This mod raises the natural cactus growth height to 6 blocks. Cacti will now grow to five blocks high and the sixth block will be a pink rose that can be crafted into 4 pink dye. The flowers were suggested by my friend, user Vahkiti, and the growth height is because I saw a wild cactus behind McDonalds (the first one I've ever seen; they aren't as common as everybody seems to think they are) and it was huge. Bonemeal will now work on Cacti, but for now only updates the random tick count. Consistently, it requires about three stacks of Bonemeal to fully grown a cactus unless you're in Creative. This will be fixed. Pink Flowers will now generate naturally in place of Dead shrubs because I think it's prettier that way. As a side effect of making flowers placeable on sand, Tall Grass and Flowers will now generate in deserts. I think it looks nice and will not fix it. The result is that deserts now look more like the wasteland outside my house irl.
As a test for creating a block, I made the Weighted Companion Cube. I first made a simple texture for it months ago but didn't like how it looked by the time I actually got around to making the block to put it on. This texture was made by Vahkiti. The block has the placement physics of sand, is destroyed in one hit with no tools, and can be smelted for cake. It's crafting recipe should be easy to figure out by yourself.
This is a block based on the Stevehead Hats that Mojang give away at conventions to anybody wearing blue. The block has six different textures on all sides and orients correctly in all four directions that pumpkins can rotate in. I wanted to give it the rotation physics of the pistons but since it had already taken me a week to get the textures to function with pumpkin physics I decided to ahead to the hat part. For what feels like two weeks, I tried everything I could to make it do what I wanted but couldn't for the life of me figure out what code made the pumpkin work as a hat. I could find the code for the Effect of wearing the pumpkin but could not actually find the code allowing it to be worn. I was about to give up after even Evil_Notch couldn't help me, but then I discovered that user ChubbyBalboa, maker of this Adorable Nyan Cat Mod, was working on a similar mod. With his help, I was finally able to get the block to do.
I haven't added any effect for wearing it yet; I guess I'm doing the Notch thing, adding a feature without having any plans for it. It's crafted the same way as regular helmets, but out of paper.
None of these blocks appear in the creative mode inventory as of yet. Sorry.
Download the latest version for 1.8.1. It should work both with and without Modloader. If you have any problems I'll work on them and fix them in the next update.
Because of how few files there are here, I could probably update this to work with 1.8 without the Minecraft Coder Pack. Doing so would be pointless until 1.8 gets an "official" release, as that version will likely have more files for NPCs and giant mushroom generation, and thus a different set of file names, but if anybody wants pink flowers in the prerelease I'll see what I can do.
Don't play worlds in 1.8 that were generated with this mod installed in 1.7.3; the Data Value I used for pink flowers is the same that was is being used for Silverfish blocks. 1.8 version will obviously use a different value.
OP rewritten; crappy Companion Cube texture replaced with awesome one made by Vahkiti, and block made to do like sand. Wearable Stevehead Hat block added.
Awesome. I don't think anyone has ever thought of these things before. You see so many pink flowers on Cacti in texture packs, but never as an actual obtainable item.
OT: Now I'm hoping someone else will post to get my mind off the fact pedo-bear appears to be right behind me...
Somebody uploaded this without my permission to a website which does NOT give me money for downloads. I desperately need the money, and I do not consider programming at my current level of expertise (read: none) to be enough fun to do pro-bono. I will not be releasing anymore mods until I already have the money I need and don't need to care anymore.
Edit: I was very upset at the time and have no intention to actually stop making mods.

Previous versions:
1.7.3: Only includes Pink Flowers, Raised Cactus Height, and Bonemeal mods
1.8.1v1: No Stevehead; Companion Cube sucks.

Click or it will die!
For now, enjoy some Pink Flowers with your Beef. It has now been updated for 1.8.1!
