Is this marble...Marble-y? Looking forward to seeing what it looks like. My minecraft has another mod installed that adds a ton of blocks, so I'm nervous about adding anything else to it.

If you're worried about running out of block ID's, there's a mod that increases the range of block ID numbers so you won't have any conflicts. I think it's called Minecraft Extended or something like that

The block generates below Y=70, and needs stone or higher to mine.

Right now it simply adds a marble block to the game. Nothing special. It was my first mod after all.
Edit: Also, first mod? Congratulations to you. You added an aesthetically pleasing block without a whole bunch of nonsense thrown in.
