Future Plans:
-More skills (suggestions welcome, though I already have some more ideas)
-Possibly adding other ways to get XP besides killing mobs (i.e. mining ores, crafting things, etc.)
-Perhaps more random new mechanics like the sneaking one
I was actually thinking about this the other day. :laugh.gif:
But I had something a bit different in mind. Instead of a skill points system, I was thinking of being able to get different kinds of experience orbs depending on what activity you are doing(cooking,mining,etc.). Then you also get a GUI that displays the level of each skill.
It would be cool if you get Defense exp. orbs from successfully blocking attacks or Archery exp. for successfully hitting a mob 10+ blocks away or Stealth exp. for a successful sneak attack. And Mining and Woodcutting exp. for mining/chopping the appropriate blocks.
And for Sword and Athletics maybe just use the old orbs and your skill points.
If this was how it worked, you'd only advance in the skills that you practiced. But doing this would make you have to change more stuff, and I know as it is, this mod would be incompatible with most mods. But since I don't use any mod directly editing those class files, I'll use this mod sometime(after finishing SkyBlock survival map). :biggrin.gif:
Nice work! Even though you didn't explain the mod very much, you're basically the first person to demonstrate the "higher level" effects of the mod (like the increased drawback speed of the bow, which really showed when you were shooting your pigs, and all the random crits you got when killing the zombies). Putting in OP
I saw that none of 1.3, I Do another one for 1.4 or 1.3 lol. I'll try hit Around Level 50-60 and show the Mod and Explain it all. When the time comes, You could help with some features to state :smile.gif:
Is there anyway to hack yourself to lv50 on every skill? I just dont feel like killing over 100 mobs just to get to lv50 for one skill. Yeah i know it sounds kinda stupid but is there any way?
Here is another suggestion. What if you added achievements/quests. You could make it so it uses the statistics system. The quests could be like kill 10 pigs and it will add +1 to sword or run 1000 blocks and give +3 athletics. Anyway could up the good work and i'll always support this mod and any other you make! :smile.gif:
Please make it that you will not lose exp on death. Got to level 53, then died by an assassin creeper -.-
Also, an skill that increases your chance to get more drops from Mobs (Good, and bad). Heroism? :biggrin.gif:
Keep it up!

You got to level 53?? Legitly (i.e. without using hacks/other mods to farm XP easily)? Man, that's dedication.
As for not losing all XP... I've said many times that it is something I'm working on. I actually think I might have an idea of how I could do it.

Actually, I was thinking of including in the .zip an extra alternate version of the abj.class file that will give you 600 skill points (enough to max out the 12 skills there will be in 1.4) upon loading up any world. This would be primarily for people who want to make videos of the mod, but I suppose you could use it just to mess around, too.

Achievements are something I've had on my mind, but their addition is pretty low priority right now. I'm not even sure what kind of achievements there would be. Originally I thought of just having achievements for reaching certain levels in/maxing out skills, but I dunno. Using the stats system to keep track of them would be a good idea though. I also like the idea of rewards for the achievements, but I'm not sure what they'd be. I guess bonus points to skills is a possibility.
Also, The mod is NOT compatible with Minecraft Forge. However, a compatibility fix WILL be available in 1.4. Stop asking me about it!!!!1!!!11onethousandonehundredeleven
That is all. By the way, I've been working on the Digging skill. It's pretty boring, I mean it's just--wait, what's that??
:ohmy.gif:
Its already is merged with modloader just make sure to install modloader before you install this mod or it will cause a crash.
Also so I won't have to make another post this mod will crash if forge is installed. But it only crashes when breaking any block. I will try to get a crash log but not sure if I can do that tonight.
I still got problems with it. I'll bring you more info if I can figure what mod this is not agreeing with.

Well there really shouldn't be anything wrong, but just in case I've remade the aaa merged class and double-checked it for accuracy with the standard ModLoader aaa.class. I'll put the new one in for 1.4.
Seems that the Level UP! Mod isn't compatible with Buildcraft...
Just now installed it and it crashes all the time. Took my time with the installation of the mods and it was Level Up! that was the guilty party...
Damn, well we will see how it goes in the future...
FAKE EDIT:: OH!!! Just noticed that you said it wasn't compatible with Minecraft Forge, just realized that you need it for Buildcraft. My bad... Will wait...

I knew big gigantic text filled with exclamation marks would be able to get the point across. After all, this is the Internet. :wink.gif:

Don't know if I need any installation videos in the OP. If it seems like people need one though, I'll definitely keep this in mind.
Mk if you want to use it go ahead ur choice (P.S. great mod.)
this mod is half compatible with modoptionsapi.....It runs fine but I cannot find the allocate skill points button.it like dissappears from it place
Probably because ModOptionsAPI overwrites the in.class, which is responsible for putting the button there. I'm sill preoccupied with MC Forge compatibility for right now. I actually got it working, but for some weird reason, the arm swinging animation doesn't play...

Nope. I hear it's compatible with CJB's though. Also, apparently there's a way to make it work with Rei's Minimap, but I'm not entirely sure how.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I just finished reworking the mining XP system, and the bug is now fixed.

There, are you people happy now?
:smile.gif:
Also, note to self: You're not Notch. Your teasers aren't that important. :sad.gif:
