Mining Overhaul changes the way you mine in Minecraft, by making stone and some of the ores drop nuggets, rocks, and bits to be crafted into ingots, items, and blocks, and adding a new ore called Experite, dropping experience points when it is mined, this new ore also has the same texture as stone. With Experite added, you can now earn experience for mining!
Why do stone and some of the ores drop nuggets, rocks, and bits? To give a twist to mining. Instead of one ore dropping one block, some of the ores (Iron, Gold, and Diamond) drop a random amount of nuggets, rocks, and bits (ranging from 6 to 12) to make mining more fun and realistic. The rocks, bits, and nuggets will fill up your inventory much faster, giving you a great reason to use minecarts with storage chests in your mines!

This is a great idea and was going to ask a favour...
can you make a mod about Deathworms! I have had this idea
in my head soo long hat it is driving me nuts!
and unfortunatly i am HORRIBLE at mods.
so if you could and have the spare time make this mod..
its a good idea but i think you should have added some newer ores, Magnesium, copper, etc. i can only think of them 2 but there are many more. and to make them items useful you can make tools and other cool things, shock towers so that it would lessen the chances of you getting hit with lightning.

Thanks for your suggestions. The point of this mod was to change the way you mine in minecraft, we didn't want to fill this mod up with a bunch of useless ores and tools that do the same thing all the other ores and tools do. We aren't saying we won't add any new ores, and if we did, they most likely won't be for tools, but they will be more unique ores instead.
Again thanks for your suggestions, we appreciate it.

I would probably install this mod right now if not for one thing, you need to redistribute the ores so that they a a LOT more common so that you actually have a chance of getting some ore, and it take out the fun of cave exploring, I see it having a lot of potential, but overall right now, I think it needs a lot of work.

The reason for the Experite ore, is because your going to have a hard time finding the original ores while mining, so you get experience for your hard work. We most likely won't change the original ore generation.

Well, I do disagree with you because I doubt people will take expieriecne over ores like diamond and iron. If you are actually trying to make it as realistic as possible, you should make HUGE veins of ores that are extremely uncommon, and rather than the original texture, they would be the same as stone, but tinged, you would just have to find a way to balance diamond :/
i felt the ore looking the same thing WAS TOTAL BS but other than that making storage carts have more use it better so you actually might fill up like 1 or 2 on a mining session sadly it edits far to many class files for what it adds and cannot be used with many different mods

i felt that your post was total BS. you can clearly see that the mod is for hardcore miners. we coded it the way we wanted to, not to have a debate on how the game should be played. please tell me what this mod is incompatible with? because the class files were modified but not changed. as for the ores having the same texture as stone, thats one of the main points of the mod, sorry that this isn't the mod for you.
Nice. Maybe try adding some hints to what blocks are ores, like one little pixel.
We were thinking of that, but a player of minecraft knows that if you hit stone with a wooden pickaxe and it takes a lot longer time to mine, you know that your using the wrong tool. We didn't change any ore distribution and ore mining resistance. The whole object of Mining Overhaul was to completely change the way a player mines. thank you for your input.
As it has already been said I will say it again. Having the ALL of the ore have the same texture as stone is complete BS.
In my opinion. I have looked throughout the comments and have read the concern over the same matter. I suggest you to add a tinge or some other way of defining the ore when you actually get close to it. I like the idea that you you cannot immediately see where each ore is what. But if you can't see what you're mining, mining has no use. I am not dl'ing this mod in fear of my pickaxes. Lets say you were mining out a 4 by 4 square down to bedrock, think of how that would work? If I had a stone pickaxe, how would I know if I was mining gold or diamond? Then I would just waste a whole load of resources. You have not fully explained the matter of drops either...

read our introduction, download and try the mod before being opinionated about it, and we have in fact fully explained the matter of drops. also the mining resistance has not been changed, so i dont know about you, but i would know that if it was taking an extra long time to mine that stone, that a greater pickaxe would be needed. and thats the fun part, its adding a need for skill to mine. you do not understand that all of the ores having the same texture as stone is what gives the mod its twist and challenge.
This is an interesting sounding mod, but too hardcore for myself. I've mined down to bedrock, and explored miles of underground tunnels and haven't come across a single diamond yet.
I do like the idea that the ores look like regular stone. But I also agree with the above comments that there should be some way to tell its an ore. My suggestion is that when you hit it with the pickaxe, it produces a different sound or pitch then a regular stone.

Thanks! I appreciate your suggestion, though, what we really want in this mod is the ability to add one skill to mining, and that's called mining resistance. Just think, your mining in a mineshaft with a stone pickaxe, and you hit some gold, (obviously not knowing its gold) and you suddenly realize its taking a little bit longer to mine than stone would. So you think "I have to try to mine this out with a greater pickaxe" so you use an iron pickaxe and mine out the gold. The only way you were able to tell the difference between the gold ore with stone is the mining resistance, how fast it is being mined. Remember, you really gotta pay attention to what you mine!
