You raise good points. Now that you bring it up, it's true, we can die and lose everything. In that case, it makes sense for the ironwood set to be mid-level equipment. But, I think it would be cool if later on in development, there would be weapon/armor sets that were not constrained to the diamond limit. Perhaps not to an exaggerated extent where there's an arms race, just stronger enough where certain bosses require a TF exclusive set of weapons/armor. Perhaps there could be bosses that drop really rare crafting items for new decorative blocks or decorative armor that has the same defense as diamond armor.
Btw I was never sure what the raven feathers (and the enchanted one) do, what do they do?
Oh right, I need to add the raven feathers and stuff to the items section on the front page. They're used in making the magic map.
As for the bosses, we'll see how I feel when I get back to making them. It's a lot of work making bosses, with all their special behaviors, and I worry that if I make them super-strong or with high requirements, then less and less people actually get to experience them. That essentially I'm doing the same amount of work, but less people enjoy it.
I have tried for over an hour here to get this mod working for my little private server. I've gotten really far. The only thing is... The portal isn't working. I know you said this on the front page, but I just can't seem to locate my modloder.txt-file anywhere. Maybe I'm just being stupid, but could you be a bit more specific about it's location? Oh, and even if I do find it, is there a way to fix it? I'd really like to have this mod, and if there's nothing I can do I'll accept that of course, but if there's anything you could suggest for me to try, I would be very greatful.
I've had a really fun time trying to install this mod on my server. I've run into so many errors I never even dreamed of finding. So to take it shortly, it's been a blast. I really like dealing with this kind of stuff. But of course, I the best part is always when I finally get it working in the end. Sometimes, I have to give up when there's nothing left to try and I understand that, but regardless, I like to push on to the very end. I'll be stalking to see if anyone decides to be kind enough to give me an answer. Anything at all would be helpful, please. =D
I see! There's no modloader.txt on the sever, since there's no modloader installed there. When you start the server up, it should say in the server window which mods are loaded. So if it says that the Twilight Forest mod is loaded, then probably the portal isn't assembled correctly. If it doesn't say that it's loaded, then obviously there's an error in the installation. Let me know if you need more help.
I am running a few mods, three of which are Niftycraft, ThaumCraft, and The Twilight Forest mod. I specified these three because they each add a new type of armor, however there is some conflict where all the armor looks like the cobblestone armor from Niftycraft, I was wondering if anyone knew how i would be able to fix that texture issue, I can list the other mods if it would help
Thanks for the report. It occurs to me that I just put a fairly generic value in some internal field related to armor rendering. The two mods could be clashing. I'll have to check it out.
Oh my god the Hydra... I recommend everyone to use Creative mode or TMI/NEI to get a Spawn Hydra egg and check them out. I predict an epic fight once they actually get AI.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Random acts of petty fanboyish hatred?
Hi there. Loving the mod but noticing a few problems.
I haven't come across any of the little animals just yet, and on the server the whole thing crashes with a concurrent modification error. My friend has been able to force this crash by engaging with groups of redcaps. If a full error report is needed I can post one.
The mods I use are Simple Ores, Netherrocks, Custom Stuff, NEI, Backpacks, Twilight Forest 1.9.0, and Animal Bikes.

Thanks for the information. I've been investigating that crash, but I've not been able to reproduce it. I'm beginning to suspect that perhaps it doesn't happen if there's only one person on the server, like when I'm testing. Perhaps it is something in the Redcap AI causing it. I'll check it out as soon as I get a chance,
this is the BEST mod i have ever PLAYED!!!! It has everything i wanted like giant trees, mazes, wizard towers, and the best thing of all is that it has DIRT BLOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May I ask what a maze map does? It appears to do nothing when held in hand
If you got a Maze Map through creative mode or NEI or something, it won't show anything because it will be centered on your spawn. Normal maps work the same way. You need to actually craft it for it to show anything near you.
Speaking of, I updated the main page with information about how the maps work and how to craft them. It's in the Items section.
Love the mod! I took over a Wizards Tower and now it's my base of operations.
P.S. Is it normal to have strongholds right under the ground in the Twilight Forest?
It is, kind of. The current strongholds are just a placeholder for when I eventually make my own. I figured it couldn't hurt to leave them in for the meantime.
So as far as I can tell from the modloader text the mod is loading properly but for some reason I can't get the portal to open
I'm pretty sure it's set up properly. Can anyone help?
It looks set up properly, but the mod can't recognize flowers from other mods. Use the yellow and red ones (or mushrooms or tall grass) only. I'm hoping to change that eventually, but it's not at the top of the priority list.
I recently set up a home server for me and my friends, and thought Twilight Forest would be an excellent addition to give people a place to go fight some tough baddies. However, it seems my computer may not be beefy enough to host this mod. Is it expected for the added level 7 to keep ticking even though no players are there, and to keep over a thousand chunks loaded?
For the time being, I'm gonna have to scrub this one from the server. I love the concept and had fun poking around it in SSP, but just can't handle the server load. My average tick with no players connected dropped from around 20ms with it installed to 1.05ms after removal.
Thanks for producing an excellent mod! I'm looking forward to the day that I can use it in multiplayer!

I think I did see a twitter (or maybe reddit AMA) post from Jeb explaining that he wasn't planning any more dimensions for the time being, because of the load they put on the server.
That said, I think there is an option in the code to unload the dimension when there's no players in it. I didn't use it because, TBH, I'm not a server guru and I wasn't sure if the mod would work or not with that flag set. If it does work, I could perhaps make it an option in the config file.
I don't think it would change the intense server load when there's players in the dimension though, just when it's empty.
I've downloaded the Mod and it's too awesome. I love it. But I encountered a problem. I don't know if something went wrong while I installed it but the Magic Map is just the "Strings" Item. Is it supposed to be like this or is it a bug?
Not sure if this has been mentioned before; or if this is where to mention it but,
The bosses really need to be worked on. Theyre a bit too..... easy, and the reward you get is crap...I was first expecting to get like 5000 xp
but I only went up to level 10... And maybe when you kill them you can get some special item... Like diamonds or something...
heya fellows. AWESOME MOD! now that that's out of the way, i do have a problem. i have equivalent exchange, thaumcraft, and twilight woods installed. i keep trying to combine a raven's feather with the blaze and glow dusts, but it doesn't work. the other thing is, the feather doesn;t look like it does in the preview on the first page. any ideas?

It sounds like something went wrong with your install. The map should have an appropriate icon. Perhaps it's using the normal items sprite sheet for the Twilight Forest items? I don't really know why that's happening.

Thanks for your feedback. How hard the bosses are kind of depends on what kind of equipment you have. They're designed to be 'just right' with iron equipment, so of course they'll be easier with better gear and harder with worse gear. What sort of gear were you using?

The seed and Coordinates are there for you.

We had to do some block ID changing and since the mod_TwilightForest.cfg only had this checksum thing we used the normal TwilightForest.cfg

A firefly and an empty glass bottle. Should be on the front page, in a spoiler tag under the items section.
