This is basically a copy of the deathchest. I doubt you are going to have much interest for this. But not a bad first mod. Let's see what else you can create.

just because you dont like it doesnt mean it wont be used, dont be ignorant.
Everyone is saying this mod is a copy of deathchest, i might be, it might not.
But will it work if i put the double save chest in my house, and i go die in the nether with diamonds, will my diamonds be back at the surface in my chest?
I'd seriously consider making another video as the current one was too frustrating to watch. You could have compressed it into a 2 minute video at most instead of fiddling around showing the blocks and then eventually making a crafting table. The you place it and remove it? What the?
Seriously If I were to go by the video, I'd assume that when you come to an area of danger you stand around wondering what to do next. Then after great deliberation you decide to make the death chest next to where you think you might die and then you have have to make a double chest because that's what you did even though there were only 2 items in your inventory. Then I'd have to move all my items from the hot bar into the inventory section before I die because that's what you did.
How about instead make a death chest near your spawn point. Make sure you have items in your hot bar as well as your inventory. Then just walk to the lava and die. You respawn near your chest and go show that all your items have appeared there. Much simpler, quicker and far less confusing.
Apart from that I think the death chest could be a good idea but only if you didn't have to activate it every time you start the game. No fun if you start a long way from the chest.

I am currently adding that feature along with a priority for items to be stored in the chest (IE. Diamonds over dirt)

Much much better video, with words as well! Even though I understood the upshot of the first video, I have to say I was getting irritated watching it as it just dragged on and on.
Of course now I have to grapple with the idea of having your chest which still requires activation with each game load but at least has a balancing trade off or just sticking with Zombe's dying without even losing your inventory. Of course his one feels a bit like a cheat and I have suggested it would be better if he could implement an optional loss of hearts to compensate but so far have not had a reply.
I know which one my 15 year old wants. He throws a tantrum every time he dies, especially in lava while carrying diamonds. Grrrrr, straight to InvEdit to 'claim' them back for the 'unrighteous demise the minecraft bug caused. the less work he has to do to get his stuff back is the one he wants...........
EDIT: I just checked and you're using gs.class which will conflict with Zombe's 'FLY' mod. That's a popular mod and the FLY component from what I can gather is widely used so it might be a problem. The death chest uses ix.class which doesn't conflict with the other mods. Just saying......
I see how it's different from DeathChest, but there's still a problem with this.
Basically, everyone is going to put the chest in their house, go out, die, then respawn and get all their items back, right?
So why go through the hassle of making it a CHEST? Why not just make it an item that causes you to drop no items when you die? It could be made the same way, AND it would save you the trouble of putting all your stuff back in your inventory.

My next update to this will have it to where you no longer have to activate it when you load a world
Also you will be able to die in the nether with a chest in the overworld and still have your items saved
As for editing the gs.class, I will look into other possible options
Due to the new forum layout I am forced to leave a Link to my about me page so you can my mods/texture packs I support along with my Dragons, Just click on the image

I don't really get why you don't do that.
Thankfully due to all the mods out there you get to choose what happens when you die. this chest has its own merits and keeps the vanilla flavour of coming back with nothing in your inventory which may or may not be to you liking.
An alternative is available in Zombe's mod which gives you the option of retaining all your goods when you die and spawning back with them in tact. He's currently working on including a further option to reduce the number of hearts you come back with as a balance tradeoff.
The 3rd option is the death chest which drops a chest when you die providing you're carrying one. Drawbacks to this idea are that a chest won't hold a full inventory and hot bar items. then there's the problem of dying in lava, if the chest drops in lava you lose the lot anyway, Then of course there's the distance factor. You might have to travel a long way to getback to the chest or even to 'find' it. But its good to have that option too as it gives us 3 options and one of them is bound to suit our individual style of play.
Your idea would give a 4th option which actually sounds pretty good for those that want to retain their goods but feel they'd like to have to pay for it beforehand in the form of creating a special 'beacon'.
If you want my guys (EpiicCraft) could make you a video for this.
PM me if interested. I'd love to feature this in our FIRST mod highlight.
@People saying this is like deathchest.
This isn't. This saves it to a specific location (i.e your spawnpoint) rather than in the middle of nowhere, where you might not find the chest again. Plus the problem with death chest is you might end up dying in something like lava, making retrieval of the chest difficult. So this is infact a lot better and convenient.

I hope to have it done this weekend :smile.gif:
Death Chest puts a chest on the ground if you have one in your inventory and stores all the items that can fit into it in that small chest
If you happen to die in lava or in a really bad spot, sucks for you :sad.gif:
My mod gives you the freedom to place the save point chest ANYWHERE and upgrade it to a large chest
So feel free to play in the lava :smile.gif:
Thanks for the advice :smile.gif:
I uploaded a much better video I hope it helps
Oh cool, this is an improvement then. Going to check it out now. Thanks!

Even when you switch worlds all your Save Point Chests will be "saved"
Fixed a minor bug with removing one of the chests and not having the neighbor chest become the active chest
That would be awesome :smile.gif:
