really quick question here i use the CustomNPC's 1.7.10c mod on my server and i'd like to ask (even if its in WIP) how does the natural spawn thing work ?
I made an NPC and let him spawn in the desert suddenly my whole desert was full of these npcs ^^
just wanted to know aswell is the weighted chance supposed to be high to have a harder time finding that specific NPC or should it be low?
Natural spawning is very much WIP. The tonnes of spawns in a bug, not due to the weight chance. The weight chance is to determine which NPC will spawn over another one, like Npc 1 has a weight of 20, Npc 2 has a chance of 80. So the final chance for Npc 1 to spawn is 20/80, or something similar.
The staffs are oddly not working for me. Though it does the particle affects but nothing else... I have the spells. Anyways great mod! Keep up the good work!
Staves need an item called mana to be used, it acts as ammunition, so if you have none in survival/adventure mode it won't fire. The spells are to allow NPC's to mimic using the staves.

If you require aid with Custom NPC's give me a shout (In the thread, not PM's). I can read a bit of error reports, know most of the NPC workings (I'm attempting to work on scripting) and have been using it since its 1.0 version. Otherwise I'll help with any questions or problems I can.

I'm having troubles with uploading skins. I'm downloading skins off minecraftskins.net and am putting them in the perspective females for humans and such. However, it seems to be deforming the skins when i load minecraft and not showing the right side of the person's head while also muttling the facial Decorations. If it would help to upload pictures, i can do that.

I'm very new to the whole modding thing; vanilla is all I've ever used. Do I need to download Forge to use this mod, or is it just highly recommended? Also, I'm currently playing 1.8.8. Will the 1.8 beta of this mod work on 1.8.8, or do I need to switch to 1.8.0? Will I need to switch to 1.8.0 for Forge?
Woot thanks daottoad it worked my bandit despawns when the bandit horse dies.. All I need now is to get them to spawn together ( spawn bandit horse with the bandit mounted ) then I could finally add cavalry to my scenario's .. do you think you can give me a script that I can give my bandit horse so I can do that.. doattoad?
as for me saying bandit horse it is because ive had to make an combat horse npc.. due to the entity horse's just keep throwing the rider an not working with him.
my idea is that I spawn the combat horse an the rider spawns too
Funny - don't really see any easy way of doing that?
Got an idea in the back of my mind though.....
spawn horse
horse spawns rider
rider broadcast name
horse gets riders "entity" name
Horse puts rider on him
rider sets unmounted death trigger when he realizes he is riding

Hey just a random thought I had but would'nt it be cool if you could sell things in bulk and I don't mean like a chestplate in one slot and a helmet in another I mean like grouping a whole set of armour in one slot and a whole set of tools in another slot and so on I mean I'm no modder so I have no idea how difficult it would be to set up but It just seemed like an interesting idea what do you guys think
(ps sorry if this looks weird but I'm on my tablet posting this and I sometimes have trouble working this thing #i feel old 😋)

Skins have to be in the appropriate format for the version of Minecraft your using. Only 1.8+ skins will work in the beta, and only 1.7.10 and below skins with the aforementioned. The difference is the overall size, 1.7.10 being at 64x32, 1.8+ being 64x64.
Give the internet a search for some tutorials for how to switch between them.

Minecraft Forge is a modloader, meaning any mods made for it, will need it to run. To play with the 1.8 beta, you'll need to be using the actual 1.8 Minecraft version and a compatible version of Forge. Here is a link to the recommended Forge for 1.8, and here is a link to the 1.8 beta version of C-NPC's.
You'll have to download and play the 1.8 version on your Minecraft launcher before you can successful run the Forge auto installer, so do that if you haven't already (search the web with your favourite engine if you don't know how to). Play with the Forge profile selected, then close Minecraft. A folder called "mods" should have generated in you .minecraft directory, put the 1.8 beta of Custom NPC's in there and you should be good to go.

It shouldn't, but you can backup your world to be sure. What NPC's though, didn't you say you couldn't spawn any?

can someone please give me an example of how to use a "key" from this mod to open a specific door that wouldn't open otherwise? 1.7
i thought maybe the redstone block but that only has quest or dialogue filters...
also, is there a way to use the quest reward so that it doesn't dissappear if the players inventory is full?
i made a work around by using a command to place items in a chest but this has it's own drawbacks and gets a bit messy what with not communicating directly with customnpcs when items are removed.
damnit, guess i'll have to use command blocks and the freakin scoreboard system then? i was hoping that i'd overlooked something in the mod that allowed for this kind of behaviour.
testfors and all that mess... awful in 1.7
thanks for posting, i really shouldn't have posted the second part of what i'm up to there as it's just confusing things more than people need, reverting back to my first Q, you're saying "i don't know how it works with npcs" so forgive me but i'm not going to take up your suggestion of adding another mod.
editing here rather than double-posting;) not knowing enough to fulfil this with a custom script, i'm thinking the best way is to forget the "key in door" mechanics and just have another npc quest that involves "fetching" the key to them, then have them execute the command to open the door...
not how i'd rather have it but unless someone knows something specific about this i don't see a better option right now.
Here is how you can do it with scripts - put one in the init tab the other in the update tab
You can find out how to set scripting up yourself if you don't know - I and others have explained that already here - go to Noppes script setup page
In 1.8 you will be able to do this with scriped blocks which would be really cool!
Noppes made exceptions for game breaking bugs a couple times before, other than that it mightn't get a fix.

Will it delete my NPCs?

Dang, I really don't want to move to 1.8.
I just really hope some bugs can be fixed for the 1.7.10 version :C

We can't say for sure when it'll be out of the beta, these things take time. Noppes would have the best chance of giving a close date.

look at my lol champion minecraft version, Ahri! (she does'nt have a tail no, creatah, could you make npcs have tails, for Ahri?
btw,ow did you posts pictures?

Hello player010111,
i don't know how it works with custom npcs but i know a mod that is called "Key and Code Lock Mod".
This mod works with 1.7.10 and includes some features you want to use.
tistGamer
Have a nice day
tistGamer
well, i am using other mods with keys in them, i really want to use this though if possible because it will keep things cleaner..
also, i should probably add that i'd like to have the key get "used" with a message, "gnarly key broke upon opening this door"
I guess you have to use command blocks if you want to "break" keys and to write down messages in the chat.
i hope i got ur message right..

I didn't say I couldn't spawn NPCs, I said they despawned after a while. 1.7.10d is working fine, though. Thank you!

Thanks for the information tobbius, and I found a manual fix for the bug I was hoping to get fixed.
Thanks very much!
