This mod is really good. I had tried Zan's Minimap as well as RadarBro, none of them I liked. Rei's Minimap on the other hand doesn't slow down Minecraft much, if any, and the map rendering it does is really cute (to call it somehow) in particular when dynamic lighting is enabled. In my opinion, a Must Have.
I would like to request commentary on three possible features:
* An option for Beacon / Light Pillar marker for waypoints, like the one Zan's has. It is the one feature of that mod that I miss.
* A cue or other visual indicator of when a nearby mob has noticed you. Like the "notoriety" feature that Assassin's Creed has, for example. Perhaps a flash around the map, or something?
* And / or an option to tag Zombie Pigmen in the nether as neutral rather than enemy, unless / until they change that allegiance of course. Would help a lot to distinguish what is what in the map for the Nether.
I presume featurettes #2 and #3 would essentially be similar. Code-wise, what would be required to implement them that the mod doesn't have already?
I am having trouble with LoginMessage, as it seems to broadcast a message sometimes and thus losing the Entities Radar for those non-broadcasts. Only able to get it back by logging out and back in as needed till i get a broadcast login message.
Rei's Minimap is the best, however a few things would be nice. One, the ability to change the colors of entities. Two we need a way to see what is happening using the markers, i.e. wings for if they are flying, boots if they are running, Sword if they are attacking, Cross symbol if they are hurt badly, Three, the ability to mark certain players as friend or foe.
I made a few examples of what I mean:
Sword
Enemy Player
Defend
Dead
Friend Player
Flying
Running
Badly Hurt
Getting Hurt
Swimming
Poison
On Fire
It's just an Idea I had. I understand that some of these may be impossible but it would be really nice to see what's going on around us.
Great mod but I am constantly losing my Mystcraft waypoints. Running DW20 updated to 1.4.7 and the latest version of REI's Minimap. Running in single player mode.
Could you add that you can see other players on the minimap if you are on a server?
That feature already exists, to an extent. The "Entities Radar" shows you not only Hostile and Passive mobs, but also "Player Entities".
However, in order for you to ~see~ them, the host of the server needs to activate that functionality with the "Message of the Day" text provided on the first page.
Also, it only shows an indicator arrow (I think the colour is light-cyan) for players, not an actual name (so you can't see ~who~ is on the minimap, only that it's a player).
How do I get rid of waypoints? I accidentally placed one and I don't know how to get rid of it.
Go to the waypoints section, press remove, press the waypoint you want to get rid of, and press remove again. May be slightly different than how I said, but yeah.
Hi. I'm translator of several mods and i want make full translation of Rei's minimap. But "InClassTranlator" can't find lines for translation (in options values and hotkeys settings). Can you modify thess lines into source code?
One thing I'd rather enjoy seeing was an option to only display the last death point you had, seeing death points from 100 deaths ago seems a little irrelevant.
Press 'M' key or whatever hotkey you have set up to display the Minimap menu and go to waypoints. From there, you can click remove, then pick from your list of waypoints to delete them. As well as that, you can disable/turn off waypoints you don't want to see.
Problems solved.
How can I manually install Rei's minimap? Optifine is apparently incompatible with ModLoader and Forge, so how can I install both Optifine and Rei's?
Forgive me if this has been answered but I come with a bug to report. I'm playing with Tekkit lite and FTB Direwolf20 mod pack. Both have Rei's Minimap in it, 1.4.6 ver. Both have managed to lose the waypoints I set at one time or another. I'm just wondering if this is a mod error or not due to the fact I've been using the Dragons Mount mod in both, but also in both is Mystcraft.
(It's not that big of a deal for me, but I did lose my markers for some Emeralds I found in my Tekkit world, and with it almost lose the emeralds...)

I think someone else posted earlier about Mystcraft causing waypoint loss. It seems like a FTB problem to me but that's because I see it uses a separate launcher to use the mods. I'm not sure where it stores the waypoints but there's a way to recover them by going through some files in your .minecraft folder. At least that's how I recovered them for my SSP worlds once.
goto .minecraft/mods/rei_minimap/
then delete/rename the file with your ip on it
now it won't showing the server ip/url in chat
