Aether Extended, Artefacts and 1.02 Fixes
I present to the Aether-loving community my recent work, adding to the already fantastic world that is the Aether. The Aether has really given me my first drive to mod, and here it is. My work has had three components:
Aether Extended, a mod which adds extra features to the Aether.
Artefacts, a mod which adds extra loot and loot crafting to the Aether.
Aether Fix, a mod which fixes some bugs in the Aether 1.02.
1. Install Aether (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/495374-173-aether-collaboration-mod-v101-bug-fixes/).

Falling onto an aercloud from any height will now completely negate all fall damage, always.

Pressing SNEAK when falling with a Golden Feather equipped makes you fall at the normal rate.

Added a new item: the Moa Whistle! This whistle is crafted by first creating a zanite whistle, and then enchanting it. Once enchanted, it will have three uses before it depletes and returns to a dormant zanite whistle. But what does it do? When you hold it and right click on any block, you will summon your last ridden moa from wherever it might be! Artefacts:
Installing this mod requires Aether Extended. It adds functionality that the extra loot depends on.
This mod adds more loot to the Aether, as well as the ability to break down some loot to craft new, very powerful artefacts if enough loot is acquired. Key additions are as follows:

Crafting Materials:

Phoenix Feather, broken down from fire-based loot.

Eternal Flame, crafted out of many Phoenix Feathers and a Regeneration Stone.

Neptune's Tear, broken down from water-based loot.

Heart of the Ocean, crafted out of many Neptune's Tears and an Iron Bubble.

Lodestone, crafted from heavy loot (shields, hammers of notch, the new rings of protection added here).

Hardened Lodestone, crafted from Lodestone and Diamond.

Captured Wind, broken down from wind-based loot.

Eye of the Gale, crafted from many Captured Winds and a Regeneration Stone.

Binding Rod, crafted from golden amber and a life shard.
Note: To break down loot into the relevant material, simply place the loot in the crafting window.

Consumables:

Brazen Amber, crafted from many golden amber and a phoenix feather. Feeding this to a moa will temporarily give it unlimited jumps and increase its speed slightly. It will appear in the AetherExtended jump meter.

New Loot:

Rings of Protection, which increase your armour by a small amount when worn.

Swiftwind Feather, an accessory which increases your movement speed.

Artefacts:

Phoenix Pendant, which gives the same effect as wearing a full Phoenix set, permanently. Crafted from Brazen Amber and Eternal Flames.

Neptune Amulet, which gives the same effect as wearing a full Neptune set, permanently. Crafted from Neptune's Tears and Hearts of the Ocean.

The Terraformer, a hammer of great mining power. It mines very effectively, but its strength lies in its special ability: with a right click, it will knock out a 4x4x4 area of blocks of the same type you clicked on. This ability drains some of the Terraformer's power, which will recover over time. Crafted from binding rods and hardened lodestone.

Inferno's Charge, a staff that can create fire. Use it on the ground and set it ablaze. Use it on an enemy, and they will burn! Use it while pressing SNEAK and you will summon a wall of fire in front of you! Use it to throw fireballs at enemies! Each fire wall or fireball created will drain the Inferno's Charge's power a bit, which recovers over time. Crafted from a Binding Rod and Eternal Flames.

The Tidecaller, a staff that can create water. Clicking anywhere with it creates a water source there. Clicking on a water source will destroy a 4x4x4 area of water. Clicking on a water source while pressing SNEAK will instead add another water source onto it (allowing you to, for example, create towers of water). Crafted from a Binding Rod and Hearts of the Ocean.

Gale Feather, an accessory which acts as a Golden Feather and a Swiftwind Feather combined, with slightly faster movement speed. Crafted from Captured Winds, a Gale Eye, a Golden Feather and a Swiftwind Feather.
Note: These artefacts are unique in nature. They will stay with you even if you die.

New Mounts:

Red Moa, a slightly faster Moa with 9 jumps. Hatched from a rare drop in a Gold Dungeon. It'll need some tender treatment before you can incubate it, and once incubated it'll need some more tender treatment to be ridable. It won't be easy, but it'll be worth it.

Phoenix, the rarest of the birds. This bird is summoned with the Phoenix Rod, which is very, very difficult to craft. If you find yourself with one of these, the bird has two special functions: it is permanently under the effects of Brazen Amber, and it will slowly gain speed as you move with it, making it very valuable for long distance Aether travel.

More to come and improvements to be made! I especially need to work on the icons for some of the items, and welcome ideas for new additions to the extended loot I offer here.

The process for reviving a red moa egg from a strange cracked egg is a lengthy one, but trust me: the end result will be worth it!
Once you have your red moa egg, incubate it as normal. Feeding him after incubation, however, is a little different!
Your moa will give you hints as to what he needs at any given time. You have to fulfill those needs a total of nine times to help him grow into a ridable red moa. Things he may need are: Aechor Petals, Neptune's Tear, Lodestone and Phoenix Feather. Pay attention to his feelings, and feed him accordingly!

Aether Fix:

Fixes the aether slots no longer adding their armour values to the player's total armour (gloves in particular, but also including rings from the Artefacts mod).

Zanite armour functions properly again (gaining armour as it degrades, not losing.)

Gloves now properly take damage whenever you take damage.

Items in the new aether slots will now properly drop when you die (instead of just vanishing and costing you all that good loot).

