropping Modloader and making it incompatible with that too? Just think about what you did with forge. Eloraam is "copying" all of her companions, and they aren't having hissy-fits about it! In fact, they find it good that there is more than one mod that can do the same thing as each other. Just think about all of the insanely epic factories that could be made with BTW, Buildcraft, Industrialcraft, and Redpower working side by side. You say that what MagusUnion says is just because he was banned, and it may be so, but it's true, you DO have an overinflated ego.

Did you remember to install Better Than Wolves?
Note that, unlike the Buildcraft mods, you have to install BTW by copying into the minecraft.jar (not the mods folder).
Edit: Oh, I see others have had this exact same error without any resolution. Perhaps the issue isn't that simple...
And "Happy Fun Time" would be a perfect mod title for a Dwarf Fortress mod.

Nice catch man. I'll be sure to take note of this for future tech support.

No.
No, did you read the thread at all?
