This Minimap is clearly the best there is. On my recommendation, nearly 500 users on The Voxel Box have switched from ZanMinimap to this minimap. Pretty much everyone has been impressed by how much better this minimap is. The only small quibble I have heard from some users is that they do not like that the minimap disappears when you open chat. They often type the coordinates shown in the minimap and thus they prefer to be able to see the minimap and coordinates while they are typing.
That is the only small issue people have found with the minimap. Otherwise, it is perfect.
Which leads into another one of my points, I and about 40 other players will not be able to use your minimap if you add the cave function, and also whoever else is on a server where zanz minimap is not allowed, neither will yours.
Now this leads to another possible reply to this "If your server doesn't allow it, then that sucks for you, but let us who CAN use it, at least give the option to use to use it."
If you want to get a cheating mod, go get flyhack, speedhack, zombe's pack, x-ray hacks, and zanz minimap, and see how fast you can get banned. But lets keep this mod, one of the few client mods that 1. Keep the game balanced, 2. Help the player, 3. Can be used on a vanilla server, and 4. Is not considered a cheating mod.
This is a good mod, and lets keep it that way.
I see your point and noticed Zombe's users get banned too. I can understand that. I use Zombe's and have the cheating parts of the mod disabled and mainly use it for the ability it gave me [a non modder] to change some of the wooden and stone tools/weapons to flint in order to make the game harder, rather than easier.
But to your point. I'm no genius but I am very easily able to have my modded minecraft exclusively for use on single player and when I want to go into smp I can simply 'move' my modded game and replace it with a vanilla version with no conflicts or ban worries.
So regardless of whether this modder adds cave mapping or not, smp players could have the best of both worlds by having 2 versions of the game on the computers and change them at will. As for me, I personally don't care if we get cave mapping or not. I'll simply deal with whatever we're presented with and only use those features I deem to be 'acceptable' for my playing conditions.
Of course this means you wouldn't have a minimap of any sort in smp, but then would you want that kind of advantage over other players?
But MOST of the people replying here said, that he should add the cave/entity Radar BUT make it possible for server admins/owners to disable those features. That would (honestly) be the BEST solution for both sides, don't you thibk?
Amen to that.
I have always believed that the more options the better a project will be. Making them all able to be toggled, or an option to leave them out of the install, should be FAIR to everyone. In the end, it's ultimately up to the author what goes into the mod and what does not.
As i have stated before, this mod is superb. Ill continue to use it as long as its available.

Can you modify how the map detects the IP address to check the debugging output and use that to choose which files to write the waypoint in? like launch minecraft from the command line and connect to a server, it would show as "Connecting to play.*********.net, 25565" or **.***.**.***, 25565" cuz not everyone uses the lastserver= in options.txt line due to mods such as SporkList or MPserverlist not writing to it.
Hello, I must say that you've done an excellent job on this minimap; I am extremely impressed. However, I would love if you made a feature that allows me to add custom blocks and what color they show up on the map. There are plenty of mods that add a lot of blocks, predominately the Aether, which in turn show up invisible on the map. Still, awesome job, I hope this mod receives the attention it deserves.

I want to the cavemap/entity-rader function limit by the server's side.
however, I don't know a method.
1. Limit by the bukkit plugin(I know nothing about bukkit) 2. Required the Vanilla server's operator authority(how to get op / deop information?)
please tell me these methods, if you know.
As a server admin, I would LOVE to have the ability to enable or disable the entity radar server side. I don't know anything about coding with Bukkit, though :/
You could allow cavemapping if you follow something in another mod i know of. It will disable if a certin msg is in the motd. But you could make it so if it gets the msg it will allow it!
Why is it when you switch the map to round, the square map still shows but the circle outline is there? It doesn't look right at all...
I just downloaded and installed the 1.3v version and the square outline has been removed when the round map is selected. There are other new features included as well which make updating this mod well worth it.
Great map indeed.
Might i ask, would it be possible to have the Entity Radar and Cave map enabled for SMP, but also have it check to see if the current player's rank is OP or something similar?
This could be a little helpful for admins and moderators of servers and also eliminating this aiding in griefing for normal players.
EDIT: The entity radar shows all mobs in range of the map, including ones that are underground, even if you are above ground.

If you could add aether mod support that would be awesome :wink.gif:
However, the entities radar of Aether is uncertain.
