I placed a suggestion in the sugestion forums to implement MCP and modloader as a regular update with the game. Please support this. It could make things easier for Simo, Rei and many other modders.
I sincerely hope work is in progress for the new update (1.2.4). I miss my map ;( I adore this mod and you've done a fabulous job with this Rei. I recommend it all the time.
And to those who yell that I shouldn't have updated, I HAD to my server is already up and I'm staff. lol
there is a wiki I searched for via google... I searched minecraft version history. The first wiki page should have a chart along the left side of the chart it lists the version. Along the right side it lists a download link for the corresponding download.
If you really need it for Single player. Then you can just save a copy of each bin and copy paste em back and forth depending on whether you are playing SMP or single player.
My friend updated his server too. Basically I wont join them until my mods update. to be honest imho it is rude of server mods to update without asking the community of their respective server if they want to wait for mods to update. Besides that it seems that every major mod comes filled with problems so updating so fast is pointless. May as well wait two weeks.
Admittedly I could be completely off base I don't operate my own server so I don't know if they auto update or if the admin chooses to update.
Oh yeah, i've got my single player jar saved off in a different folder, i swap them back and forth all the time. Learned that trick a while ago because i play with all kinds of things solo, but a lot of them glitch out or just crash you in multiplayer.
Our server always updates as soon as possible (too many code monkeys on Staff). Usually the main mods we use aren't too far behind us. People on our server are used to having a couple days of mods like maps not working while things update. I just really wish 1.2.4 hadn't come so quickly on the heels of the last one. Seems like we JUST updated everything. =/ I feel for the guys who mod, soon as they finish updating it's time to start again.

But then you'll have some people who want to update and those who don't and only like 30% of the Minecraft players actually stayed 1.2.3 instead of updating... You will lose many players.
Give him chance you lot at the end of the day his just a person, he will have a life. Play minecraft knowing you might get lost and so adapt to it im waiting for it but it cant be minecraft without getting lost hehe
I am taking the time to work on my house. I started a new world the day before the update.

Same thing, nothing happens
Minecraft is a very suggestive game....

There aren't any decent alternatives that I know of. Just gotta be patient!
And I've left each and every one of them to the moderators.
