Ensure that Marker Label is set to either Type1 or Type2, and Marker Distance is enabled, and you're within 1000km (1 mil blocks) of the waypoint.
Check, Check, Check. I am app. 6 to 8000 blocks away from the waypoint, but I am not seeing the label or the distance, only the dot. In the older versions I did see that. Weird?
To which I'd like to add that your version has a couple of tiny issues with setting waypoints that I didn't have before. First one is that it sets the Y value always 1 lower then 'current', which I then have to change manually. And it has X and Z first and thén Y, I would rather have the old X Y Z because it confuses me all the time, also when I use the coords to tp. And last, when I'm chatting and typing a C it wants to set a waypoint too.
I hope you can change this in a future version, thanks very much!
I can see all waypoints just fine, regardless of distance.
It sets the waypoint at feet height which is 1 lower than current. XZY is easier to use, considering the minimap always displayed it that way.
You could bind it to another key instead of C then.
I noticed it shows the dot only when there are blocks in the way. This means that if just 1 tree is between you and the waypoint you won't see the distance. In case of a tree that's easily solved by steppig aside, but from inside a house or cave it's not. Could u make that toggleable? Seeing as old rei's did show the coords wheter or not blocks are in the way?
Sedridor, would you be alright with sending me the code for your existing 1.7.10 fork, as well as the original Rei code you started with? I've got some free time and am interested in at least attempting to maintain a fork of my own until Rei returns (when/if that happens).
I've used an improved version of it for myself since a while. But since demand for an update is so high and it's very unlikely this ever gets updated, I'm gonna put it here now.
Thanks for updating this, but can we have a jarmod version? I don't want to use forge because I would only use Optifine and Rei's, I don't need other mods

I would rather they put it up on GitHub for everyone instead of keeping it closed source, there are people wanting to help but some people just don't want to release it to the public.
The colours mentioned before used to work and were blocked by NoCheatPlus. The version of the mod you posted seems to automatically have radar enabled on servers whereas on the official version it was disabled unless the server enabled it.
I installed a fresh install of both Minecraft and Forge and downloaded Rei's Minimap, all are the latest versions to this day (01/09/2014) and this computer has never had Minecraft on before; totally fresh installs. (After several years of not playing Minecraft, so note that my account is 'old')
I cannot for the life of me get this mod working even slightly. I followed all the instructions to the letter on several different guides, re-installed everything, re-downloaded every time, nothing.
Forge installs fine and appears in MC menu showing it's 3 basic mods but when I add Rei's minimap according to the guide, it does not change the game at all. Still only Forge's 3 basic mods, no minimap in game, no minimap showing in a new world, nothing.
Am I doing something wrong? Can anyone help?
Using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, most up to date non-beta versions (1.7.10). If you want anymore info I'll get it asap.
Big thanks to anyone who can help!
Can you post your game log to pastebin? After installing Forge you just need to the Rei's Minimap .jar into your minecraft/mods folder, or minecraft/mods/1.7.10/ folder.

Since you were able to update it to 1.7.10 will you be updating it to 1.8?

It requires Forge, and that hasn't been updated yet since the MCP hasn't been updated. Basically most mods are incapable of being updated until then, there are a few like TMI that you can use if you install it old-school style but I'd rather wait.
Also the creator of this mod seemed to have vanished, and a mysterious updater appeared and made it work for 1.7.10 - I'm happy that even happened.

First off, if you read the original post that's how the mod used to work - you had to use some special characters to get it enabled on a server's MOTD to track entities. This was never used and poorly documented on how-to, so it was removed since everyone wanted it enabled anyway. This project seemed to be lost until it was recently updated to 1.7.10, with no future plans really.
If you want you can try different radar's such as VoxelMap or RadarBro, and there's even an open-source minimap available now that doesn't have entities. But hacks are easily accessible to anyone and everyone, if someone wants to see where people are - they very well can. If you don't want to, you can simply disable it. I would much rather have names show up instead of blue dots, but then that might be considered even more cheating but I'm not playing any games that would require me knowing that information.
But just to get back at my original thought, just having the ability to disable entity radar in one mod isn't going to do anything when there's plenty out there that do the same. Obviously a minimap is going to come with the price of knowing where things are, where as others wouldn't - even if it's just a better grasp of the current location you're at, you technically have an upper-hand already.
I have been searching everywhere for a 1.6.4 "JAR" version. For some reason my version of multimc only allows jar files to be placed in the mods folder. I had to give up on 1.7.2 and 1.7.10 because of this issue. There's way too many people using these mods in conjunction for this issue not to have been brought up. Does anyone have a link for the "JAR" file? Or can they upload a link or the file here?

*sigh* back to de-compiling...

And add an option for servers to have entites radar enabled or disabled upon logging in to the server.
