Extrapipes doesn't work with BC 1.7.3.3 for me in SSP (but 1.7.3.2 is fine). I get this shortly after loading my map:

Oh oh, so it's not the placement that's causing the crash, but it attempting to pull an item out (because that's what right-clicking an extractor pipe does).
Actually... about that behaviour.... should right clicking extract an item, or should it switch the source like the wooden pipe does?
I am running Minecraft 1.7.3 with Buildcraft 1.7.3.3 and I am currently using the ExtraBuildCraftPipes 1.7.3.2
It is working fine for me.

Out of curiosity are you using Eloraam's RedPowerCore mod? The reason I ask is when I read through this log it says many times eloraam.core.blah blah blah. When I tried using this mod I got a crash every time. Without it, everything worked fine. It's not the ExtraBuildcraftPipes mod not working for you, it's the RedPowerCore. I wanted to use it too, but never could get it working. Eloraam's IntegratedRedstone however does work.
but the two are DEFINITELY incompatible, i tried red power core+wiring, and buildcaraft pipes, taking one step forward crashed the game.
They worked fine together before BC 1.7.3.3.
I wonder what's actually causing the problems?
EDIT: Oh, and the actual wooden pipes work fine. I do believe Spacetoad did some refactoring of the power code in 1.7.3.3. The crash is being caused by that change, not RedPower.
EDIT2: Yep. Same error, no RedPower involved.

so do we need to wait for everything buildcraft related to be updated before we can use these then?
This mod itself needs an update.
BC is updated, all of the other submods still work as far as I've tested. Just this one crashes, trying to use the old redstone power API from BC that no longer exists.
EDIT 4: I finally got an error report out of the game, i used eloraam's intergrated redstone (before redpower) and set the timer to 10 seconds, like i thouht it would, it crashed at the pulse, but anyway, here's the report:
Yep, that's that same error, now reported three times, with three different things causing it.
Suffice to say, it's this mod that needs fixing.
Extraction pipes are broken by BC 1.7.3.3.
Insertion pipes, probably okay, because they don't have any redstone interactions.
Bounce pipes probably function as bounce pipes, but I'd be willing to bet that applying redstone to them (normally makes them act like normal pipes) will make them crash all the same.
the bounce pipes work completely fine for me, with red power, it's only connecting anything to an extraction pipe that causes problems for me
also, the first line of the report "java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: ExtraBuildcraftPipes.TileExtractionPipe.checkPower()V"
sound's like there's something missing from that class file, i'm looking through "TileExtractionPipe" now, i'm going to look for that "checkPower" line
EDIT: Checked it, couldn't find it (although my java skills are... well... nonexistent)
Yep, you'd be right.
Note this particular line:
public class TileExtractionPipe extends TileWoodenPipe
TileWoodenPipe would have had the relevant method in it. Not anymore, because of the power revamp.
Bang. Crash.

You got it. Ive fixed the issues, I will have a working version up this weekend. I'm having some issues separating the code I was working on with the code I need to release :/
yes the zip is in my mods folder, the only thing in my minecraft jar are mods that like ic and modloader, modloadermp, guiapi, things that overwrite minecraft classes
magic chest and redpower to go well together... its a rare "recipe conflict" both contain the same recipe...
i would basically like to say i run almost all your other mods together seemlessly + a ton more
the ones i don't run and idresolver, and guiapi ... i am not installing guiapi for 1 mod i just solve them myself.., also i don't run recipe book... so everything should work quite well..
Still the same problem with BC 1.7.3.3 and ExtraBCPipes 1.7.3.3.1...
Try using the defualt texturepack and tell me if it happens, if it still does then answer this:

I have a little problem with the insertion pipe, if I have one slow and one fast item arriving in the pipe, both go into inventory - so one is getting dropped if inventory only has one place free. Any solutions?
Perhaps you could add a overflow-reverse/bounce to the insertionpipe, so it will reverse the item if inventory is full before leaving the pipe?
Just add a bounce pipe next to the insertion pipe.
However, that won't fix your problem (nor will the fix you suggest), because items decide where they're going at the -middle- of the pipe, so if the other items are still in the pipe, between the inventory and the center of the pipe, you'll still have items dropped out of the system.
That's a base BC issue, nothing that can be easily resolved by blakmajik here. A gold pipe immediately before your insertion pipe might get them spread out enough to fix your problem.
Basically.. if you are working on a complicated buildcraft pipe system.. and you run into a situation where you say 'gee.. I wish I had a pipe that did <X>' where <X> is described by any of these pipes.. then you have your answer.
I use insertion when I want items to 'always' go in the chest, but not if it's full.
I use extraction when I want to get items out of a chest but not back inside.
I use bounce pipes when I want items to reverse direction (in some cases depending on redstone) without using loops.
Some situations can be handled with 2 or more pipes... but mod makes the space you need for these situations 1 block.
In practical terms I use both extraction and insertion pipes for machines (furnaces) when both the output and input need to go through the same pipe. I use insertion and extraction for chests when connected to a larger pipe-system where items can come from all directions. Bounce I use to separate certain parts of my network with a switch. I also use bounce when I don't have the space or patience to make a loop at dead-ends of my networks.
Ok I understand extraction and insertion pipe now, but bounce is still a bit... eh...
Can't I just use iron? That pretty much bounces it...

the bounce pipe blocks all directions, not just 7/8 - and its really good for keeping items in one spot, items can go threw an iron pipe from any direction, but are directed into one direction,
meaning items can escape, but will eventually end up in the right location.. but that takes a quite a while, solution:bounce pipe makes this system take a short while
here is a picture someone posted on page 2, it shows a bounce pipe being used to the best of its efficiency, you could use an iron pipe, but the system would be MUCH MUCH MUCH slow

1)
Bounce pipes attach to and bounce from anything.
Iron cannot have its open face towards an extraction or wooden pipe.
2)
Bounce pipes are stand-alone.
You need a second pipe on the other side for iron to work in this manner.
3)
Bounce pipes bounce on all six sides.
Iron only bounces on one direction. It redirects to that direction from the other five.
ReddPandda2: "7/8"? What game are you playing? Cubes only have six faces.
4)
2 iron is more expensive than 2 cobble :wink.gif:
hello i have a compact two macerators next to each other and then two more beside-ish them there is a space in between the groups of 2 and i used an extraction pipe to get the dust out of them and put them into my storage room but i can only have one extraction pipe extract one macerator? why cant it extract from two differant sources it would save me alot of space in the long run *10 rows of 2 macerators*
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
that is a picture of the setup i am using
It was MyCraft. I tried again each possible combination of no texturepack, no other mods and no MyCraft, and they work without it and with everything other. I don't know why.
i don't like mycraft... i could have told you that from the start if i knew you used it.
Thanks Man! Also, How relatively easy is it to pick up java? I want to get into coding and the only coding i've done so far is light lua on an mmo called roblox.
Any tips?

I hope you realize that that setup won't work well for even the -two- macerators that it's currently hooked up to.
Stuff from the bottom extractor pipe will split between going down (where your output pipes are) and up (to the other extractor pipe), and without another pipe there to "anti-insert" to, will be inserted into the other macerators, and fall out of the system.
EDIT: I'm not sure if this is just the angle, but it looks like the iron pipe keeping the items in the upper loop don't have an output, too.

it should change direction just like the wooden pipe
I'm not saying its bad, but I'm just stumped on what they are used for!
Thanks! :biggrin.gif:
TLDR Not saying its bad, but whats its use?
