Is it possible to integrate the height mod on a bukkit server? I attempted to do it today and it seemed it was working correctly however when I got past the 128 height limit I was able to place a block but then it immediately phased out. Not sure if this from running the mod on bukkit or perhaps I didn't install it correctly. Any answer would be great. Thank you :smile.gif:
I wanted to do some testing with a 256 high world for my future server, but the world just doesnt turn out as i want it. Im trying this in SP with the GUI version of the mod.
So basically what i want to do:
- Sea/ground level at y=128
- Highest ground level at y=192
And then i want the rest up to y=256 to be open.
So if i do: Height:256,Water height:128,Mid Height:128, Gen Height:192 i would assume to get a landscape just like Minecraft's normal landscape at first view. This because the water/ground level height is 64 blocks less than the max generation height. But what i get is huge ugly mountains, that even reach to y=256 :/
I dont really get what the mid height is for anyway, but setting it a bit lower seemed to spawn almost only water. So what would be the optimal settings for me? An as normal as possible looking world, but with way bigger underground and emtpy space above the highest generation level.
Also, using higher worlds would make the spawn area of diamond, gold, etc higher as well right?
Thanks in advance :smile.gif:
That'd be Height:256 Water:128 Mid:128 Gen:128, The gen height is the size of world it'd generate like, so that'd be as if it generated a 128 world 64 blocks higher.
Fishtaco, I have a question about the server version of the height mod...
Is it possible to specify gen height, water height, etc. on the sever, like you can with the singleplayer version of the mod? I have a world seed I want to port to a 256 world, but since I can't figure out how to change these settings, things are generated a bit differently... optionally, can I gen my world using the single player GUI anf then port to server?
I've happen to use your height mod on my Minecraft Server since the 1.0 but we've found a bug quite disturbing.
Passive mobs doesn't seem to spawn (or spawn very slowly). I guess this bug come from the fact that mobs are manage differently since the 1.8 and it may "block" the spawing in section higher than 128.
Any other experience this bug? Or is this a fix that could be done "Maybe with the help of an other mob"?

I'm making a server version that allows you to specify that, I'm going to go out and say I'll have it out in less than an hour.

I've not noticed this, I've had just as many chickens spying on me, it may be that the mobs are distributed throughout, and it doesn't seem like as many.
hey fishtaco, any ideas about a possibility of a bukkit release now that they have a version for 1.0? I would LOOVE to see that happen and I believe you mentioned it before. :smile.gif:

I have one thing I want to finish for the height mod before doing a bukkit fork.
Hey Ft finaly got my head round the settings for the config file, and now i have a normal looking minecraft world but with a much higher building cap.
just wanted to say thanks for getting this config file added as i can finaly make my mc servers have much bigger projects on them this mod is awesome.
did run in to one or two issues though
1.)if i try to make a 512 map i gets some funny bug where the world gennerated in lines and blocks in some kind of odd grid and i couldnt move. but that was just for testing perposes anyhow so no biggy for me.
2.)villages spawn in the middle of the ocean occasionaly suppoeted on stone columns
3.)still having some issues with swamps, sometimes i get swamps with lots of trees, sometimes i get a huge lake of green water and no trees.
excelent work i for one appreciate the time and effort you have put in to making this as user friendly as possible.
oh yeah and p.s
What is this one thing? should i wait to you do this before i open my server up with the height mod? or will the change effect an active map?
I'm just making the server send the height to client, no need to postpone launch.

Mind posting those numbers? Having a hard time finding something usefull..
Hope the one thing is modloader, (EDIT: hehe, timeing)
Since having 256 block hight smp is prime; all other mods becomes secondary to it.
but seeing FishTaco's mod list, anything he might come up with is shure to be good.
Thank you again FishTaco!
P.S.
I would LOVE to see some builds using this mod. Is it OK to post build pics here, or would you prefer to keep it on topic, in regards to the mods, teqnical support and updates?

How do i remove the bats and salamanders from the bettercaves mod?
The some of the bats seems to be invisible, and they are pushing me arround..
Please tell me how to :DD
i am still playing a bit with the settings so if i find any config better ill let you know, im trying to make the mountans a little higher but not crazy high, just trying to figure out the best config for that though.
I have one thing i am finding through out the generated worlds basicly its random patches of missing topsoil.. image below to show what i mean.
That's actually in Vanilla minecraft also, it's a little something notch does when he generates the topsoil.

That'd be Height:256 Water:128 Mid:128 Gen:128, The gen height is the size of world it'd generate like, so that'd be as if it generated a 128 world 64 blocks higher.
Was getting ready to throw a serious party... then...
It's still the Caves and Ores fix, server works fine with only the 256 mod.

I'm very sorry, accidentally uploaded it under the wrong name, that's what happens when you push yourself till four-thirty in the morning :sad.gif:

In the config set their spawnrates to 0.
