ok,
v.1.9 update
multiplayer fix
ranged zombies
trees wont drop saplings and saplings will no longer be craftable(requires you to travel to new places to get wood)
may add trap variations
zombies will be able to break:sand, dirt, glass, and cobblestone.(requires you to make stone and not make your hose from dirt or sand)
You're going to have to figure out what to do about food- especially with SMP. And especially if we have to travel. Occasional zombie chickens or cows or something weird like cooking rotten flesh to kill the germs and then crafting it with redstone to make zombie jerky. Why redstone? Because I have tons of redstone.
The other issue with traveling is going to be whether you want us to be able to reset our spawn point as we travel- like with a bed. Maybe this is an opportunity for a new item that resets your spawn to your current location but it DOES NOT cause the whole night to disappear. I think eliminating nights would be a bad idea for this mod. Maybe its a cardboard mat or a sleeping bag and you only "close your eyes for a minute" but it saves your location so if you or one of your smp party dies, they respawn to your latest location if the "beds" are still intact.
The rest of it sounds very interesting. I guess how it'll play depends on how you balance it. I suggest that they break blocks kind of slow. Right now just the bashing on the doors is kind of maddening. It will probably be enough to know they are slowly clawing their way into your house.
It might be good to add a mix of goodies to more of the ruins. Just small stuff slightly better than worthless to your current situation. That way they are always worth exploring. A couple small things in a half chest, or a few ladders or torches. Maybe some Zombie Jerky . Salvaging supplies and materials is fun.
Of course feel free to take or leave anything I add at your discretion. I just throw in my 2 cents because I am dying to not be bored to death by minecraft. Good luck on it.
Ah yes, I get what you mean, that would be cool, but its not what I personally am looking for, I still want the crafting/building of minecraft, I guess it depends on what you want out of this mod, we will have to wait what direction creeperpoison wants this mod to go in, I get the nomadic thing, but it doesn't appeal for my goal, which is a zombieland server for me and my collegues making it hard to survive but possible without generating ridiculously large worlds. It's a matter of personal preference.
It's possible to do both. Maybe you can have a home base, but something about making trips out is beneficial or even necessary. I agree a completely nomadic existence is too much bother. But I like making temporary camps so I wouldn;t mind if exploring was rewarded. I also like my home base, but I hated sitting in it farming wheat. And it was boring killing Zombies for resources I no longer needed. This is off the wall, but what if Zombies repaired ruins and enclosed themselves in darkness so they could spawn more zombies and then once x number gets together, they try to repair another ruin. And so on and so on. Maybe they eventually spawn meaner block breaking zombies. So you can stay home, but you need to go patrol your area and attack any zombie forts before they get too close to your home and start breaking down your walls. And maybe they have cool treasure.
Wow, if creeperpoison could pull this off, it would be insanely cool, a real the walking dead style struggle for survival. Trying to hold on and defend your assets, i'd love that.
diamonds for you my friend! i love your idea and i really hope CreeperP0ison could add this idea it would be freaking insane! ( try thinking of a city right now... you know its there but you don't have good armor... but the longer you wait th stronger the zombies get!)
Anything like that, where there's more substance and more required of you than hacking zombies. I think, whatever Creeperpoison comes up with will be fine as long as SMP works this time
When I attempt to open minecraft after loading the mod, the minecraft screen goes black, could you tell me how to fix this, I have tried for the second time to get this mod and I have downloaded everything you requested me to. But I am still not capable of playing it. Why? Please respond at your earliest convienience.

I think this mod is great, but i wish there was a way to toggle it, because there's no way to just have a Zombieland world and a normal world. Like where you have the option to go Survival, Hardcore, or Creative, you could add an option called "Apocalypse" or something like that to enable this mod ONLY on that server.

