I noticed that this mod affects the cv.class file, does that mean it won't work with OptiFine? I'd love to use this mod but I *can't* play without OptiFine.
On the OptiFine thread, the Mod Compatibility Spoiler says:

I'm curious as to why Mojang haven't hired Hippoplatius.
I was thinking the same thing. First pistons, now this. I saw on the news for the forums that Notch looked at this. He is most likely going to add it for the next update (I hope) or a few afterwords. Thats two mods that one man has created for the game that Notch will integrate into it. He might as well just give Hippoplatius a job at Mojang. I think the game would be so much better with his ideas that he has been having, and if he can work on them 8 hours a day, That would mean even more things put into the game like paint and pistons. Pistons revolutionized the way people make adventure maps and there are hundreds of videos on youtube that give minecraft more attention. Paint will most likely change the face of the pixel art and make peoples housing MUCH more customizable. If he gets a job at Mojang, he would definately change the game for the better. thats just my two cents on NOTCH HIRE HIPPOPLATIUS IF U ARE IN UR RIGHT MIND.

lol this would realy help me out in smp this guy keeps showing up and taking my castle so i find different ways to annoy him to come out the gate so i beat the **** out of him i am using blocks (he wear's diamond armor) so i makee him wear dimond armor i his statue but make him looks crazy for him to come out but now he's uses sdk so he just grabs his bazooka and blows it up (so i don't get the diamond blocks back) if i paint oon the walls he will have to come out cause there are other people that would laught if i called him a noob on my wall :smile.gif: any way good mod
Due to 1.8 coming out soon, I've decided there will be no updates until 1.8 officially comes out (and probably not for a week or so after that). The next update will include:
A detail brush. Crafted with a feather instead of a wool block, this brush will allow you to paint with 1 pixel.
Huge SMP protocol changes. Bascially, there will be less SMP lag.
Possibly a way to rise off brushes by crafting with a water bucket.
I'd like to add damage, but it would be complicated without changing a bunch of stuff. Currently I'm using damage to store color (like wool or dyes).
Mojang is not planning on adding this mod to Minecraft.

I'm curious, did you make it so you change the actual texture files, or did you do it another way? And do you store what was painted in NBT?
Good questions! For drawing the paint, I let Minecraft draw the block first, and then draw a texture on top of all block faces with paint. I don't modify the textures; I make new ones.
For storage, everything is currently stored as a list of block positions and paint data. It's not stored with the chunk data, even though that would probably be better. I didn't do that, though, because it would mean more modified files and thus more incompatibility.

Do you need to install it with a fresh minecraft.jar? (so you need to install TooManyItems and SinglePlayerCommands after installing THIS mod (you need to do this on some mods so this is my question))

OK, so I know that you are the epic modder dude, and not me, so I'm gonna keep this short. Why don't you add a place-able paint bucket, possibly crafted with like 6 different dyes and a bucket. When right clicked, this would open a GUI, with a large RBG chart thing that would let you use many, many moor colors than before! I know this might not be possible, but please look into it!
