i was looking at tileentitys today and i noticed they had a metadata value in them does anyone know how i would go about using this
That particular value simply stores the metadata of the block it is associated with. However, its almost useless since the server and client have different names for that variable.
i'm having problems getting forge to work with mcp. i'm using Modloader 1.8.1, ModloaderMP 1.8.1 (client,server), MCPMS 1811 sdk, Forge 1.12 source.
MCPMS? Do you mean MCPMF? Do you know that it will work with Forge? Get rid of it, I think it's causing most of the errors. For Forge you should use only Modloader & ModloaderMP.
I just got to a clean compile with Forge, but there were two or three files with failing patches that I had to deal with. Google was invaluable for that. I found all the solutions on these forums, so you can, too!
I can't even start up. I've installed Modloader, I've installed Modloader MP, I did the fix for MP's file replace, I install Forge (after making sure the problem wasn't in either modloader) and I get this error from console at startup.

I would just like to say (as a modder) this is an absolutely brilliant idea. It can truly become great so long as everyone adopts this idea. But we're counting on you guys. If you die, we die. But I have faith that this project will be a success. Thank you for your efforts.

How does the Ore dictionary work when you switch IDs around?
I just started a mew SP map with BTW, BC 2.2.5, IC2 1.23, RP2pr3b and I ended up with two types of Copper and Tin ore/ingots. To get BTW to work with the rest I had to assign some new IDs. Did that break the ore dictionary or why would I get multiple ores?
As far as I know, most mods will still spawn their own ores unless you specifically tell them not to in their config files (assuming the option exists). All the ore dictionary really does is let each mod know when a new ore or item is defined. It makes no guarantees that that type of ore or item wont be define more than once. That's entirely up to the mod maker or the user if config options exist.

Now, how does one make things flammable in a metadata aware way? Or does that option not currently exist. I assume I could roll my own system to spread fire in my block class, but that seems like reinventing the wheel. Heck, from what I can tell making even a normal block with no metadata burn requires using reflection to access a private method in BlockFire.
Had some issues at first, took a few restarts trying to get the right install order. Like guiAPI and ModOptions don't play nice together, had to add guiapi second. But now things are running like a boss. If there are any conflicts I haven't found them yet. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is redoing all this for 1.0, I didn't write down the working load order like a dummy :smile.gif:

Eh.. your list is trivial - really only core mods installed in jar.. Forge = awesome.. i am going to go fetch harve... i will wait.
im sorry if this has been answered, but will forge ever be compatible with optifine or id resolver? the game still runs but basically disables all of optifine, and removes hooks from id resolver which is pretty much the whole point of that mod

Forge has been compatible with both for quite a while, just make sure you get the forge versions of each :smile.gif:

I just got to a clean compile with Forge, but there were two or three files with failing patches that I had to deal with. Google was invaluable for that. I found all the solutions on these forums, so you can, too!

well the only thing i think of is forge install isn't right get a clean jar a install again

Ask developer of that mod.
it does work
you just have to apply the patch last :smile.gif:
so start with a clean unpatched jar
install all of your mods
delete the backup jar patcher makes
then patch and enjoy
OR
you could use the forge compatible version of optifine as it includes the patch

Curse PremiumAs far as I know, most mods will still spawn their own ores unless you specifically tell them not to in their config files (assuming the option exists). All the ore dictionary really does is let each mod know when a new ore or item is defined. It makes no guarantees that that type of ore or item wont be define more than once. That's entirely up to the mod maker or the user if config options exist.

Now, how does one make things flammable in a metadata aware way? Or does that option not currently exist. I assume I could roll my own system to spread fire in my block class, but that seems like reinventing the wheel. Heck, from what I can tell making even a normal block with no metadata burn requires using reflection to access a private method in BlockFire.

Had some issues at first, took a few restarts trying to get the right install order. Like guiAPI and ModOptions don't play nice together, had to add guiapi second. But now things are running like a boss. If there are any conflicts I haven't found them yet. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is redoing all this for 1.0, I didn't write down the working load order like a dummy :smile.gif:

Eh.. your list is trivial - really only core mods installed in jar.. Forge = awesome.. i am going to go fetch harve... i will wait.
Forge has been compatible with both for quite a while, just make sure you get the forge versions of each :smile.gif:
