that would be fine with me... as long as the armor and weps still look awesome :smile.gif:
I can't make any promises, anyone else is welcome to make a 32x version of my textures if they wish, but sadly I have a lot on my plate at the moment or I'd do it myself right now >< I've been amassing sprites so I can begin coding right away when 1.0 hits.

So I'm laying out the designs for a "Modern Metals" module for later, just for doing some sprite work primarily for now. So far I'm planning on doing Aluminum, Stainless Steel (Chromium + Steel), and Titanium, are there any other modern metals or alloys people would like to see? (I'd prefer raw ores as opposed to Alloys but either works)
Aluminum Tool Concepts. I realize that for the "modern" tools I'm going to give them dark handles and I'll probably implement some new rods for making their handles. A- to differentiate them from the older tools, even of similar colors, and B- because it'd give the modern tools more depth and distinguishing bits.
Tried to make them look more "automatic", the Axe is basically two buzzsaws, the Hoe a mix of a chain shoveling device and a hoe, Pickaxe is just some sort of pneumatic pickaxe, Shovel is a jackhammer, and the Sword is obviously a chainsword (my homage to Warhammer 40k and the art of mixing chainsaws with swords)

Galena was suggested on another site for a Lead base, I contemplated adding it just for having it in the OreDictionary for other mods to use. There isn't much use for Lead imo for my mod (Lead Armor just isn't good lol)

I had tested such a thing, but when it came down to mixing the two styles of ore into a new style it came out really.. ugly.. and just didn't work out to have more "mid tiers".
I'm looking into some other metals, some fictional some real, for my mod. I'm also contemplating splitting the mod into sections. So it'd be broken down like this:
Additional Ores - Adds Copper, Tin, Bronze, Manganese, and Steel
Valuable Ores - Adds Zinc, Brass, Silver, and Platinum
Fantasy Ores - Adds Mithril, Orichalcum, and Adamantine
Nether Ores - Adds Umbrum, Midasium, and Vulcanite
Utility Ores - Adds Phosphate, Sulfur, and Saltpeter
Gems - Adds various Gems that can be found while mining
Then people could pick and choose their ore sets at will they wish to implement.
I don't like this idea at all...too many downloads...
I don't like this idea at all...too many downloads...
There will be a single "Download all" choice.
The plan is that each pack will be separate for people who want only a certain set of metals (maybe industrial servers only want Modern, Additional, Utility and Gems?) Then each group also can be divided once its installed (IE: Copper will have a config file you can tweak or you can remove copper entirely if you wish by deleting Metallurgy_Copper.zip from your mods folder).
It gives the players more control over each metal and how they want them distributed throughout the world as well as which ones they want.
Update 1.01 is released, fixed an error with Adamantine Shovels and Swords having White Backgrounds (any other tools that do this, PLEASE let me know!)
Also if you would post some screenshots from ingame that'd be greatly appreciated, I like seeing people mess around with it.
Going to try recompiling tonight with a new set of code derived from the old. This new version would reintroduce the old stuff (Stone Tools, Diamond/Gold Spawning) and should be more stable and compatible..

I kinda dont like the look of the titanium tools look, i just dont like the automatic feel to the tools, but then again i would have to see it in game to make my final decision :smile.gif:
Thanks to DaHudson for posting a quick review of the alpha, truthfully since its broken and buggy at best its a nice view at the artwork ingame and seeing some of the speeds.
Not sure about the bed breaking bug, I'm sure that's related to the screwy MCP version I was using, and the speed of steel-iron is statistically different in the files (albeit it may not seem different at a glance it is). Shovel speeds should be as well.
I'll look over the code, next version that's released I'll probably do a recording of it to show off the features, where to find the ore ingame, etc.
It is pronounced Oree-cal-cum btw :wink.gif:

Spent most of this weekend attempting to get MCForge, Modloader, and ModloaderMP working properly, hitting a few snags. After a large volume of hours combating the problem (and some help from a few people) its still unresolved for the time being. I'm going to take another crack at it tonight.
It was brought to my attention in a feedback discussion in IRC that one of the chief issues with having so many metals is that the metals themselves serve no use besides armor/tools/deco (Doors etc.). So I'm curious, where do you guys stand on the topic? I just enjoy mining regardless, the ability to mine tons of various ores in and of itself is interesting to me, but I can easily see the issue of "Mithril is worthless once you have Orichalcum" etc.
So if you are opposed, what suggestions could you muster up that would solve such a problem? If each ore had a single thing it was used to craft specifically to it, what would it be?

Oh are those the two with the white background issue?
