Place 6 valves in a 3x2 pattern on a tank side and put a redpower fluid pipe and you get this http://paste.ubuntu.com/1497627/
the world will crash on load until you change the ID of the pipe to something else in the redpower config
which will delete all pipes from the world
Edit: you have to place the pipe on one of the upper valves they also don't output anything to liquiducts
For CJ's benefit... and also so others don't build this same thing by accident. http://imgur.com/VNdob
The loop in the pipe isn't important, it the upper of the 2 connections on the input side of the pump that causes it.
Section of log showing redpower crashing, guess it can't cope with getting a null liquid or something.

A detailed walkthrough of the error, its code path and all known details is as follows:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Was testing separating oil and water by have two 5x5 tanks 1 block apart using gold pipes. It appears that the intake on the tanks is considerably less per-valve the then output of a gold pipe. Tried testing with cobblestone and a 4 redstone engine and it still seems to generate backflow. Using a 2x2 valve setup on the sides it is possible to lockup the pipes between the two tanks (despite there only being one pipe block between.) What exactly are the mechanics on the tank valve block for how much throughput they can handle? It may need to be increased to match at least a cobblestone pipe. Haven't tested with Redpower pipes yet (but afaik Redpower doesn't generate backflow).
so i saw a mention or two about fml being messed up and not being able to run railcraft and i may or may not be having a similar issue. I'm trying to run railcraft for 1.4.6, The latest version says i need the latest version of forge, which crashes on me. the earlier one says it needs forge 6.5.0.472... which is an issue for me as i con only seem to find 6.5.0.471... if i'm merely overlooking it as i'm sure i am, please link me or tell me how i can find it.
Shameless bump. i really want to know if there's a fix to this. i found where i can download any of the forge's i want to, but none of them seem to work past the recommended one, which in turn will not run railcraft.
How can I craft a Disposal Track without the Factory module? I turned on "useAltRecipes" and "creosote" options in railcraft.cfg, but still need Steel Plate to craft it.

"Nothing is built upon rock: for all is built upon sand: but let each man build as if sand were rock". (Jorge Luis Borges, Evangelio Apocrifo)
Steel is part of Railcraft. Just cook Iron Ingots in the Blast Furnace to get Steel Ingots which can be used to make Steel Plates in the Rolling Machine.
There is no Blast Furnace without the Factory module. Please read http://railcraft.wikispaces.com/Factory (Module) - "If the Factory module is not enabled, the recipes for many items will be simpler though oftentimes more expensive"

Oh, I thought you meant some Factory mod, not the module. I have no idea why you wouldn't run Railcraft with all the modules though? You can still sometimes find Steel Plates as chest loot I believe.
so I'm debating whether i should melt down my iron armor and make steel armor. but i have two questions: 1: does the remaining durability of the to-be-melted-down iron armor effect the steel ingot output?
answered myself, for those who don't know(if there IS anyone who doesn't)if the armor has ANY durability loss(like if you wore it and was hit EVEN once), it won't even commence the melting process.
2: what is the difference between iron and steel armor? just the durability, or is there an armor points increase with steel?
Hello people. Now I finish the adaptation of Railcraft v6.13.1.0 for Faithful x32.
Here the download link (Mediafire): http://www.mediafire...attg9e0c1vga0po
Someone please help me i posted this quite a while ago but got no answer
I am having a problem, when i place hs booster tracks or hs tracks and go too far they look like regular tracks but when i break them they are still hs tracks or hs booster tracks, this only happens when i am quite a distance away from the tracks. anyone else having this problem?
Why do my tracks look like vanilla tracks when i go to far away from them and come back?

I can't promise everything will work once you start fiddling with the configs, BUT in this case you should be able to craft Steel Plates in a workbench. Your only problem is though is getting Steel Ingots. You can however find Steel Blocks in mineshafts sometimes.
Hooking up a loader/unloader. When it's done it always goes in the same direction it came from. I saw a glimpse of a track in a video making it go the other direction after it left the loader/unloader. What track was it and what setup is needed to go the other way?
FTB got all of the required permissions. They didn't just outright steal the mods and throw them in a pile and/or edit them as they pleased. FTB was upfront and did it all correctly and legally.
Not what I was asking. In the beginning, yes, that was true. However, I know some FTB users that are, hmm, noobier? than what you assume Tekkit users to be.
(Oh, and by the way, not really a Tekkit user here, so don't even accuse me of fanboyism)

Oh, and drop the 'legality' crap.
The 'legality' crap is the entire crux of the issue. No one really cares if modpack users are noobs or not so long as the pack respects the license requirements of the software they use. Like it or not copyright law is just that, a law. The wording of the law applies to minecraft mods in the same way it applies to anything else even if those behind technic/tekkit declare otherwise.
Following that law to its ultimate conclusion in these cases is really not a good place for the community to go, so can we all just play nice for once?
I've been hearing some disturbing activities within Railcraft.
Specifically threats of implimenting Malware. So users please be careful when using this mod.
You're reaaaallly stretching the definition of malware there bud. What Sengir did was not malware and you're taking a vague statement from CJ and assuming nuclear war.

Does playing nice involve threats, DMCA, malware, whatever? No. Also, railcraft considered, I'm not sure if there is even enough modified for there even to be a derivative work copyright. Copyright law is not just slapping whatever license on anything.

The rules of the license deal will contain:
* Mods must only be playable by people who have bought Minecraft
* You can’t sell your mods or make money off them unless you’ve got a
separate license deal with us
* The mods must not be malicious (obviously)
* We retain the right to use your mod idea and implement it ourselves
in Minecraft. This is to prevent the situation where we have to avoid
adding a feature just because there’s a mod out there that does
something similar. It’s also great for dealing with bug fixes provided
by the community.
For CJ's benefit... and also so others don't build this same thing by accident.
