Just tried using it.. The completed recipe book appears and then quickly disappears. Could it be something on the server side that isn't letting me create it?

The object itself may be server side only, probably is because it's something craftable. But luckily you don't need to have crafted the book to be able to use the guide, just hit 'G'.
More IC² compatibility (might still have issues, but hopefully works fully)
BuildCraft compatibility (assembly table recipes weren't showing some inputs)
Working (though fairly empty) config screen:

CraftGuide, recipe viewer with a scrollbar! (Resizable window, too, if you prefer playing with a smaller GUI scale and are tired of GUIs only occupying a tiny square in the centre)
Finished most of the config screen (clipping rectangle is a pixel to large, though):
All of the text in the option list is read from a .lang file, and automatically wrapped to fit the current GUI size.

CraftGuide 1.6.8.0 finally adds a way to adjust config settings in-game, at least for the more useful options.
There's the usual bugfixes and compatibility improvements, as well as partial language support. If you are using a texturepack which affects it, the item icon will appear less blue, as it is no longer colored in the code.

(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
Have you implemented (or considered implementing) the API from NEI, which supports various mod crafting blocks?
So that we can use some other mod's workbench, or blast furnace, or demonic furnace, or infusing table, etc.
I do not know how NEI-specific that API is, or whether it is open for other mods to implement. CraftGuide has its own API as well, though far fewer mods use it currently.
In theory, it would probably be fairly simple to write an adapter between NEI's recipe format and CraftGuideRecipe, but it would also cause issues with either no or conflicting copies of NEI's API classes, and NEI recipes tend to be fairly wide, so would significantly reduce the number of columns shown by CraftGuide.

Really? That's a weird recipe for a gun...but you know you don't need the actual book anyway right? You can just hit G without having ever made the book and it works fine?
are you going to implement server recipe reporting?
I want to, but it's a complex feature with all sorts of potential issues to solve (transfer format, structuring the protocol to limit server impact (if someone can abuse it to lag or even DoS a server, it'd be quite a problem), API changes to support it, probably a GUI to make recipe layout easier, some way for the server and/or resource packs to override recipe layouts (if a mod adds new recipes serverside which are not included clientside, there must be a way to define how they are displayed on the client. It'd be a good time to make the API easier to use, if I can find a more convenient and flexible layout system)).

Most mod recipes are covered.

Go to options and go to controls, find the control and change it.

Sure, if you get a patch. The ingredients and things all look right but the actual menu won't change no.
You can put it in the OP if you want.

Every time I right click on the book I get a crash.
Looks like a significant issue. Ill try to put together a bugfix release as soon as I find what's causing it.
