Do you do anything specific. Or do you just fly up and down, and upon touching ground you get hurt every time.
Shoot! After a computer restart, I cannot reproduce this anymore. When I fly up then just turn OFF fly to drop down, I'll lose a few hearts, but this is expected. If I use the "down" key to get myself down, I won't get hurt anymore (This second case is what I was referring to earlier). I was having some problems with Industrial Craft before; don't know if it had some residual effect on the behavior. Anyway, the problem seems to have gone away. Thanks.
I made a little adjustment to the sprinting code (took me about 2 minutes) and compiled it.
Works to an extent, it's satisfactory. Not as great as Zombe's sprinting, but only took me 2 minutes to change it.

Ehm. From what i can tell you didn't code anything regarding the players heading. All you did was change the speed amplification calculation.
Practically, yes.
Not really top-notch, but what can you say, it works at the very least.

- fixed z axis glitching
- fixed velocity lockups ("can't change direction while sprinting")
- fixed velocity buildup glitches and consequent teleporting
- sprinting now has a sexy 1.8ish FOV expansion to it
EDIT: I am still experiencing the drop in altitude while using flight, so I think you have the wrong Axis.
Same here. Becomes problematic when I'm trying to set up a screenshot. I'll be about to hit [F2] and I'll suddenly slide down some more, then I have to readjust and find that exact spot again, then it happens again etc.
The only thing I really use this mod for, and it's perfect for it, is mod testing & screenshots etc.

I'm actually sure i have the right Axis, because my initial fix resulted in vertical stuttering, where the current solution smooothly hovers you in place. You guys must have something installed that is causing this.
I'm pretty sure you just stole some code from zombe...
Never claimed i didn't *shifty eyes*. The function "obliqueNearPlaneClip" is a 1:1 copy, however it has a distinct Notch-ish look to it so i think Zombe copied it from some game file himself.
The more important hack to replace the Renderer is completely my work and extremely cool might i add.

Hmm, Java 7?

I got JRE and JDK 7 (x64) and i have no issue.
If you check out the source you must see it just ... cant ... happen. Should your char for ANY reason drop in height, the mod adds an upward velocity until you reach the 'locked in' height.
So if another mod teleported you down, this one would float you upwards again
It still happens in Vanilla with only Modloader but not nearly as often and only a tiny bit at a time. I then see the [F3] y coord being gently pushed back up after each "hiccup". btw: I think there is a vertical Spike on the [F3] graph chart in the lower left hand side whenever this drop happens.
With Zeppelin mod installed too these "hiccups" which cause you to start falling again for a fraction of a second seem to occur a little more often, but are still dealt with by the up-pressure you added.
When the Cubic Chunks Height mod is installed it happens far more frequently and each hiccup can cause you to fall a small yet notiecable amount (jarring drops) sometimes in semi-rapid succession. Faster than that up-pressure can compensate for and the net effect is still an eventual drop to ground or water. Still seems to happen most often when not perfectly vertical, while looking downwards, though not 100% sure that's not just chance.
* There seems to be an interrupt of some sort that causes HAX to lose it's grip on you momentarily allowing you to drop some amount of distance before it can catch you again. I had never noticed anything like this when using SPC /fly so this must be doing something different. I've never used Zombe so I can't compare that one. I greatly prefer the flying controls for HAX though compared to SPC so I hope there is some way to fix this.
It may be related to additional mods and weaker PCs "amplifying" frame lag. When having these greater hiccups ... do you still get pushed upward, or does it try to hold you at the new, lower, position?

I do see it trying to push me back up, and that has slowed the descent some. But the "hiccup-spikes" are almost constant, so the fall is still almost constant even if stuttery when it tries to push back up.
This one system I'm on is a quad-core with 4gb ram, not that Java lets me use that ram... It's only major deficit other than Vista is MB Video, but I have no control over that, it's not my personal computer.

Here's the class file for mod_SimplyHaxFlying:
http://www.mediafire.com/?gkm43qevshmje4k
And here's the source for it:
http://www.mediafire.com/?wleiawyg9vukned
The change was made to the MakeHaste function, for those wondering.
Everything else stayed the same.
Experiment with the code to your liking.
Atomic: I like the mod, and thanks for the source and not suing me. Still have nightmares. :heartylaugh:
Updated with acceleration (slightly noticeable, but a nice little thing to have)
I recommend (in your settings file) to set:
maxflyspeed=0.5
and to add
maxsprintspeed=1.0
And you can configure it to your liking.
The smaller the number, the faster the movement.
...
Yes, there are bugs that I don't feel like working out. You have the source code, if you want help compiling it ask me.

Added FOV customizing to config file.
