guys you realize to make a mod into a new version of minecraft isn't exactly easy. and considering how GINORMOUS this mod is it could take time . Don't rush the mod creators when they get it done it'll be done. Also as far as I'm aware, Minecraft will be in 1.5 soon correct? So what would be the point of making it compatible with 1.4.7 when you might as well wait for 1.5.
This is correct, and with all the new features that have arrived lately, especially the virtual server in ssp, has made it very hard to find ways to mod in specific things. I'm actually looking forward to 1.5, as far as I'm aware they'll add some mod support in that version?
I have no plans continuing this mod, but I do have a plan making a new mod. It'll be more focused on natural phenomenons, not just disasters. Disasters will be included though!
I think for the remake volcanoes can only form on "Hotspots" like in real life. and if you go near bedrock where a hotspot is and there is a vent going towards the surface with a magma chamber at the bottom. And at the top of the vent is just ground until it finally erupts (if possible the lava should go up vent when going to erupt) Maybe there can be a block that sends a redstone signal that you can connect to the side of the vent and when lava goes by it it sends the signal to perhaps an alarm that goes off?
I look forward to the new mod. From the descriptions of it I've managed to find, it seems like it will be better than this tenfold.
I can't help but wonder though: What kind of features can we expect for it?

A little list:
Disasters (This list is probably going to be expanded):
Volcanoes
Earthquakes
Tsunamis(Hopefully I'll get this thing working )
Meteorites
Sinkholes
Nature:
Eroding water (Possibly, if I can get around making a new water block)
Tectonic plates (They won't move the land, but will be that main causes for disasters.)
I might also add some other fun things like volcano dungeons, some new items and blocks.
No. I don't need to create a tornado disaster as long as Coros updates it.
This time I'm focusing on creating a more detailed disaster set. The volcano was really the only detailed disaster in the previous version, but now I want every disaster to have as much detail as I can put into them, which means I must do a lot more thinking than I did when creating the previous disasters. This is the main reason why I can't give any ETA and is another reason I won't add tornadoes(because it means more work when I don't need to).
I know a lot about volcanoes, and I can help you with the new mod, what you need for the volcano is have 4 new volcanoes, the composite, the shield, the cinder cone, and the super volcano. also you need the mod maker of tornado mod help with the pyroclastic flows and eruptions. plus add volcanic island that grow out of the ocean. heres a video of volcanic eruptions that come out of composite volcanoes: .the composite volcanoes have tall volcanic cones that have eruptions that are quiet, loud, big or small, the super volcanoes are volcanic craters full of wild life and I believe these should be 200 blocks wide and the make the biggest, most powerful and deadly eruptions there is, the shield volcanoes are super flat volcanic cones and has constant lava flows, and cinder cones are small, steep volcanoes that shoot rocks and debrie in to the air. I hope this helps.
The reason why this mod take forever, is because I'm trying too hard to make it realistic. I don't really know if it's my way to do it. I want to make a real earthquake, but some shaking, falling blocks and a cracked ground is really hard to code, and especially when you don't play Minecraft anymore(sry). I don't really have that same motivation as before, but I feel like it's a thing I need to do. I've finished the Volcano ages ago, and it looks quite good, but I've not really finished many other disasters, and sometimes I wonder how I'm going to approach to create a more realistic disaster. Take the sinkhole as an example: In the older versions, it's a simple and gigantic hole created by removing the block on top and continue doing this until you reach a specific time period. In reality it's water eroding the ground under an area and after a while the pressure from the ceiling of the eroded room is too much for the ceiling to handle and the ceiling simply falls into the room. Imagine this in Minecraft and that every second the entire visible world is being scanned for such pressures and after that the sinking needs to be executes in a WAY more complicate way than in the older versions. Making the volcano was easy, because I had a very clear sense of how to approach it, and I have much more experience making volcanoes than other disasters.
And I have to apologize for being lazy too. I really want to make this mod, but it's just stomping me into the ground whenever I open eclipse.
So my question is: Should I continue trying to make a realism mod, or go back to more destructive and not exactly real things?

Go back to unrealism. It's a lot more fun, and workable. Also, it's an easier fit with the other mods out there.

I'm glad people still look out for the new version, and I got a lot more response than I expected from one day. It seems from the comments people want it to be more unrealistic, while the population using the polls want a more realistic mod. Maybe I should try approaching things with a bit of realism and a bit of pure destruction?
The main point of this mod when I created it was to make the world more dynamic. I recall seeing a post about how "static" the dynamic world of vanilla Minecraft was(and still is I presume) and decided to create a volcano which sucked up everything(initially I wanted it to create the volcano in one big swoop, but then I encountered the problematic lag) and gracefully placed every block at it's right position. I then met the "random" and decided every volcano can't be the same, which is why you might have encountered huge obisidan pillars from some volcanoes in the early days. Then I recognized I could make so much more and then reworked everything. I added earthquakes, sinkholes and meteorites and possibly a few more disasters. I wanted all the disasters to make a big impact on the environment, which is why some of them are unrealistic(earthquake). I also managed to push in some SMP support along the way.
I think I'll let the poll run on for a couple of days and decide from there, feel free to comment too.
Just putting the news out here for those who don't watch my twitter: I'm soon going to release a snapshot of the Volcano, the first disaster to visit Minecraftia and wreck worlds again since 1.4.2 If you want the news as I am developing, you really should check out my Twitter in the OP
I plan on making some new types of meteorites, and improving them drastically too(these news are fresh, live from The Minecraftforum!) and I hope to, in some way, improve on the way the earthquake works when I'm creating those too. I also plan to add the sinkholes too, I think most people REALLY liked them, maybe I'mm add some new features for it, it seems like the best way to add some dungeons or things like that And maybe the Terrainmonster will come back too, they've been dead for far too long even though most people didn't know how to kill them.
But, once again you should check out my Twitter feed, so I can get some feedback from you guys when I'm asking questions or maybe you guys have some questions you want answered?

I hope to be able to do it once the modding API comes out.
I'm remaking it! It will take some time before I'm done though, but I think you'll get a much better experience in the next version!
Like I have stated in the OP, you should go check by my twitter regularly, or #MCNaturecraft, to give me feedback on updates I'll post!