If any had a crash which previously broke a save, please try downloading this: http://www.mediafire.com/?t2ffgtin2vopctx and placing it in your minecraft.jar. It should fix all bugs related to blocks which have no item associated with them (which was causing crashes if you broke a locked dungeon block or a trap block). This will also fix any other crash of this nature (not just mine), but it does add some checks to item stacks which may slow your game down. You can simply install this, open your world, save it, then close it again and switch to your original iz.class to clean up a broken world. Or leave it in, the checks won't hurt anything (they just might slow you down).
All of the programming work herein is done by me, with the exception of a few of the sprites (and hopefully more sprites soon!)
Icalasari is helping me slowly improve the overall quality of the sprites found in Aether Extended and Artefacts.
Also, obvious credit goes out to the entire Aether dev team for being easy to work with and for making mods that are well written and easy to interface with.
Credit to Crysyn for letting me throw Moa Whistle ideas at him to solve some of the bizarre use cases that produced horrible bugs.

Disclaimer:
I've been in contact with the Aether team and have run this by them before releasing. They are agreeable with this. The fixes I provide here are only temporary until they release 1.02 so people can play this easier. It is not meant as a replacement (and won't even come close with the features they'll add). This mod is maintained independently by myself, and when 1.02 comes out I will update it accordingly. I plan only to add to the Aether's awesomeness. Feedback and criticism in this thread is welcomed.
Awesome. Was on the IRC when you were talking about this. Will comment on how well it worked when I've finished trying it out.
EDIT: So, i've been goofing around in the Aether for the past... three? hours now, too busy having fun with a world properly populated with spawns that I totally forgot to comment.
Does a ZOMGWTFBBQHAX do it justice? ...It does not. this mod fix to the Aether Mod fixes not only the spawning issues but actually makes the world feel alive, and fix/introduce things that just feel right, like they should have been there in the first place. Kingbdogz, Flan, Kodaichi, the rest of you; hire this (wo?)man for your team! Amazing quality mod to a mod. <3
<Pluecherry777>: I still think its funny that in 5 months, a group of modders made a mod thats actually better than a game thats been around for 2 years...
Can you now kill Aerwhales?
Didn't see anything about that
Nice mod otherwise.
My fix makes the Aerwhales naturally age and despawn like other normal mobs, so you actually don't have to kill them. They go away on their own! It'd be a pain to reach some of those large swarms of them without things like SPC to help you out anyway.
Question. There is another 'fix' mod out there but it some how prevents new portals from being made, the water just flows normally. Does this allow portals to work as they should?
Is the moa despawn fix in the...fix's? Or do you -have- to add the extended mod to keep them from poofing?
Didn't see anything in the log about it, so did you fix the tamed moas despawning? That's the main bug for me that makes me not even want to play it. Getting stuck a long way away from my base and having to noclip back just sucks...
EDIT: Just read through your list again, sorry, looks like that was fixed.
Was the spawning rate of aechor plants raised at all? Inventory editing them in is no fun at all...

I did fix that, yes! I'll go reword it in the post to be more clear, but I did list "Saddled moas don't despawn." I'll change it to say "Saddled/Tamed" since that's more accurate anyway: babies and grown tamed moas won't despawn either.
There is nothing under the Aether v1.01 Fixes that state moa's are fixed so they don't despawn. Only under the Extended mod. So I'll ask for a 2nd time. Are moa's despawning fixed with the 'Fix's' or did you only fix them in the extended mod? If so can we please have a fix in the fix's?

... lolwut?
I don't know why you wouldn't just download the extended.zip and use the entitymoa.class fix in that.
Add-ons like these add new feels to Minecraft + Aether. Great job. :smile.gif: Diamond Spawner for you!
(Spawns a diamond every second or half second) LOL
Copy/pasted from part of my post in the main Aether thread...
You should change it so that you can put lava, netherrack, and soulsand in the Aether, because there isn't any reason not to be able to. Lava doesn't require oxygen since it's just liquid rock. And Soulsand would be a good Quicksoil brake. Also, Aether blocks should be usable in the Nether except for Icestones and Aerclouds. Aerogel would be a great Nether building material. (If you do this then I guess you should get rid of the self-erasing netherrack inside the dungeons.)
You should be able to enchant Icestones to make a block that doesn't freeze stuff, but, when put in the Nether, makes it cool enough so that you can use water, Icestones, and Aerclouds in a certain radius. That would make it possible to go from the Nether to the Aether.
Being able to go from Aether to Nether and Nether to Aether would be immensely convenient.
Also, the Cloud Staff should be able to be used to hurt the Sun God.
The Light Hellfire Stone should let you use fire in the Aether within a certain radius. Otherwise it doesn't make sense for the Sun God to be there and throw fireballs at you... It'd be useful to make Nether portals in the Aether.

Note

Is the moa despawn fix in the...fix's? Or do you -have- to add the extended mod to keep them from poofing?

EDIT: Just read through your list again, sorry, looks like that was fixed.
Was the spawning rate of aechor plants raised at all? Inventory editing them in is no fun at all...
I did fix that, yes! I'll go reword it in the post to be more clear, but I did list "Saddled moas don't despawn." I'll change it to say "Saddled/Tamed" since that's more accurate anyway: babies and grown tamed moas won't despawn either.

Your swet patch fixes ALL the spawning issues. It seems aerwhales weren't causing the problem.
... lolwut?
I don't know why you wouldn't just download the extended.zip and use the entitymoa.class fix in that.
Your fault for being a derp
(Spawns a diamond every second or half second) LOL
Everthing else works fine. This is so great!
Oops! Figures I'd miss something, the one thing I didn't look for. It's been added, sorry about that!
