fair enough, but i don't know if you've seen nerd boy's shield mod,
instead of making dual wield
you could make your mod compatible with his mod
that would require much less work.
That still requires modifications to the core that I don't want to make for fear of damaging compatibility.
ok i have just realised i posted a long winded critique, when virtually all my concerns were previously addressed.. this could be do to my lack of forum navigation skills.
Decided for now that the precious gems will be found as "Rough Gems" which are mined from "veins" of 1-3, then these gems can be smelted/purified in a Furnace to get a Raw Gem, which is cut at a workbench. Also debating whether they will stack or not.
They will be implemented in the next full version, they won't serve a purpose (yet) but with integration with OreDictionary other mods will be able to draw from them to use in recipes. I'm working on sprites as we speak.
I'm also seeking concepts for other metals/alloys that could be implemented.
awesome idea... i vote stackable..i like the idea of having a chance to get a gem out of smooth stone..maybe the lesser of available gems? also alternative usage in recipies..such as iron shears, flint and steel, gold clock..not sure what those would be exactly..i like the jewelry idea.
but if you look at his second item slot... :ohmy.gif:
Notch's old rod won't work for any of the new fish.
Fishallurgy started as me studying entities and how they work and a beginning to Bows/Arrows, and resulted in me adding in a large new series of fish. It will be a submod and separate download so those who want it will have it, those who don't won't.
Maybe instead of another wide variety of gem-tools, the ability to enchance your metal tools with gemstone dust or something, and i do like the fishallurgy addon
Gemstones are a long long way off.
But they will have their own enchant system when they're done instead of craftable tools/armor.

There are 3 small veins of each per chunk, out of 275,000 blocks in a chunk, that's a lot of possibilities. I say use Mountains, the ore kinda sticks out usually when you see it.
I've searched about 20 entire mountain ranges and I managed to find 4 adamantine, but no platinum. It's also a bit annoying that a platinum vein looks so similar to a diamond vein, that it gets my hopes up every time I see it, but it always turns out to diamond. It's gotten to the point where I'm actually dissapointed to find diamond. I tried to change the spawn rate, but next to the text for it, instead of a number, there was the female symbol. I have no idea what to do, if anyone knows any better way to find it, I'd like to know. I'm beggining to question whether or not it even spawns at all.
So, we've been playing on our server for a short while with your mod, and aside from the occasional confusion, it seems to be well-received, so that's good news. Some people can't wait for your next update with even more ores (though that'll probably still take a long while).
However, I do have a single complaint/suggestion, which is whether you could make the armors more in-line with the rarity/tier of the ore it is made from. Everyone on the server is simply wearing copper armor, and cannot be killed anymore; even a point-blank creeper explosion is just shrugged off as if it were nothing (2 hearts damage or so).
Anyway, below is a list with the armors and their armor values. Bold numbers are my suggested changes. Italic indicates a vanilla minecraft armor set. I do not know if it's possible to change the vanilla values, but it would be nice if you could.
The point of "nerfing" the early-game armor values is simple: having 10 armor so early in the game, using ore that is readily available everywhere in large amounts, makes having monsters pointless; as you'll hardly take any damage.
I expect you already tweaked with the durability values of the armors, but even those could be lowered a bit. I took 10 creeper blasts to the face, and my copper armor wasn't even scratched.
Once you add all the new ores and armors, you'll also have to give extra attention to making the armor values balanced depending on the rarity of the ore.
With kind regards,
Evangel.
Sadly due to Notch the armor values aren't really tweakable in that regard, the best I can do is set them equal to something else. With how my armor is set up right now you set all armor to the same material which gives the armor value, so it was all 80% or all 60% or what have you. Next patch I'm changing it to where I can manually set it when I declare the armor, so some can be 40%, some can be 60%, some 80%.

There are only 2 veins of 2 platinum per world.
Precious Metals are getting an art pass that will change their color grades and their ore art so you can distinguish them more clearly from other metals.
Hey everyone, we're McJamesley, we make YouTube videos on popular games, saw this awesome mod and decided to make what seemed to us as a quite in depth mod spotlight.
It would be awesome if you could check it out! =D
Awesome! Going to go post this to the main thread now.

It doesn't say Metallurgy is for 1.0, it says Metallurgy is V1.0, that's due to me not updating my version # on the mod.
Copy the error into spoiler tags. I'm pretty sure its probably an ID conflict.

I'm so tired I totally misread this and was sad, then I reread it twice and was like "Woohoo!"
Also, Fishallurgy has a damn catchy name.
