The new stuff looks great, and I'm looking forward to seeing what balance tweaks you put out. I have yet to see taint in my 1.2.5 world since I haven't really left my main chunk, but I'll try to report on how it goes in terms of spreading when I find some.
I think I got all the petrified trees (and replaced roughly 90% of them) with that major petrified swath... I didn't take as many pics as I intended, but I have two double chests full of stacks of petrified wood and I left a ton behind on the ground after chopping, probably a 300-400 at the least. So yeah, that's how big my petrified area was!
If I find another swath like that one, I'm gonna cry. I'm actually looking forward to finding taint instead of petrified wood, that's how sick I am of it!
For all you other players who kept your 1.2.3 worlds and are cleaning up the petrified areas too... fist pound!
This, unfortunately. I thought it was an intended feature and that was my original plan. But now, without being able to dupe, no Silverwood saplings in the works that we know of, and my insistence on only harvesting Silverwood log branches and not the tree itself, totems of dawn will be scare for me so I'm curious what other means are available.
On the bright side, Operation Save-The-Forest is now in effect. Hoping to be done today and pics are forthcoming!
I know this is an old comment but have you considered simply relocating/restructuring the trees? I made quaint bushes around my house in my Direwolf Let's Play world. I really love how they came out in fact and they retain pretty much all the effects, plus look lovely sparkling outside my windows. :3c
I find most of mine in the taiga, but I honestly don't know if that's significant or just my luck. I've only explored within map-range of my spawn and found just over a stack of silverwood logs though, seen them in nearly every biome, so it doesn't seem to be too awfully rare. I'm actually running low on shimmerleaf more than I am silverwood.
I shall have to go and find a tiaga then. Hopefully it won't take too long.
Ooooh, I totally forgot about that - I wanted to report that a while back. When a crystal (or the base block it's attached to) is broken, it just drops the crystals and the quarry doesn't pick them up, so no.
why? WHY did you have to nerf the pick even MOAR?!?!?! it was so great for making mines... for some reason the Arcane Bore likes to run into lava and the lava eats my diamonds...
EDIT: well i sorta like that smelting idea... but you'd have to carry it everywhere and it would only be for iron and gold. makes sense though because you're using Fiery Crystals. i havent checked the new update yet but are we ever going to see the origins of the Eldrich People?

i suggested that azanor should add a soulcage and souls on a jar wich could be used in crusibles.
but azanor came up with some better ideas that actually turned out to be even better than what i suggested.
heres a small suggestion: turn the bow into a repeater and call it repeater of bones.
me and my friend made a reallife repeater last weekend and it shoots very fast like the ingame bow of bones.

Yeah, but I knew Azanor was going to retweak taint again, and also plans to re-incorporate his high/low vis areas producing forests/deserts and I didn't want to move any trees completely in order to maintain the strength of those areas. I usually have little problem getting leaves, I'm just selective with logs and once I branch out more and more, I'll find more and more silverwood trees and eventually getting 2-3 branches (hopefully!) per tree will be enough.
I have thought about downsizing the trees to half their size and putting leaves back on them and taking the other half. Dunno, they just seem so... proper as the are, Azanor did a great job making this humble gamer feel like those trees are special and sacred!

also, azanor, another bug, this time involving the seeing symbols: they don't cause a block update when they power/unpower, so unless an adjacent block updates, any redstone is stuck in the state the symbol was in when it was placed
edit: huh... ok, I'm going to elaborate a bit:
on a seeing symbol facing sideways, placing redstone on the block it's attached to leads to the problem I described, however, placing redstone adjacent to the symbol will work fine. I guess the symbol is updating itself, but not the block it's powering
Ok fiddled with the seeing symbol and hotfixed it again.
Ah yea, that must be it haha.
Also, I just want to mention that any artifacts, are not compatible with Risu's Shelves mod. I'm not sure if this is planned or mentioned before, just thought I'd give a heads up

That was a quick and easy fix so I hotfixed it - just redownload
