the mods you need for Thaumcraft, (modloader/forge) ModloaderMP, Backpack, Compressed Blocks, NEI, NEI Thaumcraft Plugin, CodeChickenCore, and Optifine Smooth (still worked before this was installed) what mods do you have installs? do the Vis Crystals look 3D? if they dont and you get it working they look awesome in 3D!
I'm using a LOT more mods then you, which is why you don't have problems. I use:
Forestry
Redpower2
IndustrialCraft2
RailCraft
ThaumCraft2
BuildCraft
DoggyTalents
Laser Mod
Ropes+
EnderStorage
LogisticsPipes
ABO
MoCreatures
More Pistons
IronChests
CompactSolars
Advanced Machines
That's about it, there's a few more I can't remember, but those are the main ones.

aah, then it's probably a conflict. well, i guess you cant use 3D items then. maybe you should open up a new superflat world and test it by installing mods 1 by 1. and see which one makes them 2D.

I already read about these issues on the 3D Items mod thread and it has to do with the mod not supporting IDs higher then vanilla.
to clarify will vis crystals form and silver trees and all that good stuff?
Only in new chunks. Everything you've already explored will have no obelisks, crystals, or new trees. It might have tainted patches, but someone would have to confirm that for me, I'm not sure.

Aelux ive read a few of your post awhile back. I dont remember much but Your trying to install a mod in a minecraft folder which youve been using already arent you? Forge generates all Mod IDs for you when you first run MC. You cannot go (example a week later) later and try and install a mod which uses several IDs. Theres a high chance of ID conflicts.
Currently using the 1.2.3 version of this mod due to it being the version supported by the Yogbox. After playing around with it for awhile I've come to notice that the Vis Conduits that are placed in the world have what appears to be visually glitchy bottoms (Pics for reference) It's nauseating to look at as they are constantly swapping, think bright purple strobe lights...I've spent about an hour fiddling with graphics settings and nothing is seeming to help.
Has this happened to anyone before? Is there an easy fix? Is it a mod conflict? (Seems really unlikely since it's straight for Yogbox) Any kind of help or insight would be appreciated.
I don't have yet: Crystalline Bell, Brain-In-A-Jar, Occultic Enchanter and Eldritch Keystone: Tlhutlh.
I gave up after researching about 4 stacks of brains to get BIAJ, that's why I'm a bit confused that I can't get that theory.
Anyway thanks for tips, I'll try to do as you said, hopefully with luck
Get Equivalent Exchange. I've got two solar replicator flowers pumping out diamonds at this point, and I can of course also replicate bookshelves. Research either those, or diamond blocks. Research for me has been going fairly smoothly at this point, but I still don't have the Vis Purifier. Torturous level theories are exactly that.
Unheard Scorpio, if my memory doesn't fail me, there was some glitchiness to vis conduits back then, but no one's going to worry about fixes for a version that old. Azanor fixed it in updates.
Frankly, if Yogbox is that far behind, why would anyone use it? It's really not very hard to install things yourself, and you get the latest versions of everything. You're missing out on some really great stuff using that old version.
Whole reason being I downloaded the Technic .exe to join a Tekkit server, Yogbox was one of the preset modpacks. I've gotten pretty into it and don't want to lose what I've gotten so far. I'm in the process of getting everything working, but it's kinda slow. So yeah. Good to know it's fixed, guess I'ma have to start compiling the mods to run in a normal client.
