MAtmos is a sound atmosphere generator for Minecraft. Whenever you play on any multiplayer server or in singleplayer, it looks at your surroundings and generates natural noises as a soundscape, such as birds chirpling in the forest, rumbling noises near a lava lake or wind gusts on a hilltop. This fills out the perpetual silence of Minecraft.

This looks really, really cool, but I'm having trouble installing it. Can anyone give me some advice? I'm on a mac, and I'm stuck on the second step of "Put the contents of the folder .minecraft into (Operating system Roaming folder)/.minecraft/"
First, I'm not sure what or where my .minecraft folder is, second, I can't find the .dat files. If someone could point out what I'm missing, I'd be really grateful, since it's probably blatantly obvious what I'm doing wrong.

The .dat files you are looking for are contained in the file your downloaded, under the subfolder called .minecraft
This might be my problem. When I downloaded the file, there was only the CLASSFILES folder, a .txt file, and a "patch.properties.exe" file, which I am unable to open since I'm on a mac. I couldn't find a subfolder.
sorry but you lost me when you said you had to put the .minecraft in the .minecraft. I am using a mac but can some one please make a video tutorial, done on a pc will be fine.
So Minaptics requires MCPatcher, but MAtmos is incompatible with MCPatcher and requires Modloader.
Does this mean that Minaptics will soon be modloader compatible? I'd love to be able to use both of these mods you've made, they're quite neat.
Good job on MAtmos - adds so much to the game.
MCPatcher is just an installation tool (am I right?), I'm just saying that this installation tool will not work on MAtmos (due to resource files). Both mods require ModLoader on runtime. So you can use both at once.

Also where do I put the properties file in?
Don't touch the properties file :smile.gif: It is supposed to be read by a installer program.
Please redownload the mod. I have updated it so the subfolder will be clearly visible (probably).

No need to ask permission for use of my mod in mod packs, I won't reply, the answer is yes you are allowed to, and I don't care where you use it
MAtmos does not take any game setting into account to work.
Fast graphics or not, it won't make a difference since it does not watch those variables.
You are genuis!

I'm investigating this.
Tell me, if you put some fire (flint and steel), does it lag too?
A potential source of issues might be this: The database says:
"Play a dripping sound every often from 0.3 second to 2.7 seconds."
The fire has similar properties if not worse:
"Play a fire sound every often from 0.9 second to 1.2 seconds."
I'd like to know if you are lagging in the presence of fire... Sorry for the inconvenience!

According to
http://windows7themes.net/minecraft-save-file-location-windows-7.html
The OS Roaming folder should be in
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft
where ~ is your username

Have fun!
Anyway, I just wanted to confirm this
That is where the folder is.
Anyway, I can't wait to install this!
It confuses me too.
Great Work!
