I tried searching the thread, but without actually reading every post I didn't see anyone bring this up.
Do Crucibles gather ambient vis from the air or something? Or are there just random spots with high vis radiation? I'm new to Thaumcraft (ended up with it via TechnicPack), and one of the crucibles I placed seems to just randomly gather up vis from nothing. Actually, to be more specific, there is a single spot, plus each adjacent space (not including diagonals), that any crucible placed there spontaneously generates vis at a low rate (maybe 1 Vis / 5 secs). I gather there are things you can do with obelisks - but there isnt one nearby. There MIGHT have been at one point - I blew up several trying to get pieces - be there isnt one now. Dunno if that helps or not. There are no other machines nearby, but I did test briefly putting an infuser next to said crucibles, and powered an entire enchant without ever tossing anything into the crucible.
So I'm just wondering whats going on, since its, erm, well rather noisy. It constantly makes the sound as if something had been dropped into the crucible.

That is really strange. It is only supposed to gather vis from items (and I just checked the code), and the noise should only play when an item is being converted. Does it do that even when you pickup and replace the crucible?
I got a bug to report. At least as far as I understand, void symbols not placed on obsidian should only work as an exit. But for me, this only works for the player, not for items. Did I understand something wrong? Because currently I use a build craft quarry / diamond pipe to drop all the valuable stuff into an ingoing portal, which only needs an exit point. If that exit is just a symbol, it doesn't work for items. If I instead place it on an obsidian arch, it works just fine. Same conditions apply, even the positioning is exactly the same.
Otherwise great mod, I really enjoy it!
I have found several large bugs with void symbols that I've fixed. I will release a new version with the fixes soonish.
However "exit only" void symbols still require vis to operate and the transportation isn't instant - after each teleport there is a small cooldown period. The code for player and items are exactly the same, so if it teleports you and not items something else might be going on.
EDIT: Actually, how do you have your symbol placed? Vertically or horizontally?
Is it really free? I mean do you get enough excess vis from the process to duplicate glowstone and create the crystallized vis that you use up with the infusion molds and still have excess vis left over? Because if not it's not really free at all but merely a way to (maybe) increase the amount of vis that you get from each glowstone you harvest manually.
EDIT: I believe the nitor system was put in place before infusion molds became consumable. Was the vis returned rebalanced with this in mind?
Yeah, after changing how infusion molds work I checked the math again and there is still a definite gain.
Its not a huge gain (it never was), but if properly setup and with an ample supply of glowstone it gains vis much faster than you could from condensers (unless you have loads of condensers that is...)
Still, my mod is not about getting something for nothing. I'll leave that to EE.
is this used for the new buildcraft api that spacetoad revised? on the main page of www.mod-buildcraft.com he says something about all mods need to use teh new api for buildcraft

ok this is really odd sugar cane doesn't grow anymore
but this is the odd part
iron symbols are still picking it up and putting it in a chest though i can not see this happening unless im at the very edge of the normal view distance
Iron symbols need to be powered to be able to suck items into chests. Otherwise they just move slowly to them.
On the portal thing, a layout like this:
(mossy being any block)
Also seems to work for me. You don't need the complete ring, just a porticullis. Be sure to provide lots of energy to it with a nearby node though.

Also.. grub husks? :laugh.gif:
Really?
Like a nether portal.
Ahh.
Think of it like that

Very strange. It work's fine in my test worlds. This almost sounds like a graphical issue.
Man! No fanfare on the update? Come on man your mod is totally awesome! Orichalcum seems like a really good idea and I like how you didn't make it straight up better than diamond. Although it seems like it should harvest a little faster than iron considering how fast gold harvests but that might make it too good. Maybe put it between iron and diamond both in durability and speed but with the enchantability of gold? :smile.gif:

This release was basically just for bugfixes. The new node and metal was sort of just thrown in since I had it half done. The new armor and tools isn't really the point of orichalcum, but they were quick to add. The real use for the metal will start coming in future updates.
There is a rare mythical button called "Search" that likes to answer questions; however, due to its nature, it often blends in with its surroundings so as to remain hidden.
I believe I found a bug/incompatibility. If you use Somnia, the trees don't spawn.
I use Somnia myself and they spawn for me. However, I don't actually sleep that often so maybe there is something in Somnia that prevents the trees from spawning while you sleep.
Not sure if this is a bug or a quirk, but the axial pull of the arcane bore is too weak when it is digging an horizontal tunnel. If there's a hole below it's pull field the items that are being dragged get stuck in it.
So I'm curious what the intention is for people getting started on this mod. Because to do much of anything you really need crystallized vis. But the only way I see of getting that (without a singularity which itself requires crystals to get) is by overflowing a cauldron which is hard to do unless you're throwing a lot of very valuable items into it. Is this intended? Or will there be more straightforward less random ways of getting crystals in the future that don't require crystals to start with?

Thanks for the heads up, I'll go have a look.
Mediafire says that the file is not present. :sad.gif:
Works fine for me. Anyone else haveing thing issue?

Must have been a mediafire SNAFU. It works now. Thanks!