I'm sure you already thought of this, but in case a toggle option doesn't happen, or until it does... just make a folder on your desktop called Zombieland and put in a copy of the .minecraft folder with Zombieland and a copy of the server directory that has Zombieland installed. (But don't use SMP yet. It's not working). That's also a way to save backups of different versions of Minecraft and/or different combinations of mods.
Thanks for 1.9!!!!!
Installing now- expecting to get a beating.
Edit-
It's working, but here are a few possible bugs to perhaps fix in 1.9.1- I immediately saw ruins with some planks and a few cobblestone blocks. But some of the planks LOOKED like wood but had to be broken with a pick- I think it was the planks at the bottom of the ruin that were surrounded by a stone border that had stone properties and a wood appearance.
I also saw (in the distance) what I guess were the infected cows because they still have big white heads.
I found a pretty big village right before I came here to post this, just to let you know in case that was a bug. I haven't met the new zombies, but I already seem to be off to too good of a start- depending on how much the zombies are going to destroy my new village fortress.
That was just observations after 2 minutes. I'll be back.
2nd edit-
Village with chest that has iron= ironpick, near two pyramids that have diamond block = diamond weapons and tools 2nd day. Maybe I am extremely lucky, but I wanted the mod to be tougher to play. Lack of food still seems to be the biggest obstacle.
Last edit-
Not sure what to make of all the leather chestplates and sugar and buckets in my inventory. We haven't found anything new except the zombies, which are great, but they aren't much different from the skeleton and the spider, so what you end up with is vanilla minecraft without the creepers. We spawned worlds that had villages with wheat fields so I don't know what it's like without bread, except it's probably rough since there seems to be no other food source.
I can't mod so it's easy for me to say, but I think this mod needs Zombieland specific content. What that is, I don't know. I'm guessing what's here now seems inadequate because it depends on what else is coming in 2.0. I was also hoping some other people would post their discoveries because maybe there is some secret reason for my chest full of buckets and sugar and chestplates. But for now I'm going to wait until 2.0 to see what comes next. Good work so far. Keep it up!
We just quit for awhile after making a base in our spawn world and mining enough to get the diamond and make a portal so I don't know how good it is yet, but it has an example of the mod specific content I've suggested could help Zombieland's future.
Zombieland has tons of potential. I'm anxious to see it reach its potential- or rather play it after it reaches it's potential. Good Luck!
I have been enjoying this mod for 8 days(about an hour each day) of gameplay, although it has become EXTREMELY redundant and boring killing zombies and exploring vast nothingness with a few ruins that get your hopes up then get let down because its just an empty shell, no loot, hidden mosters, nothing. So I found myself at my base farming and eating mushroom soup, bread with a side of fish and wishing there was something to explore other than the fail ruins and the annoying sounds of the ghast and pigmen.
I'm gonna give a few hints to disgruntled players out there that are having a hard time finding food in the beginning.
3 out of 5 games I've started, I have spawned in the ocean and have had to swim 5-10 min before finding land and my immediate concern was food/wood so I began searching the ruins for wood planks and have been extremely lucky to find some, make a pick axe, get a stone sword, kill some zombies for iron and flint, in the meantime, I found pyramids AND the NETHER PORTAL in the treasure room (don't forget to get the diamond in Ra's Eye). If you have killed zombies before this you've gotten iron and flint by now so make yourself a flint n steel and right click on the portal and go to the nether. There are MANY, MANY great things in there but the only thing I've found of use atm is mushrooms, both are in there so pick you a few of each go back to zombie-land. Find a place to plop them down, use some bone meal(bones gotten either from zombies or from skeletal archers in the pyramids) grow them into big mushrooms, farm the big ones, rinse and repeat until you have a substantial amount, all of this took me about 30 min in game and not one death. Farming the pyramid chests about 75% of the time give bread, wheat, mushroom soup and bowls. Craft some mushroom soup and enjoy your full belleh. Another easy way to get food is kill the normal looking zombies for string then get yourself a fishing pole and fish, easy nuff . If you are lucky enough to find a testificate village stay there and only venture out to farm pyramids for their diamond blocks. Once you have diamond armor/tools go back to the nether and explore a bit you never know what you will find
PATIENCE is a virtue in the beginning and afterwards when your base is established. Do like I have if your bored, back up your .minecraft folder and play something else while he adds in more stuff.
One thing I will say to CreeperP0ison if your going to continue this mod and keep it active I would put out small patches here and there and mainly focus on the SMP. This mod as any other adventure mod gets old fast in SSP so the future of this mod is SMP, either fix that area of it or your gonna loose alot of fans
For any who have SMP working for 1.2.5 let me know ill come play with ya
PS. I have used Rei's Minimap mod along with this so it has made it EXTREMELY easier to navigate and it does'nt "give" you items or blocks so I wouldn't consider it cheating. The waypoints are way cool, especially in the nether when that portal becomes extremely hard to find when searching for mushrooms
PSS. Still waiting for the cities to come back.....this base is getting awfully lonely. *backs up .minecraft folder, loads other mods till update

NOOOOOO! /sarcasm Of course I deleted the META-INF folder. I STILL don't know what's wrong.

SMP doesn't work yet. If SSP, did you delete META-INF folder? If you did, try this...

We have started playing "The Twilight Forest"-

Same here, just installed. I spawned in water, no weapons, and there are no ruins anywhere. No houses, no tombs, etc. Sand everywhere though.
You MUST put the resources into the MODS folder! I had that too! Its an easy fix guys
ya sorry about the install its a bit mixed up ATM but in he next version i will make it easyer to understand
