I've used this mod all afternoon but I'm having a problem with custom skins.
I have all the skins I need in the folder inside .minecraft/customnpcs... and I can access them. When I try to use them, only 3 of them actually work. The rest display a black overlay with pink arms. I'd really like to sort this, as it's the second thing that's stopping me from finishing my project!
I changed one of them from 1.8 -> 1.7 but that didn't work still, and I did make sure the model is NPC 64x32. It's a specific few, but I can't figure out why. Some work, but the converter didn't help. Is there anything else that might work?
I noticed that it's the skins as exactly the same skins don't display on a different world. The world is fine.
I updated to the January Beta which was the latest one I found, but all that did was remove my furniture and decorations. This isn't too bad, but the skins don't work. They're all 1.8+ style 64x64 skins.
I figured it out though! I copied the names of the successful ones, and the names all had no capital letters! When I renamed some individual files in lower case, they displayed! Did the new version remove furniture? If it's just the files, I'll go back to the furniture version! Thanks for the advice anyway!
I tried it, but the actual problem was capital letters! If they have capitals, they don't work! Do you know how to stop them turning? I turned living animation off, but it didn't work.
I understand that you are a very busy man, but I have two issues with the mod, one slightly gamebreaking, the other a mere annoyance. Will also update the Curse website with them. I'm making a personal MLP-inspired modpack, both issues tested and persist in both an almost fully vanilla environment(liteloader+minelp+JEI+customNPCs) and a fully modded setup, both 1.10.2, latest forge. I also tested this on 1.11.2, latest forge. Both issues persist.
Firstly, whenever I try to change the player model to the "Villager", "Zombie" or "ZombiePig" models with MineLP loaded(which changes the models of said mobs), I CTD,with the following log: Strangely, I don't CTD when I try to switch the model to the "Skeleton" model. Double strangely, I managed to avoid the issue somehow on one of my test worlds after playing around with the other available mod features, but nevertheless, every new world I create still crashes when I click on Villager/Zombie/ZombiePig. This issue doesn't occur with other mod models(tested with Ars Magica 2, none of the models crashed the game when selected/applied). MineLP version doesn't appear to influence anything.
The other issue I'm having is that armour/tools don't render on the "npcpony" models, at all, although "hand" position still changes to accomodate a tool. All other mob models render armour just fine(even the ponyfied Skeleton model). On the "unbugged" world, armour/tools also render fine on the ponyfied Zombies/ZombiePigmen/Villagers. Also, the above four mobs have the correct model(w/a snout), while the npcpony model doesn't *have* a snout.
I'm not sure, but these two bugs *may* just be related. If you have the spare time, please update the models and (I assume) render classes. It would be even better if you added a filly model/switch (smaller body, proportionately larger head).
In 1.11.2, is there any way to make NPCs use the old, non-animated eye textures? I find that the blinking animation makes them blend in worse with the rest of the world.
That's already a thing for the latest version. If you are talking about 1.7.10, sorry, it isn't supported anymore.
(I know. I dislike that too. I still play mods with 1.7.10.)

Everytime they say their wold line, another instance of their name appears, like attached. I can't find anyone else having this issue or a possible fix. Any response is appreciated, thanks!

I was using the latest version for 1.10.2, Forge version 12.18.3.2221.
I had a chance to mess around with it a little bit after I had posted previously, and went through mods one by one as it appears to be a conflict; when I have Custom NPC's just on its own the chat is fine.
Going through mods one by one I found that the conflict was FTBUtilities. For future reference if anyone else has this problem; Go to local/ftbu/config.json. Scroll to the bottom of the config file and change "override_chat" to false c:
Excuse me, I was wondering if anyone would know about how to use scripts to have activate within a certain distance of a player.
Basically, whenever a player gets nearby the specified radius, a scripted block will run that prevents the player from destroying blocks within that radius (like a town), and a message runs saying "You have entered town."
But there doesn't seem to be a hook that is applicable. Would I have to have this set up as a quest to use the location block and then have that set up to the scripted block, or is there an easier way?
Admittedly, I have very little knowledge on this subject.

You probably need to convert the skins.

It can convert 1.7 skins to 1.8 and 1.8 to 1.7.
This will most likely fix your problems.

You need to make them look one direction manually.
Click the npc, go to AI - movement - edit - rotation
Enter number between 0 and 359. You wil see what direction the npc is looking at
