I'm not sure what you mean. The current public client version of MC is 1.0.0. The current public server version of MC is 1.0.1.
Love the mod so far. As far as swamp tree suggestions, how about something a little like a mangrove? Where the main trunk is elevated above the water or ground on it's stilt-like roots. Roots in general on the particularly large trees would also be appreciated, given their propensity for spawning in such a way that they hang halfway over ledges. And big taproots going deep underground would be fun to find while caving near the surface.

That reminds me of the swamp trees in the Twilight Forest mod. I'm thinking I'll probably go banyan style. Banyan trees are awesome.
Yes, I've already written code for roots for the next version because of that problem. I have encountered roots in near-surface caves. Fun stuff. :smile.gif: I'm just trying to make them look cool when a tree generates on the edge of a cliff.

Cool beans. Can't wait :smile.gif: May need to regenerate some forest chunks from the server for that, but it's worth it.
And acacia tree trees maybe for the plains biomes? Extra kudos if you can have them show on 'dry' plains or plains adjacent to desert.
There seems to be some sort of incompatibility between your mod and ExtraBiomes (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/907403-100-ssp-smp-extrabiomes-v13-update-multiplayer/). Not sure what the problem is; the game loads, but when I go to generate a world I get the "Saving chunks" crash. I've tried installing extrabiomes first then bigtrees, and the reverse. They work seperately, but not together :\ *sad coyote*

That would be cool. College has started back so I won't be working on this mod as much, but I would like to add acacia trees sometime. The 'dry' plains part is a good idea as well.

They both modify the biome decorating class. Mine requires a certain decorator check to be bypassed. I've been working on a system so that I don't have to bypass the check, and therefore don't have to modify that class. If I succeed then those two mods should become compatible. But, as stated earlier, I'm not working on the mod very much right now because of school duties. We'll see... :smile.gif:

I guess I got confused with the different version numbers right after a discussion about adding a config file so that I was hoping for a new version. My bad.
Alright, here's the new version y'all! Let me know if anything is askew.
Changes - 1.1 / server 1.1
+ Tall narrow trees grow non-invasively. They will stunt and grow around things instead of growing through blocks.
+ Added roots.
+ Added configuration file.
+ Added sapling growth control. (Wood block below dirt causes a big tree to spawn.)
Screenshots
Hop in a boat and follow me! I'll show you a land with great forests and dark woodlands...
Here! An old forest of some sort!
The trees overshadow the land. Perhaps monsters will spawn?
Perhaps you should build a treehouse!
Let's fly over to the swamp.
Here it is. There are some great big trees in the swamp!
And it can be very dark in places too. Hey Mr. Piggy!
Wow, look how the roots hang off that cliff. Hey Mr. Piggy!
The trees are narrow in this woodland.
And they stand proudly on the great hills.
Even pine trees grow a bit taller in this land.
These trees are long dead. The dry desert has kept them preserved.
We've seen a nice variety of big trees here. Now download the mod! :tongue.gif:
Really like your trees and downloaded it. I am kinda new to MC and trying to add mods recently.
I found out that one of your class file will actually overwrite the same class file from another mod I have installed on my server. Would that make my other mod not working or there is a way to combine them?
So to grow a big tree ourselvs, we have to place a log under a dirt block then a sapling on that and let it grow?
I'd like to spawn a bunch of the 'thin' trees on one of my custom map, will the sapling grow as such or will I have to do the whole world edit copy and paste methood?

That depends on the mod and the file. Try just not copying that file from the BigTrees archieve. (What mod do you have that conflicts?) The most common conflict seems to be the BiomeDecorator class (gx.class in the server version). I'm trying to work on a method where I don't have to modify that file.

Using the wood block guarantees a big tree spawn. Not using the wood block guarantees a small tree spawn. (This only affects regular saplings, not pine or birch.) Some places always grow 'tall' trees, other places always grow 'wide' trees. Sort of like biomes. Does this answer your question? Do you have a feature request? :wink.gif:

I had the Better Ore Distribution mod installed and it has the gx.class file modified (some sort of ore distribution by biome). What I am thinking is... maybe I can do that the other way around. Sounds like Ore doesnt get affected by Biome as much as Trees do. Gotta get some little experiments going to test my theory :tongue.gif:
Is it possible to grow your own thick trees? Every tree I've grown using the log-dirt-sapling method has been narrow, but I'd really like to surround my house with the bigger ones.

...I think trees should be more dense and epic...
...Tall skinny trees look a little awkward...
...That's what I like, I think 1.0.0 was more epic but I might be wrong...
I didn't change any density settings from 1.0.0 to 1.1. I could make a version that made the forests more dense, but, as you suggested, it would be a separate mod download. Because I'd have to modify more classes and therefore increase the mod conflict potential. How do the tall skinny trees look awkward?

Some places will only grow thick trees; Other places will only grow narrow trees. Would you like for me to make a way to control which type grows?

That would be pretty neat. I spawned in a taiga/tundra sort of place and it seems I can only grow narrow trees, but what I've done to circumvent that issue is grow nine narrow trees in a 3x3 grid. If it's too much work I would say don't bother, but I would certainly appreciate it.

That's actually on my list of ideas already, though I'm not sure about the random chests. Maybe have random chests AND a skeleton spawner. XD

I hope I can have both features in my map.

- Tall skinny trees look a little awkward
If you don't want your mod to have dense/thick awesome trees, you think you could make like
Normal -
(dl link)
EPIC -
(dl link)
Epic basically consists of thicker awesome trees.
That's what I like, I think 1.0.0 was more epic but I might be wrong.
Thanks man, :smile.gif:

I can think of one: Finite World 10x10x10. :tongue.gif:
