Since my last post went to describing what those thingies that you needed for the node was, I decided your mod could use some more screenshots. So I made some screenshots.
Conduit recipe:
Node recipe:
Symbol recipe:
Rune recipe:
Glimmering Alumentum:
Glowing Alumentum:
Incandescent Alumentum:
Glimmering Nitor:
Glowing Nitor:
Incandescent Nitor:
Unstable Thaumic Singularity
Stabilized Thaumic Singularity
Oh, and I also did some research on the Alumentum, and its almost twice as powerful for each "evolution":
Coal smelts 8 items, Glimmering Alumentum smelts 15, Glowing Alumentum smelts 30, and Incandescent Alumentum smelts 60. Which means that for one whole stack of items to smelt, you need simply one Incandescent Alumentum and three wood.
Thanks :smile.gif: I got a bit busy today, but I was planning on making new recipe images at some point - this save me some time.
I've spent a few hours trying everything I can think of to disassemble a Thaumic Obelisk. I honestly have to ask... Is it even possible? I've tried everything I can think of, including throwing snowballs at it and yelling obscenities.
Yes it is possible. The first clue is that it needs to be dissasembled in a specific order, and the second is that you need something to dissasemble it. Something magical... and not neccesarily from my mod.
This may quite possibly be the best modelling and textures for a mod I have ever seen since the Aether! I don't know when I will use this but I will eventually! Hey, when I get my gaming computer, I could make a nice spotlight if I can figure out all the pipe systems etc. :biggrin.gif:
That is the conduits, as shown in the first reciepe. They are made by four glass panes and one redstone, then you get eight conduits, which can make two nodes when combined with gold ingots.
Also, What was the reciepe for the item template? I noticed the sprite of the detector changed after I upgraded, but now I cant find out how to make another one.
Arcane Tinkering Tools
They replaced the old Item template - basically just cosmetic changes. I changed the recipe since a bucket + crystal thaum just seemed... lame. I just forgot to fix the detector recipe in the OP.
Azanor, can I send you a PM with an idea I have about the obelisk? I don't want to just shout it here on the mod page. If I'm right or wrong, it could spoil a lot of fun.

Amazing mod, by the way. It's the first magical mod to actually make me think and experiment. All the others lay it out to you step-by-step how to do things. I love the chaotic nature of this mod. I hope to see it go even further!

Many mod-makers and players seem to forget that Minecraft is a game above all else. While it is fun to simply build stuff in creative mode or with TMI, there is very little challenge. I like a challenge and hopefully the people that like my mod does as well.
Quite an interesting mod. Belongs right along the other great forge mods (BC,IC(2),EE) That is a compliment. Great job. Singularities are like TNT except awesome
Question though. How rare do Obelisks generate? (I apologize for my horrible grammar)

Good question. In one of my games, I found two within the same biome.
Also, to the mod creator, absolutely adore the mod, I second this guy's opinion, but I have one question; do the mossy and dirt symbols actually do anything? 'cause I'm screwing around in Creative, and I'm not getting anything. Also, what's going on with creative mode? I don't want to install TMI because I'm afraid I'll viciously cheat with it, and not everything is showing up. I mean, everything can still be crafted, it's just harder.
Also, How do you craft the Thaumic Detector (the wand that makes an ear-bleeding noise when you're next to an obelisk)
Oh, and how exactly do Obelisks and Thaumic Collectors (with the symbol and the spinning Thaum crystal ) work exactly? Like, if I wanted to make an array to capture the maximum amount of Thaum from an obelisk, how would I do that?

You can make a Thaumic Detecter by infusing a Compass to a set of Arcane Tinkering Tools.
Tinkering Tools are made using a piece of Crystallized Thaum and a stone pick, axe, hoe and shovel.
As for the Obelisks and Collectors, I've just simply placed them in a two rows, five collectors in each, in front of my Obelisk. It seems to collect just fine. Now, if I can find a way to move the other four Obelisks I've found...

Really? Huh, it works.
Oh also, suggestions; a symbol that spawns mobs at a slow pace (or faster, but with a LOT of thaum consumption) and a symbol that makes baby animals inside the area grow up faster, and (when supplied with thaum) cause adults to breed on their own.
Also, how come you can't melt Cobblestone down? I mean, I get not being able to melt tools just because - well, what if you hit Q at the wrong time and your sword goes down the drain? - but cobblestone? I have to smelt it into smooth stone first, which is kinda annoying

I like some of those suggestions for symbols. The baby one especially.
I disabled smelting cobble for a reason: It is just too easy to come by, either through mining or through cobblestone generators. It is still quite possible to get automated systems going that supply near-infinite thaum, but you need to work at it. Placing some lava and water next to each other is just too simple.

Their are fairly rare, but as with all random things their spawning is sometimes a bit clumpy. In one test world I couldn't find one at all, while the next had 3 withing visual range of each other.

The symbols both work fine, but if placed flat on the ground facing upwards the dirt or crops might not be in their effective area. Try placing them on a wall facing towards your target area, facing downwards, or placing them below the area facing upwards.
The creative mode thing is a bit annoying, but as far as I know there isn't a way around that with the way I'm using block-id's.

This seems like an incredibly interesting mod. However, it seems to crash my Minecraft and in the crash report it lists the mod as "thaumcraft 1.8.1". Yes, I have installed modloader, modloadermp and minecraft forge, yet it still crashes.

The mod is meant for MC 1.0.0. I just forgot the modify the text, but I've already done it for the new version.
Just a question, but have you ever pondered adding handheld magic? I'm not that familiar with Terry Pratchett, but it would be cool if you could equip the symbols and use them manually (like, using a mossy symbol like bonemeal and a blaze symbol like a flamethrower)
I will add more handheld magical items into my mod. In fact, I'm working on a couple of doozies right now. :cool.gif:
For now however the symbols will stay as they are.
